Most importantly, Innotek® will never give or sell your valuable information to anyone. INSTRUCTION GUIDE Congratulations! You are now the owner of an Innotek® Spray Commander® Waterproof training system with remote control designed for your dog’s education. Your new Innotek® Spray Commander® system can be used to interrupt any of your dog’s unwanted behaviors (behaviours) such as running away and chasing, stealing objects or food, digging, jumping on guests, etc. This system will improve and strengthen dogowner relationships because the correction is associated with the action and not the owner. It will allow you to redirect your dog’s attention and behavior (behaviour) while promoting a healthy emotional state. This instruction guide will provide you with all the information required to maximize the efficiency of your new Innotek® Spray Commander®. How it works Innotek® Spray Commander® uses a remote control and a harmless spray collar to re-direct the attention of the distracted or misbehaving dog, or one that has learned that obedience is optional. It can be activated at a distance up to 250 ft (85 m). In addition to having two levels of spray to disrupt unwanted behaviors (behaviours), the Innotek® Spray Commander® also incorporates a sound signal for positive reinforcement. You can use it to let your dog know when the behavior (behaviour) he is engaged in is acceptable. The sound becomes a reward for your dog. This innovative system causes no secondary effects (fear, pain). THE KIT INCLUDES • Spray device Waterproof • Can of stainfree, hypo-allergenic spray • Remote control • Two 6-volt alkaline batteries • Adjustable collar • Instruction guide PREPARATION Adjusting the collar to the spray device 1. Remove the keeper from the black collar (A). Pass the black collar (B) through the loops of the spray device (C). Put the keeper back on the collar (D). The curved edge of the keeper should face inward. -2- www.innotek.net 2. Feed the free end of the collar into the slot of the buckle (A) from the back to the front. Then, thread the free end of the collar through the outside slot (B) from the front to the back. The free end should now hang on the outside, then thread the keeper (C). When you have completed this section, the assembled collar looks as illustrated (D). Adjust the collar to fit like a regular collar. You should be able to easily pass two fingers between your dog’s neck and the device (A). We suggest that you check the collar regularly to make sure that it is well adjusted. Note: If these instructions are not properly followed, the buckle can easily be pulled off the collar. This could lead to the device being lost or damaged. Your dog must get used to the device before you actually start using it. We suggest that you make your dog wear the spray device during 4 to 5 days before inserting the battery and filling the device. At the same time, we also suggest that you remove and put the collar back frequently on your dog. Filling the device 1. Set the device on a flat surface, with the fill-up valve turned upwards. Shake the spray can before using it. 2. Hold the can upside down, then insert the aerosol tip in the fill-up valve – the deepest cavity (A) – then press down firmly for 10 seconds (B). Release pressure and press down for another 10 seconds, then release. Note: If spray is escaping as you attempt to fill the device, increase the downward pressure on the refill can to get a better seal. You cannot overfill the device. When completely filled, there should be enough gas in your device for 18-23 sprays. Inserting the battery 1. Insert a coin into the slot of the battery cover and orient towards open position. Remove cover and insert one 6 Volt battery with positive terminal towards the inside of the device. Place cover back on. Screw cover towards off position. 2. Slide off the battery cover from the remote control and insert one 6-volt alkaline battery, respecting polarity (+ and -) (C, D). Slide the cover back on. NOTE : Check if the device is working by pressing the upper button no 1 on your remote control; you should hear a beep (make sure the spray device is in the “on” position). www.innotek.net -3- A Using the Remote Control • The upper button (no 1) emits a sound signal. • The center button (no 2) sends a short spray. • The lower button (no 3) sends a long spray. The Spray Settings - The spray is used to interrupt the dog and redirect his attention. The more a dog seems absorbed by his activity, the longer the spray will have to be to stop and correct his behavior (behaviour), and to redirect his attention. No programming needed - Your Innotek® Spray Commander® device and remote control are now pre-programmed to make their use easier for you and your pet! Adjust the device onto the dog’s neck with the Innotek® Spray Commander® logo facing inward. Make sure the spray nozzle is pointing towards the dog’s snout. Turn the device on. DO’S AND DON’T’S • • • • • • • • • Never