This could also cause you to lose control of the vehicle. There is a risk of an accident. Only operate this equipment when the traffic situation permits. If you cannot be sure of this, stop the vehicle paying attention to road and traffic conditions and operate the equipment with the vehicle stationary. Observe the legal requirements for the country you are in. Bear in mind that, at a speed of only 50 km/h your vehicle is covering a distance of nearly 14 m per second. When using the device please follow: Rthe safety notes in these operating instructions Rtraffic laws and regulations Rlaws pertaining to motor vehicles and safety standards G WARNING Modifications to electronic components, their software as well as wiring could affect their function and/or the operation of other networked components. This could in particular also be the case for systems relevant to safety. They might not function properly anymore and/or jeopardise the operational safety of the vehicle. There is an increased risk of an accident and injury. Do not attempt to modify the wiring as well as electronic components or their software. Always have work on electrical and electronic components carried out at a qualified specialist workshop. Correct use The multimedia system: radio stations Rplays audio files on SD cards and other data carriers Rmakes telephone calls via the Bluetooth® function Rreceives Equipment This Supplement describes the multimedia system with all standard and optional equipment available at the time of going to print. Countryspecific deviations are possible. Bear in mind that your multimedia system may not be equipped with all the functions described. This also applies to safety-relevant systems and functions. The equipment level of your multimedia system may therefore differ from that shown in some descriptions and illustrations. Contact a Mercedes-Benz Service Centre if you have any questions about equipment or operation. This Supplement is an integral part of the vehicle. Keep it in the vehicle along with the Operating Instructions. This logo is a registered trademark of SanDisk Corporation. Introduction Function restrictions For safety reasons, some functions are restricted or unavailable while the vehicle is in motion. You will notice this, for example, because: Ryou will not be able to select certain menu items Ryou will see a message to this effect Cleaning Qualified specialist workshop Therefore, have all work on and modifications to electronic components carried out at a qualified workshop. It has the necessary specialist knowledge and tools for the work required. In particular, work relevant to safety or on safety-related systems must be carried out at a qualified specialist workshop. A Mercedes-Benz Service Centre is a qualified specialist workshop. To clean, use a slightly damp cloth. The cloth must be soft and lint-free. For stubborn dirt, you can use a mild cleaning agent. In particular, do not clean the display with alcohol, acid or an abrasive cleaning agent. Screen operation At a glance Screen operation Confirming a selection Notes on the screen Do not press too firmly with your fingers on the screen. This can result in a malfunction. Moving the view Press the touch-sensitive surface with one finger until the point of resistance is reached. A menu item or option is selected. Opening the menu Touch the touch-sensitive surface with one finger. X Swipe up, down, to the left or to the right. The selection in the display moves according to the direction of the movements. You can navigate in lists or menus in this way. Rapid view change Press and hold the touch-sensitive surface with one finger until the menu opens. Zooming in the view Touch the touch-sensitive surface with one finger and quickly swipe it to the left or right. The selection in the display quickly moves according to the direction of movement. This allows you to navigate through lists or menus or move the map. Multimedia system overview Place two fingers a short distance apart on the touch-sensitive surface. X Slide your fingers apart. The view will zoom in. You can also switch the multimedia system on or off manually. X To switch on manually: briefly press the Ü button. or Entering the PIN Press the bottom of the volume control. Switching the mute function on/off To switch off manually: press and hold the Ü button. i If the multimedia system is switched off and a call is received, the multimedia system is automatically switched on. To decrease the volume: swipe downwards on the volume control with your finger. Briefly press the Ü button. The sound is switched on or muted. Displaying the start menu Press the Þ button. Displaying and selecting quick access i If PIN protection is activated and the multi- media system has been disconnected from the voltage supply, you will need to enter the PIN after switching on the multimedia system. If the PIN is entered incorrectly too many times, the multimedia system is locked. In this case, have the multimedia system unlocked at a qualified workshop. X Enter the PIN using the keypad. X To delete an entry: select %. X To confirm the PIN: select OK. Press the Þ button. Select f. Available quick accesses : are displayed. X Select the desired quick access. Adjusting the volume Press the volume control. The volume display appears. X To increase the volume: swipe upwards on the volume control with your finger. or X Press the top of the volume control. Date and time settings Adjusting the treble and bass The sound settings can be selected to suit a variety of different audio sources. X Press the ì button in the desired audio mode. X Select Sound settings. X Select the desired setting for the Bass and Treble. Increasing the AUX volume Press the ì button in audio mode. Select Tone settings. X Select Aux level. X Select the desired volume level. Switching the system sounds on or off Press the ì button in audio mode. Select Sound settings. X Select System beep. The O tick indicates the activated function. Adjusting the balance and fader The sound settings can be selected to suit a variety of different audio sources. The fader and balance settings can be used to adjust the surround sound to the left, right, front or rear within the vehicle. X Press the ì button in the desired audio mode. X Select Sound settings. X Select the desired settings for the Balance and Fader. Selecting an equaliser setting Different sound profiles can be selected under equalizer, e.g. Rock, Pop, or Classical. X Press the ì button in the desired audio mode. X Select Sound settings. X Select Equalizer presets. X Select the desired setting. The # dot indicates the current setting. Adjusting the screen brightness