Servicing the vehicleWhen servicing (i.e. changing the oil, washing your car) your automobile, the NUSTART system should be in Valet Mode.There is a safety shutdown switch under the hood that deactivates the remote starter function if the hood is open. However,if the switch has been damaged or the switch has been installed improperly, the vehicle may start when Button IIis pressedfor 2 seconds even if the hood is open. 2. Loaning your vehicle to othersWhenever you loan your vehicle to an individual who is not familiar with NUSTART, please put the vehicle in Valet mode.This will prevent the vehicle loaner from accidentally activating the NUSTART auto-security system.  3. For manual transmission vehiclesIf the NUSTART Nu4000R, Nu4000R-2nd  is installed in a manual transmission vehicle, extra precautions are requiredbecause the NUSTART does not monitor the gear shift :Under normal circumstances, Reservation Mode is cancelled when a door or hatchback opens.  Please verify if theopening of any door or hatchback cancels Reservation Mode. If any of the doors or hatchback is not monitored byNUSTART because of improper installation or a faulty dome light  switch, do not use the NUSTART and take your vehicle to the dealerimmediately for repair.  Do not set Reservation Mode when the window(s)  are open or if there is anyone inside of the vehicle includinganimals. Important!

There are differing icons that will appear on your NUSTATGLO LCD indicating what  your vehicle is currentlydoing. The model name, Nu4500R  is a Two Way Frequency Modulation Remote with Liquid Crystal Display. 9         By Firstech, LLC    By Firstech, LLC         8Remote-Pager Learn RoutineIf you replace or add additional remotes, you can program up to three remotes, please perform the following procedure:Step1 : Activate Valet/Programming mode by manually turning the ignition on and off five times (between Acc and On) with car key within a 10 secondperiod. The parking light will flash once with successful completion of this step.Step2 : Within a 10 second period after cycling the ignition for the 5th time, press button I. The car parking lights will flash once to confirm that the transmitter has been programmed. Continue program the additional remotes. The parking lights will flash two times whenthe programming mode is expired.Alarm ModeYou can arm or disarm alarm mode by pressing Button I for a 1/2 second. Press Buttons (I+II) for a 1/2second to make your car sirenmute when arming or disarming your vehicle. Keep in mind that your car siren will still activate for all other modes (i.e. panic, alarm,shock sensor) regardless of whether or not your car siren is in mute mode. The car siren will be mute only when arming or disarmingyour vehicle. In alarm mode, the starter kill function (this maybe an optional feature provided by your installer) is activated.This feature disengages the starter mechanism on your car that prevents you from starting your car even with a manual key when yourvehicle  s alarm mode is activated.Note : If you lose your remote after you have armed the vehicle, use your key to open the vehicle. The siren will go off. Turn on and offignition 5 times with your key to shut off the siren and turn the system into valet mode. Cancel the valet mode with remote later. See Valetmode.Note : (Siren duration is 30 to 60 sec depending on the options set at the time of initial installation.)

The dual stage shock sensor will activate in 30seconds after the CompuStar alarm mode is armed. When the dual shock sensor is engaged, the remote-pagersecurity alerts will be triggered by the following:૆Light impact to your vehicle will activate the first stage shock sensor and the car siren will chirp 4 times in addition to the parking lights flashing 4 times.The remote pager unit will beep and the hammer icon shows up a couple of times૆Heavy impact to your vehicle will activate the second stage shock sensor and the car siren will chirp for 30 to 60 seconds and the parking lights willflash for 30 to 60 seconds. The remote-pager will be notified audibly and a hammer icon will blink in the CompuGLO LCD. Press Button I for a 1/2second to turn off the second stage shock sensor sirens and flashing lights.Auto-Start Function Press Button II for 2 seconds to auto-start an automatic transmission engine. Remember that a manual key in the ignition is required todrive the car. In addition, the anti-grind circuit (this maybe an optional feature provided by your installer) prevents you from re-crankingthe starter on a remote-started vehicle.Press Button II for 2 seconds in order to turn off an auto-started car. For manual transmission vehicles, please use reservation mode.The engine will run 15 or 25 minutes (25 or 40 min for diesel) depending on preset options at the time of installation and then shut off.If your remote-pager has a problem starting the vehicle, NUSTART will try 2 additional times. If the engine does not start after the thirdattempt, please call your authorized NUSTART dealer.Flashing Battery icon during remote start.  The battery icon flashes while engine running .  Each of the 4 bars of the batteryindicates 25% of the remaining engine running time. Continuation Mode:(Automatic transmission only)While your vehicle is running with your key, if you press button II  for 2 seconds, you are now in the continuation mode.  Your engine willcontinue running for the preset time even if you take your key from the ignition.  