inflict punishment, pain or cruelty on your pet – even if he refuses to listen. Reward your pet when he listens and obeys your commands. Never let the dog ignore a command he understands. Do not use the spray when you want your dog to obey a command that he does not understand yet. Never fill the device while your dog is wearing it because it may damage the fill-up valve. Never fasten a leash (lead) to the Innotek® Spray Commander® collar. To ensure that your dog does not make the connection between you and the Innotek® Spray Commander®, don’t let him see you prepare the device, neither for the first try, nor for subsequent use. Keep your dog away while you prepare the device as well as when you fill it or change the battery. Make sure the device is always ready to function, should the dog display undesirable behavior (behaviour). We recommend that you verify the device every day to make sure it contains enough spray. Put the collar around the dog’s neck at least 20 minutes before the training session begins so that the dog doesn’t associate wearing the spray collar with the exercises. IMPORTANT : To save battery power, turn off the device while not in use. -4- www.innotek.net IMPORTANT REMARKS 1. The Innotek® Spray Commander® is not a toy. Keep it away from the reach of children. Use it only for its training purpose. 2. The Innotek® Spray Commander® must be used only on healthy dogs. We recommend that you take your dog to a veterinarian before using the Innotek® Spray Commander® if he is not in good health. 3. The receiver collar is waterproof. It is however recommended to keep device away from water as much as possible. Note that the remote control handle is not waterproof. 4. Keep the device clean at all times. Simply use a dry cloth to wipe away dirt. 5. Do not leave your device unattended where your dog could get a hold of it and damage it through chewing. 6. Always make sure that the batteries you are using are still adequate to operate the device. The device requires 6-volt alkaline batteries, easily available from Innotek®. 7. Never fill the device with any other substance than the one provided by Innotek®. Using another substance, as well as opening the device, will void the manufacturer’s warranty. 8. If your dog tries to take off the device, a harness can be used instead of the collar provided in the kit. 9. The hypo-allergenic spray can is a pressurized container. Do not pierce it, heat it or dispose of it in a fire as it may explode. Please read instructions on the can. 10. Do not expose the device neither to freezing temperatures nor to conditions warmer than 113°F/45°C. Be particularly careful not to leave the device in direct sunlight, either by a window or in a car on a summer day, etc. 11. Do not attempt to repair the device yourself. This will invalidate the warranty and make repairing more difficult. If the device doesn’t work, please contact our Customer Care Center (Centre). The device is activated by radio signals sent by the Innotek® Spray Commander® remote control. The strength of the signal may be affected by environmental conditions, topological features and electromagnetic interference. This being a radio frequency device, battery consumption can be elevated. TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE If you have problems with your Innotek® Spray Commander® Remote Control System: 1. Make sure that both the device (receiver collar) and the transmitter (remote) have the same ID number (01 to 08) (ex. R912 ID 03 for the receiver, and T912 03 for the transmitter). 2. Place a new battery into the receiver collar. Fill the device, then turn it on. 3. Press button 1 on the remote control; the receiver collar should emit a beep. 4. Press buttons 2 and 3; the receiver collar should release a small spray (button 2), and a large one (button 3). If nothing happens when pressing buttons 1, 2 or 3, there may be a problem with either the transmitter or the receiver circuits. 5. If any of the 3 buttons produces a reaction in the receiver collar, then the transmitter is working. 6. However, if no spray is released with buttons 2 and 3, but button 1 activates the sound signal, then the batteries could be low, or the device may not be filled properly. If all is fine in both cases, then there could be a problem with the spraying mechanism on the receiver collar. 7. If both spray buttons work, but no sound signal can be heard when pressing button 1, then the piezo buzzer may be faulty. 8. If the device doesn’t seem to hold its contents, or gas can be heard leaking from the collar, please contact our Customer Care Center (Centre). If you experience any of the above mentioned problems, please contact our Customer Care Center (Centre). www.innotek.net -5- ACCESSORIES To purchase additional accessories for your Innotek® Spray Commander®, visit our website at www.innotek.net to locate a retailer near you and for a listing of Customer Care Center (Centre) telephone numbers in your area.
