This could also cause you to losecontrol of the vehicle. There is a risk of anaccident.Only operate this equipment when the trafficsituation permits. Function restrictionsFor safety reasons, some functions are restric-ted or unavailable while the vehicle is in motion.You will notice this, for example, because:Ryou will not be able to select certain menuitemsRyou will see a message to this effectCleaningTo clean, use a slightly damp cloth. The clothmust be soft and lint-free. For stubborn dirt, youcan use a mild cleaning agent. In particular, donot clean the display with alcohol, acid or anabrasive cleaning agent.Introduction 7ZQualified specialist workshopTherefore, have all work on and modifications toelectronic components carried out at a qualifiedworkshop. It has the necessary specialist knowl-edge and tools for the work required. In partic-ular, work relevant to safety or on safety-relatedsystems must be carried out at a qualified spe-cialist workshop.A Mercedes-Benz Service Centre is a qualifiedspecialist workshop.

Searching for and authorising a Blue-tooth® deviceWhen using your Bluetooth® device with themultimedia system for the first time, you willneed to search for the Bluetooth® device andthen authorise it.Depending on the Bluetooth® device used, apairing code has to be entered into the Blue-tooth® device or a prompt confirmed on theBluetooth® device.The search must be started on the Bluetooth®device.XSelect :.A list of Bluetooth® devices that are alreadyauthorised appears.XSelect Add device.The multimedia system is visible for otherBluetooth® devices for five minutes.XStart a search for other Bluetooth® devices onthe Bluetooth® device (see the manufactur-er's operating instructions).XSelect the multimedia system on the Blue-tooth® device.XObserve any possible messages on the Blue-tooth® device or on the multimedia system.After the Bluetooth® device has been author-ised, it is automatically connected to the mul-timedia system.iYou can authorise a maximum of ten Blue-tooth® devices at one time. If ten Bluetooth®devices are already authorised, a Bluetooth®device must be de-authorised before a newBluetooth® device can be authorised(Y page 13).Connecting a Bluetooth® deviceA previously authorised Bluetooth® device canbe connected to the multimedia system eithermanually or automatically. Starting the voice control systemDo not use the voice control system in an emer-gency as the sound of your voice can change instressful situations.iThe voice control system is not available inall languages.iMake sure you speak clearly and loudlyenough for the multimedia system to recog-nise your voice commands correctly.iNote that vehicle noises, e.g. from open sidewindows or other noises in the cab, may inter-fere with the voice control system.iThe multimedia system is also able to rec-ognise a voice command when you use syn-onymous words or similar formulation, e.g."tuner" instead of "radio". Use the words andformulations shown in the screen or thoseread out by the multimedia system. This helpsto ensure that the multimedia system recog-nises the desired voice command.iThe voice control system cannot be activa-ted during a telephone call or while the phoneis ringing.XPress the ? button.The current audio source is muted. A menuappears on the screen listing possible voicecommands for the main function currentlyselected. A tone indicates that the voice con-trol system is ready for operation. The multi-media system is ready to receive a voice com-mand.iIf the set system language is not supportedby the voice control system, a correspondingmessage appears. The voice control systemcannot be activated.Saying voice commandsXSay a possible voice command.The multimedia system repeats the recog-nised command and carries out the action.