This is for your quick stop at, for example, a grocery store.Diagnosing problems with Auto-Start If there is a problem in auto-starting your car, you will hear three chirps when you attempt to auto-start the car. 13          By Firstech, LLC    By Firstech, LLC         12Reservation Mode Canceling Reservation ModeIn order to auto-start your manual transmission car, you must first set the NUSTART system to Reservation Mode before leaving yourvehicle. The purpose of Reservation Mode is to leave the transmission gear in the neutral position when you leave your vehicle. Reservationmode is intended for use in MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS ONLY and NOT FOR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS.Reservation Mode must be engaged each and every time you leave your manual transmission car in order to auto-start the vehicle.If you do not want to set reservation mode, shut off the engine before you exit the vehicle.  The engine will shut off for the following reasons: ႫYou did not activate the parking brake or press the foot brake when you turned the manual key to the off position. ႫYou released the parking brake while the engine was running.                         ႫYou entered Valet Mode after the Reservation Mode has been completed.       Error MessagesIf there is a problem in auto-starting your car, you will hear three chirps when you attempt to auto-start the car.  Wait for 2 seconds and thecause for the error will be indicated by the number of times parking lights flash.Note : The system is not recommended for vehicles with removable tops.Important Requirements to activate Reservation ModeႫThe transmission must be in the NEUTRAL position.    ႫThe vehicle windows must be rolled up. ႫDo not set the reservation mode with people in the vehicle.  ႫDo not auto-start the car with people in the vehicle. Activating Reservation Mode  (Manual Transmission only)Step1 : After arriving at your destination, and BEFORE TURNING  YOUR ENGINE OFF, place the transmission in the Neutral position.Step2 : Activate the parking brake.Step3 : Remove your foot from the foot brake.Step4 : Remove the key from the ignition. The engine will remain running.Step5 : Exit the vehicle and close the door within two minutes after activating the parking brake. The engine will shut off and reservation mode for the remote starter is now complete.Your vehicle is now ready for auto-starting. However, the reservation mode will be cancelled if the door is opened or the NUSTART system isput in Valet mode after the reservation has been set.  Once cancelled, you will have to start the vehicle with the manual key and repeat theabove 5 steps if you want to restore reservation mode. Important! If you try to auto-start the vehicle when reservation mode has not been set or turned on, the auto-start feature will not work.When you press the auto-start button, the remote beeps three times,  the car parking lights will flash three times and the siren chirps threetimes. A couple of seconds later, the cause for the error will be indicated by the number of times parking lights flash. 15          By Firstech, LLC    By Firstech, LLC         14  Trunk ReleaseQuery FunctionValet ModePress Button III  for 2 seconds in order to unlock and release your trunk door. Note that the trunk release function will not only release thetrunk but will unlock all the doors as well.  The only feature operating in valet mode is the keyless entry function and optional auxiliary functions.  Valet Mode is very useful whenloaning your vehicle or having it serviced.In order to enter Valet mode, press Buttons (I+III) simultaneously for a 1/2 second while the ignition is on.  In order to manually enter ValetMode, insert your car key into the ignition and turn the ignition on and off (between ACC and ON) five times within 10 seconds.You can exit Valet Mode only by pressing Buttons (I+III) simultaneously for a 1/2 second. Timer Start ModeIn Timer Start Mode, your car automatically starts every 1.5 or 3.0 hours depending on preset options during the time of installation for a 24-hour period.  This mode is deleted automatically after 24 hours or once you start your car with either your manual key or remote-pager. Inorder to enter Timer Start Mode, press Buttons (II+IV) simultaneously for a 1/2 second.Also, note that Timer Start Mode becomes Cold Start Mode  once an optional temperature sensor is installed.  Timer Start Mode should be used only in open areas. Never start and run the vehicle in an enclosed space such as agarage or carport. Query Function allows the owner to visually monitor the status of your car by looking at the remote-pager NUSTARTGLO LCD icons.  PressButton IV for a 1/2 second to activate the Query Function.Panic ModePress Button IV for 2 seconds to enter Panic Mode. In this mode, the car will arm  if not armed already and the siren will activate and theparking lights will flash. In order to disengage Panic Mode, press Button I for 1/2 second. Then, press Button I for a 1/2 second tounlock/disarm your vehicle.If Anti-Jacking option has been programmed  (ask your dealer if you like to have this option) and the Ignition-Kill has been installed , thePanic Mode works as Anti-Jacking if the car key in the ignition. In Anti-Jacking mode is activated while key is in the ignition,a)Siren will go off for 1.5 minutes, and  b) Ignition-Kill will be activated after the first 30 seconds.  That is to give warning to the hijacker forthe first 30 seconds and then to disconnect the ignition to stop the vehicleImportant!

