Utilizing a net-work of GPS (Global Positioning System)satellites, the NISSAN Navigation System tracksthe location on the map and navigates to a pre-ferred location.Once you set the destination in a map coveragearea, the NISSAN Navigation System will calcu-late a route from your current location to yourdestination. The real-time map display and turn-by-turn voice guidance leads the driver along theroute. These features can be especially helpfulwhen driving to unfamiliar locations. The system may be unable to set a destinationand/or calculate a route when the destination isoutside the map coverage area. Additionally, voice guidance may not be available if the desti-nation is outside the map coverage area. Formore information on how to set a destination, re-fer to Section 4.POINTS OF INTEREST DIRECTORYThe NISSAN Navigation System offers an exten-sive Points of Interest directory in map coverageareas. If you need a bank or a gas station, theNISSAN Navigation System can navigate you tothe closest preferred location using the Points ofInterest entered in the system.“SETTING A DESTINATION FROMPOINTS OF INTEREST” (page 4-10)ADDRESS BOOKThe address book can store up to 50 locationsfrom map coverage areas into a personaldirectory. This is especially useful for frequentlyvisited locations, such as clients, relatives andfriends. The address book function allows easyaccess to frequently visited locations when set-ting them as your destination.“SETTING A DESTINATION FROMTHE ADDRESS BOOK” (page 4-17)SIRIUSXM TRAFFIC INFORMATIONWhen available, the SiriusXM Traffic Informationbroadcast may help to avoid delays due to trafficincidents. Traffic jams, roadwork, closed roadsaround the current location, etc. are representedgraphically on the map by icons depicting thenature of the event. Incidents on the route areautomatically displayed when they areapproached. The SiriusXM Traffic Information feature, via theguidance mode, may help to detour around traf-fic problems. For more information on theSiriusXM Traffic Information feature, refer tosection 4.VOICE GUIDANCERoute guidance is provided through voice andvisual instructions. DISPLAY OF CURRENT VEHICLELOCATIONThis navigation system combines the data ob-tained from the vehicle (by gyro sensor) and fromGPS (Global Positioning System) satellites tocalculate the current location of the vehicle. Thisposition is then displayed throughout route guid-ance to a destination.WHAT IS GPS (Global PositioningSystem)?GPS is a position detecting system that usessatellites deployed by the U.S. government. Thisnavigation system receives radio signals fromthree or more different satellites that orbit13,049 miles (21,000 km) above the earth inspace, and detects the position of the vehicle byutilizing the principle of triangulation.DETAILED MAP COVERAGE (MCA)FOR THE NAVIGATION SYSTEMThis system is designed to help you reach yourdestination, and also performs other functions asoutlined in this manual. However, you, the driver, must use the system safely and properly. Infor-mation concerning road conditions, traffic signsand the availability of services may not always beup-to-date. The system is not a substitute forsafe, proper, and legal driving.Map data is available on the provided SD-card.For information about the map SD-card, contacta NISSAN dealer or call the NISSAN NAVIGA-TION SYSTEM HELPDESK. See the contact in-formation on the inside front cover of thismanual.Map data includes 2 types of areas: “Detailedcoverage areas” providing all detailed road dataand other areas showing “Main roads only”.NOTE:Detailed map data is not available in manyareas and is generally limited to select ma-jor metropolitan areas.WHEN A GRAY ROAD IS DIS-PLAYED ON THE MAP●Route calculation may not be possible when adestination or the current vehicle location isnear a gray road.●Route guidance (enlarged view and voiceguidance) may not be available at the inter-section where the road your vehicle is drivingon and a gray road intersect.●Places information and street names neargray roads are not contained in the map data.●The NISSAN Navigation System may not cal-culate a route if the current vehicle location istoo far away from the destination. In this case, please divide your trip by selecting one or twointermediate destinations.●To reach your destination, refer to the mapscreen. Always follow actual roads and regu-lations and drive safely.●The suggested route may not be the shortest, nor are other circumstances such as trafficjams considered unless the SiriusXM Traffic isactive.●Because of the inevitable difference in roadconditions and circumstances between thetime you use this system and the time the in-formation was produced for the map data, there may be discrepancies in roads andregulations. In such cases, follow the actualinformation available.●During route calculation, the map will notscroll, however the vehicle icon will move withthe actual vehicle’s movement.●In some cases, after the calculation iscomplete, the calculated route may not be im-mediately displayed.●If you scroll the map while the suggestedroute is being drawn, it may take more time tofinish drawing.CURRENT VEHICLE LOCATION ROUTE CALCULATION6-4 General system informationZREVIEW COPY—2016 Low Cost Navi 2 Kai (l2k)Navigation System OM (navi)—USA_English(nna)05/15/15—rootXDRAFT - Review copyLCN2 Kai EVO "Lite" NAM
