Exposure to radio frequency (RF) signals Your TRiLOC GPS Locator contains a cellular radio and Bluetooth 4.0 radio, each incorporating a transmitter and receiver. When either of these radios is on, they receive or transmit RF energy. When the device communicates over the cellular network, the network system controls the power level at which the Locator responds. When the device communicates with another Bluetooth device, the power level and communications intervals are tightly controlled by the locator so as not to exceed regulatory requirements. The radiated power is far below the internationally established radio frequency exposure limits. These limits are part of comprehensive guidelines and establish permitted levels of RF energy for the general population. The guidelines are based on safety standards previously set by international safety bodies including: American National Standards Institute (ANSI) IEEE. C95.1-1992; National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurement (NCRP). Report 86.1986; Ministry of Health (Canada),
5 Safety and Regulatory Guide Rev. 1.04 Safety Code 6. The standards include a substantial safety margin designed to assure the safety of all persons, regardless of age and health. Your TRiLOC GPS Locator was designed not to exceed the limits for exposure to radio frequency waves recommended by international guidelines. These guidelines were developed by the independent scientific organization (ICNIRP) and include safety margins designed to assure the protection of all persons regardless of age and or health. The guidelines use a unit of measure known as Specific Absorption Rate (SAR). The SAR limits for your device are 1.6W/Kg@1g when measured at the head and 4.0W/Kg@10g when measured at the extremity. The highest SAR value for this device when tested was 0.269W/Kg@1g and 1.677W/Kg@10g respectively*. SAR is measured utilizing the device’s highest transmitting power, the actual SAR of this device while operating normally is typically below the indicated values above. This is mainly due to the automatic changes to the power level of the device to ensure it only uses the minimum power required to communicate with the cellular network. *NOTE: The TRiLOC GPS Locator has been shown to be compliant for localized specific absorption rate (SAR) for uncontrolled environment/general exposure limits specified in ANSI/IEEE Std. C95.1-1992 and had been tested in accordance with the measurement procedures specified in IEEE1528-2003, and OET Bulletin 65 Supp. C. WARNING: For held towards face operations, please maintain a 1.0cm (0.4inch) separation distance during operation of the transmitter to ensure compliance with RF Exposure regulations. Emergency voice calling Your TRiLOC GPS Locator is capable of two way cellular voice calls which may be used to communicate with the individual in emergency situations. These calls may be both received and answered automatically or initiated at the device by pressing the SOS button when set accordingly using the User Web Site or Smart phone APP. The voice call capability is meant to be used for emergency purposes only and should not be used for casual calling. The voice calls operate using radio frequency communication on cellular networks, which cannot guarantee connection in all conditions. Therefore, you must never rely solely on any wireless device for emergency communications. Simultaneous Voice and Data Your TRiLOC GPS Locator incorporates the latest in machine to machine (M2M) cellular communications technology and provides 2G and 3G communications capability. The cellular network system controls which technology it uses depending on the network servicers available at the location of use. Where 3G (UMTS/WCDMA) communications is provided by the cellular operator, it will be possible to track the location of the individual and communicate by voice at the same time.
6 Safety and Regulatory Guide Rev. 1.04 When only 2G is available, only one of the services may be at any one time. In this instance, if an emergency call is initiated by the care giver or the wearer of the device, you will be unable to track their location. Interference with medical equipment functions This product may cause medical equipment malfunction. The use of this device is forbidden in most hospitals and medical clinics. If you use any other personal medical device, consult the device manufacturer to determine if they are adequately shielded from external radio frequency (RF) energy. Your physician may be able to assist you in obtaining this information. Use the AIRPLANE Mode when in health care facilities when any regulations posted instruct you to turn off your cellular phones. Hospitals or health care facilities may be using equipment that could be sensitive to external RF energy. The AIRPLANE Mode may be turned off by pressing the SOS button for 3 seconds; the airplane icon will disappear on the Locator display. Exposure to water This product was designed to be waterproof to a depth of 3m (10 feet) or 0.3ATM above standard atmospheric pressure measured at sea level. It may be worn for bathing, showing and swimming continuously up to one hour. Exceeding the depth or continuous exposure may result in water infiltration and damage to your product. Do not insert any object into the microphone or speaker holes as this may damage the waterproof membranes. Damage to these membranes will allow fluid to penetrate into the Locator and may be a fire or burn hazard. WARNING: If water or any other fluid enters the Locator, stop using it immediately to avoid the possibility of fire or burns.