The following actions will shut down the engine or prevent the car fromauto-starting: Opening of the car engine hood, Pressing of the brake or Valet mode is turned on.lgnition LockThis programmable option enables your vehicle to automatically lock the doors upon pressing the brake pedal and releasing the E-brake afterthe vehicle has been started with a key.  In addition, the vehicle will automatically unlock the doors upon pulling the key out from the ignition. This option must be chosen at the time of installation.Auto ArmingYou can turn this function on or off by pressing Button I for 2 seconds.When set to Auto arming, your security system will arm automatically after all the car doors are closed, your remote is away from the vehicleby more than 50 to 100 ft and 15 seconds have passed since the last Auto Disarm . Your system will disarm automatically if your remote comeswithin 50 to 100 ft radius from the vehicle. You have an option for Auto Arming without Auto Lock by option programming.   Consult yourinstaller for this programming.  Please read the next paragraph for the interaction between Auto Arming and Passive Arming.RPS (Remote Paging System)The optional RPS is a feature that allows an individual to page the owner of a vehicle by simply tapping on the front windshield of the car.RPS is automatically turned on upon activating alarm mode (pressing Button I for a 1/2 second) on the NUSTART  Nu4500RThe RPS module can be activated by tapping a manual key producing a high-frequency vibration. This high-frequency vibration is detectedand your remote-pager will beep and a telephone icon will appear on the NUSTARTGLO LCD indicating that someone is paging you fromyour vehicle. When set to passive arming, your security system will armautomatically 30 seconds after all the car doors are closed.  There are two types of passive arming that can be programmed by yourNUSTART dealership:  (1) passive arming with passive lock and (2) passive arming with active lock. Passive locking means the door will lockwhen the system passively arms.  In the default factory setting, the system is armed and locked actively, which means the system will onlyarm/lock when the remote-pager is utilized.Note:  1. If you select both Auto Arming and Passive Arming, Auto Arming takes priority over Passive Arming.Turbo ModeIf this optional Turbo Mode has been programmed at the time of installation, you can turn this feature on and off by pressing Buttons (III+IV) for a 1/2 second. Under this mode, engine continues running for 2 minutesafter key has been taken out from the ignition if emergency brake was on when the key is taken out.  To utilize this mode, the emergency brake sensing wire has to be connected to the emergency brake wire of the vehicle.  Consult theauthorized dealer for this mode. 2nd Car ModeThe Remote-Pager is able to operate 2nd vehicle.  Press buttons III&IV simultaneously for 1/2 second. If this mode is turned to 2nd Car, the Remote-Pager will not communicate with the 1stvehicle. To Exit 2nd Car press button III&IV simultaneously again.  (Consult your Authorized Dealer)Cold Start ModeIf the optional temperature sensor has been installed, Timer Start Mode becomes Cold Start Mode, Under this mode, your car automaticallystarts if the temperature of the inside of the vehicle goes below the preset temperature. The minimum interval between the starts will be 1.5 or 3.0 hours depending on preset options during the time of installation. Cold StartMode is activated or deactivated by pressing Buttons (II+IV) for a 1/2 second.OPTIONAL INSTALLATION FEATURES The NUSTART Nu4500R remote-pager has additional features and expansion possibilities that require additional parts and labor.
