79Technical CharacteristicsWeight: 92 gSize: 106x46x20 mmVolume: 78 cm3Original battery: Lithium Ion 680 mAh, 720 mAh or780 mAh (depending on model)Battery life calls/standby: up to 3h30/300 hThe technical characteristics of the product are subject tochange without notice. This mobile phone complies with European requirementsregarding exposure to radio waves.Your mobile phone is a radio transmitter and receiver. Itis designed and manufactured not to exceed the limits forexposure to radio frequency (RF) energy recommendedby the Council of the European Union and ICNIRP. Theselimits are part of comprehensive guidelines and establishpermitted levels of RF energy for the general population. The guidelines were developed by independent scientificorganisations through periodic and thorough evaluation ofscientific studies. The limits include a substantial safetymargin designed to assure the safety of all persons, regardless of age and health. The exposure standard for mobile phones employs a unitof measurement known as the Specific Absorption Rate,or SAR. The SAR limit recommended by the Council ofthe European Union and the ICNIRP is 2.0 W/kg*.*The SAR limit for mobile phones used by the public is2.0 watts/kilogram (W/kg) averaged over 10 g of tissue. The limit incorporates a substantial margin of safety togive additional protection for the public and to account forany variations in measurements. SAR values may vary indifferent regions on the world, depending on nationalreporting requirements and the network band.MYX-1p_EN-15charactech.pmd 14/10/2003, 15:3679
80Technical CharacteristicsTests for SAR have been conducted using standardoperating positions with the phone transmitting at itshighest certified power level in all tested frequency bands.Although the SAR is determined at the highest certifiedpower level, the actual SAR level of the phone whileoperating can be well below the maximum value. This isbecause the phone is designed to operate at multiplepower levels so as to use only the power required toreach the network. In general, the closer you are to abase station antenna, the lower the output. Before a phone model is available for sale to the public, compliance with the European R&TTE directive must beshown. This directive includes as one essentialrequirement the protection of the health and the safety forthe user and any other person. This highest SAR value for this model phone when testedfor compliance against the standard was: 0.64 W/kg.While there may be differences between the SAR levelsof various phones and and at various positions, they allmeet the EU requirements for RF exposure.Advice for limiting exposure to radiofrequency (RF) fields:For individuals concerned about limiting their exposure toRF fields, the World Health Organization (WHO) providesthe following advice:Precautionary measures: Individuals: Present scientificinformation does not indicate the need for any specialprecautions for the use of mobile phones. If individualsare concerned, they might choose to limit their own ortheir children’s’ RF exposure by limiting the length of calls,or using «hands-free» devices to keep mobile phonesaway from the head and body.
