up in the Setup mode. To allow easy setting ol squelch level.
channel number and CB volume, the radio is muted so that
only the cs audio can be heard (that is. provided the CB
signal is strong enough to break squelch).
The CB signal is passed to the audio clrcuits only a the signal
strength exceeds the threshold established by the squelch
setting. Adjust the squelch setting with the Pl-r/souelch
Control Switch on the lett handlebar swrtch assembly. See
Figure 13.

Wl‘llle in the Setup mode, select the desired ca channel
using the Mode Select Switch on the right handlebar switch

functions as loliows:
Local: Fieduces the sensitivity of the CB receiver. thus
allowmg quieter receiver operation (which may result in a
lack of availabie signals).
Distant: increases the sensitivity oi the receiver to pick up
weak signals, At times, this may mean more noise and
unwanted signals.

CB RANGE
NOTE
The Ca transmitter is the most powerful allowed under
Federal law, but since there is no large steel area to create a
ground plane, it may not IransMit as strongly as a car or
truck.
Weather
In times DI atmospheric disturbances, such as rain. snow (or
even sunspois). Your apparent CB range can be reduced.
sometimes drasticaiiy.
Terraln
Buildings, hiiis, valleys or any elevated ooiecis or
depressions that either clock or create a longer path
between transmitter and receiver will reduce or completely
disrupt communications,
Obstructinns
Transmitting or receiving may be completely cut off under a
viaduct or inside a tunnel or parking garage.
Maximum transmitting and receiving range can only he
expected under stable weather conditions in liat, open
country.
ACAUTiON
There are no adiustmenls internal to the CB transceiver
chassis that can he periormed without risking non<
compliance with Federal Communications Commission
(FCC) rules. Reler to the original equipment manu<
lecturer for any service required during the warranty
period. For transmitter service alter the warranty period,
reier lo a certilied repair service. Any lreouency
determ ng components, such as crystals, or power
determining semiconductors, etc, should only be re-
placed with the original component manulacturers part