The brightness for day and night mode can be set separately. X Press the ì button in the start menu. X Select Display. X Select Brightness. X To activate PIN protection: select Secur‐ ity PIN protection. The O tick indicates the activated function. An input window appears. X Enter the PIN. X Select OK. X Re-enter the new PIN. X Select OK. PIN protection is activated. X To deactivate PIN protection: select Security PIN protection. X Enter the PIN. X Select OK. PIN protection is deactivated. Changing the security code Press the ì button in the start menu. Select Change security PIN. An input window appears. X Enter the PIN. X Select OK. An input window appears. X Enter a new PIN. X Select OK. X Re-enter the new PIN. X Select OK. The new PIN is saved. Resetting to factory settings This function returns the settings of the multimedia system to the factory settings. This will delete all personal settings. X Press the ì button in the start menu. X Select Reset to factory settings. A prompt appears asking whether you wish to reset the multimedia system to the factory settings. X To cancel: select No. The process is cancelled. X To reset: select Yes. A message appears. The multimedia system is reset to its factory settings. Bluetooth® connection Requirements for a Bluetooth® connection You can connect Bluetooth®-compatible mobile phones and other audio equipment to the multimedia system. To do so, the following conditions must be met: Rmobile phones must support Hands Free Profile 1.0 or above Rthe Bluetooth® device must be located inside the vehicle in the vicinity of the multimedia system Revery Bluetooth® device has a Bluetooth® name, which you can choose yourself RBluetooth® must be activated on both the multimedia system and on the respective Bluetooth® device Rthe Bluetooth® device must be visible for the multimedia system Rthe Bluetooth® device must support the audio profile A2DP Switching Bluetooth® on or off Bluetooth® is activated as standard and cannot be deactivated. If you select Connect a new device, the multimedia system will automatically become visible for other Bluetooth® devices for five minutes. Bluetooth® connection When using your Bluetooth® device with the multimedia system for the first time, you will need to search for the Bluetooth® device and then authorise it. Depending on the Bluetooth® device used, a pairing code has to be entered into the Bluetooth® device or a prompt confirmed on the Bluetooth® device. The search must be started on the Bluetooth® device. X Select :. A list of Bluetooth® devices that are already authorised appears. X Select Add device. The multimedia system is visible for other Bluetooth® devices for five minutes. X Start a search for other Bluetooth® devices on the Bluetooth® device (see the manufacturer's operating instructions). X Select the multimedia system on the Bluetooth® device. X Observe any possible messages on the Bluetooth® device or on the multimedia system. After the Bluetooth® device has been authorised, it is automatically connected to the multimedia system. i You can authorise a maximum of ten Blue- tooth® devices at one time. If ten Bluetooth® devices are already authorised, a Bluetooth® device must be de-authorised before a new Bluetooth® device can be authorised (Y page 13). Connecting a Bluetooth® device A previously authorised Bluetooth® device can be connected to the multimedia system either manually or automatically. After switching on, the multimedia system automatically attempts to connect to the last connected Bluetooth® device. X To connect manually: select :. A list of Bluetooth® devices that are already authorised appears. X Select the desired Bluetooth® device from the list. The Bluetooth® device is connected to the multimedia system. De-authorising the Bluetooth® device Select :. A list of authorised Bluetooth® devices appears. X Select : beside the Bluetooth® device to be de-authorised. A prompt appears, asking whether you really wish to de-authorise this device. X To not de-authorise: select No. X To authorise: select Yes. The Bluetooth® device is de-authorised and deleted from the list of authorised Bluetooth® devices. System settings Searching for and authorising a Bluetooth® device 13 Closing the voice control system 14 Starting the voice control system Do not use the voice control system in an emergency as the sound of your voice can change in stressful situations. i The voice control system is not available in Voice control system all languages. i Make sure you speak clearly and loudly enough for the multimedia system to recognise your voice commands correctly. i Note that vehicle noises, e.g. from open side windows or other noises in the cab, may interfere with the voice control system. i The multimedia system is also able to rec- ognise a voice command when you use synonymous words or similar formulation, e.g. "tuner" instead of "radio". Use the words and formulations shown in the screen or those read out by the multimedia system. This helps to ensure that the multimedia system recognises the desired voice command. i The voice control system cannot be activa- ted during a telephone call or while the phone is ringing. X Press the ? button. The current audio source is muted. A menu appears on the screen listing possible voice commands for the main function currently selected. A tone indicates that the voice control system is ready for operation. The multimedia system is ready to receive a voice command. i If the set system language is not supported by the voice control system, a corresponding message appears. The voice control system cannot be activated. Saying voice commands Say a possible voice command. The multimedia system repeats the recognised command and carries out the action. If the multimedia system does not recognise the voice command, it issues the Please give a command announcement. X Repeat the voice command or say another possible voice command. If the multimedia system still does not recognise the voice command, it lists a number of voice commands from the current menu. X Repeat the voice command or say another possible voice command. If the multimedia system still does not recognise the voice command, it issues the Cancel announcement and deactivates voice control. Closing the voice control system You can deactivate the voice control system at any time. Say the Cancel voice command. The multimedia system deactivates the voice control system and displays the last active menu. or Press the Þ button. Contacts A Keypad 112 emergency call Making emergency calls without entering a PIN is only possible directly via the mobile phone. The 112 emergency call number is a public service.
