If you operate information and communica—
tion equipment integrated in the vehicle
when driving, you could be distracted from
the traffic situation. This could also cause
you to lose control of the vehicle. There is a
risk of an accident.
Only operate this equipment when the traffic
situation permits. If you cannot be sure of
this, stop the vehicle paying attention to
road and traffic conditions and operate the
equipment with the vehicle stationary.
Observe the legal requirements for the country

Bear in mind that at a speed of only 50 km/h
your vehicle is covering a distance of nearly
14 m per second
When using the device please follow

their function and/or the operation of other
networked components. This could in partic—

RDS (Radio Data System)
The broadcasters can provide inaudible addi—
tonal information with the Radio Data System
in the FM waveband
This information includes, for example
* programme service name (PS)
« traffic reports (TP)
« current traffic announcements (TA)
« current regional programme (REC)
« alternative frequencies (AF)
When the RDS is enabled, the radio attempis
to secure optimal reception also using altema
tive frequencies. Regional programmes are
also taken into account.
The switching behaviour is also affected by
environmental conditions and by the reception
and may therefore change

To switch wavebands
The radio can receive stations on the FM, SW,
MW and LW wavebands
> In radio mode, press the Z7 or

lowing order: FM, AFM, MW, LW, SW, AAM
(AMW/ALW/ASW). You will see the wave—
band that is currently set in the display.

You can auzomatically pre—assign stations with
adequate reception to the 6 available station
preseis in each se ed waveband, either FM
AS or AM—AS. The stations are arranged in
order of reception quality

preseis on the FM—AS or AM—AS wavebands
are lost when automatic station assignment
is carried out
» Press the [FZ7 or (FF7, button to select the
desired waveband
> In radio mode, press and hold the SRC but

The display shows A—Store. The system
searches for the 6 stations with the stron—
gest reception and automatically saves
them to the station presets in the FM Autos—
tore space (AFM) or the AM Autostore space
(AMW, ALW or ASW). The station stored at
preset 1 is played.
€» There is only one Autostore space for AM
wavebands MW, LW and SW. If you again
store ions automatically, previously
stored stations can be written to another
AM waveband

Notes on audio AUX mode
The different volumes of external audio sour
ces may result in a significantly increased vol—
ume during system messages (e.g. traffic
announcements). System messages may need
to be deactivated or their volume manually
adjusted.
External audio sources can be connected to
the audio equipment in the following ways:
« using the front AUXIN socket
* using the rear AUX jack
If fitted with an AUX input in the berth, the
AUX input in the berth is connected to the
rear AUX jack
For the AUX jack on the rear side you will
require an adapter cable from Mercedes—Benz
a ories
External audio sources can be played back as
follows:
+ using its own speakers
« using the speakers on the audio device
Note the type of playback when connecting
external audio devices
€D Do not use the external audio device with
a mains power stage connected to the vehi—
cle‘s 12 V power supply. This may audibly
impair playback quality.
Switching to audio AUX mode

display shows either FRONT or REAR MAN.
> Use the \rzy or | F77\ buttons to switch
between FRONT and REAR MAN.
The display flashes if no external audio
equipment is connected at the front.

Notes on operating external audio
equipment
€» The AUX input is optimised for external
equipment that has an AUX output. If exter=
nal equipment is connected that can only be
used with a headphone output, the signal
strength of the external equipment may be
too weak to activate the AUX input automa
icall.
The following options are available for the rear
AUX input:
* XMUTE OFF
When the external audio source activates
the mute signal, the audio equipment
switches to the rear AUX input. Playback
then occurs through the speakers of the
audio equipment. The REAR—EXT message is
shown in the display. You can adjust the vol—
ume and the sound settings of the audio
equipment
* XMUTE ON
When the external audio source activates
the mute signal, the audio equipment is
muted. The EXT MJTE message is shown in
the display. You will only be able to operate
a limited number of the audio equipment‘s
functions

XNMUT ON or XMJT OFF message is shown in
the display menu.
» To change your selection: turn the «s con—
trol knob
> To exit the settings mode: press the meny.

+ wma: CBR, VBR (up to 320 kbit/s)

ial Rights Management) are not supported
by your audio equipment.
Switching to USB device mode
> Press the SRC button repeatedly until the
USB symbol is shown in the display:
USB playback resumes from the point at
which you last exited USB mode.
€» When a USB data medium is connected for
the first time, the system first has to read
the files. READING appears in the display.

minutes to start certain functions, depend—
ing on the external device and the content

may be distracted from the traffic situation.

Only operate this equipment when the traffic
situation permits. If you cannot be sure of

Requirements for a Bluetooth® con—

* the Bluetooth® function of the radio must be
activated (> page 18)
+ the mobile phone must be ready for pairing.
€» The radio stores pairing information for up
to 5 mobile phones in order to recognise
and connect them automatically. If paired
with another mobile phone, the radio over—
writes the pairing information for the mobile
phone that has not been connected to it for
the longest period of time,
@ The radio automatically downloads the
phone book stored on the mobile phone
(maximum 600 entries) and the list of
recently dialled phone numbers.
