Notes on audio AUX mode The different volumes of external audio sour ces may result in a significantly increased vol— ume during system messages (e.g. traffic announcements). System messages may need to be deactivated or their volume manually adjusted. External audio sources can be connected to the audio equipment in the following ways: « using the front AUXIN socket * using the rear AUX jack If fitted with an AUX input in the berth, the AUX input in the berth is connected to the rear AUX jack For the AUX jack on the rear side you will require an adapter cable from Mercedes—Benz a ories External audio sources can be played back as follows: + using its own speakers « using the speakers on the audio device Note the type of playback when connecting external audio devices €D Do not use the external audio device with a mains power stage connected to the vehi— cle‘s 12 V power supply. This may audibly impair playback quality. Switching to audio AUX mode aus FRENT Bs Mess > Press the SRC button repeatedly until the display shows either FRONT or REAR MAN. > Use the \rzy or | F77\ buttons to switch between FRONT and REAR MAN. The display flashes if no external audio equipment is connected at the front. USB audio mode fl: For information on how to operate the external audio device, see the respective operating instructions Notes on operating external audio equipment €» The AUX input is optimised for external equipment that has an AUX output. If exter= nal equipment is connected that can only be used with a headphone output, the signal strength of the external equipment may be too weak to activate the AUX input automa icall. The following options are available for the rear AUX input: * XMUTE OFF When the external audio source activates the mute signal, the audio equipment switches to the rear AUX input. Playback then occurs through the speakers of the audio equipment. The REAR—EXT message is shown in the display. You can adjust the vol— ume and the sound settings of the audio equipment * XMUTE ON When the external audio source activates the mute signal, the audio equipment is muted. The EXT MJTE message is shown in the display. You will only be able to operate a limited number of the audio equipment‘s functions Selecting options > Pross the wer button repeatedly until the XNMUT ON or XMJT OFF message is shown in the display menu. » To change your selection: turn the «s con— trol knob > To exit the settings mode: press the meny. button repeatedly until the display again shows the current audio source or > Automatically; approximately 10 seconds after the last press of a button Connecting an external audio source to the rear AUX input Connecting an external audio source with playback through the audio device speakers External audio source playback can be switched to the audio device speakers: Audio . + manually or « automatically Connect the external audio source to plug con— nector C1 (> page 24). Playback can be switched over manually (> page 14) For automatic changeover, connect the exter— nal audio source to mute (C2) as well (> page 24) Select playback option XMUTE OFF. Connecting an external audio source with playback through its own speak« ers For this mode of playback, connect the mute output of the external audio source to plug connector C2 > page 24) Select the XUTE ON playback option When the external audio source activates the mute signal, the audio equipment is muted.
