Thank you lor purchasing the XP108w battery-powered portable sound system. featuring
wireless Bluetooth® connectivity. to stream audio irom your smart phone, tablet. or
computer. The XP108w is a complete all-in-one solution providing the flexibility at a four-
channel mixer (with inputs for a microphone and line level devices). a line output tor linking
multiple speakers. and a master EQ. For a completely untethered performance. the XPlOSw
includes a wireless handheld Microphone.
For added flexibility. the XPlOSw mixer has a USE jack lor connecting the Samson XPD
digital Wireless system. creating a dual wireless performance.
Lightweight and compact, the XPlO8w ieatures 200 watts of power weighing less than
24lbs. makes it an excellent complement to any mobile speaker application. The internal

MASTER VDLUME - Used to control the overall level of the speaker system.
MASTER TREBLE - Controls the highrfrequency tone of the entire system.
MASTER BASS - Controls the low-trequency tone oi the entire system.
CH1 VOLUME - Controls the level ol the Channel 1 Mic/Line input.
LINE/MIC Switch - Adjusts the gain of the CH1 input for a microphone or line level device.

XPD WIRELESS lnput‘ - Connect the Samson XPD digital wireless USE receiver to this
input. The wireless receiver gets its power lrorn the XPlOBw, so no additional power
supply is needed. The USE connector supplies 5V ZOOmA at ol power to charge a small
portable USB device like an MP3 player or smartphone.
BLUETUDTHO VfllUME - Controls the level of the Bluetoath input.
PAIR Button - Press this button to enable pairing mode in order to connect to a
Bluetootti audio device.

VDICEOVER nil/OFF Switch - Turns the VOlCEOVER ducking on or oil.
BATTERY Level Indicators - While the XPlOSw is powered 0N and unit is not plugged in,
these lights displays the status of the battery charge level.
CHARGING Indicator - When the XPlOBw is plugged in and the POWER switch is set
to the RECHARGE position. the CHARGlNG indicator will Illuminate RED while it is
charging. Once charging is complete the indicator will turn oli.
POWER Indicator » Lights green when the power switch is in the ON position.
Power/Recharge Switch - This three position switch is used to turn the XPlOSw 0N,
OFF or place the system into RECHARGE mode to charge the internal battery.
AC INPUT - Connect the supplied power cord here.
HT5 Wireless Microphone Controls

AUIIIO UN/flff Switch - Turns the handheld
transmitter audio signal ON or OFF. when
set to the “OFF" position. the audio signal
is muted. Because the carrier signal remains
on during muting, no "pop" or "thud" will be
heard. Note that turning this oil does not turn
oft the transmitter power, it is simply a way
to temporarily mute the transmission ol audio
signal.
Battery level meter — This set of three multicolor
lights indicates relative battery power, indicating
whether the installed battery level is low (redl.
mid (yellow) or high (green) strength. One or
more oi these will light whenever the transmitter
is powered on. When all three are lit, the battery
is at maximum strength. When only the red “low"
indicator lights, RF perlormance is degraded and
the battery needs to be replaced.
Power ownrr Switch - Use this to turn the
transmitter power ON or OFF. To conserve battery
power, be sure to leave it off when not in use.
LEVEL Control - Adyusts the input sensitivrty ol the
transmitter. Use the supplied plastic screwdriver
to raise or lower the input level.
Battery holder — Insert a standard 9V battery here,
being sure to observe the plus and minus polarity
markings shown. We recommend the Duracell
MN 1604 type battery. WARNING: Do not insert
the battery backwards: doing so can cause severe
damage to the transmitter and Will void your
warranty.
Quick Start
1. Set the XPlOSw power switch to the OFF position, and '7 . .A
fully turn all of the LEVEL controls counterclockwise to O.
2. ii an outlet is available. connect the included power
cord to the AC input of the speaker, and plug it into an
electrical outlet.
3. Set the XP108w power swrtch to the ON position.
Connect your audio sources.
5. Turn the MASTER VOLUME control up and set the input
levels, tollowrng the steps below.
Making Connections
Channel I (Microphone [Line Input)
6. Connect a microphone using a standard XLR cable or line
level eqmpment using a V4" instrument cable.
7. It connectinga microphone, set the LINE / MlC switch to
the down (MIC) position. lI connecting a line level device,
set the LINE I MIC switch to the up (LlNE) position.
8. While speaking into the microphone or playing music lrom
a line level audio source, slowly raise the channel CH1
VOLUME control until you have reached the desired level.
NOTE: It not using the Channel 1 input. turn the VOLUME control all
the way down tn keep out any unwanted noise.
Channel 2 (Line Input)
9. Connect a line level device using 1/8" instrument cable.
10. While playing music hunt a line level audio source. slowly
raise the channel CH2 VOLUME control until you have
reached the desired level.

11. Physically place the XP108w where it will be used (the
general rule 01 thumb is to maintain "Iine-ol-sight"
between the receiver and transmitter).
12. Fully extend the antenna on the top of the XP108w.
13. On the HTS handheld transmitter, unscrew the bottom
section oi the microphone by turning it counterclockwise
and then slide it off. Make sure the Power switch in the
battery compartment is set to OH.
14. Place a fresh 9-volt alkaline battery in the transmitter
battery holder, taking care to observe the polarity markings.

Turn on the power to the handheld transmitter using
Power ONIOFF switch. Replace the bottom section 01 the
handheld microphone by sliding it on and then screwing it
back on.
Make sure the handheld transmitter is not muted by
setting the Audio switch to the ON position. Speak or sing
into the mic at a normal performance level and raise the
CH3 WIRELESS VOLUME control until the desired level is
reached.
If you need to adiust the microphone gain further (signal is
distorted or too weekl. adjust the LEVEL control inside the
battery compartment using the supplied screwdriver.

Plug the XPD USE receiver into the XPD Wireless USB

Turn the CH3 WIRELESS VOLUME knob on the XPlOSw
completely counterclockwise to 0‘
0n the wireless handheld transmitter. unscrew the bottom 0
section at the microphone by turning it counterclockwise
and then slide it off. Place a lresh set of AA (LR6)
batteries in the transmitter battery holder. taking care to
observe the polarity markings, then replace the cover. U

With the XP108w and your Bluetoolh device powered on;
press the PAIR button on the rear panel of the XPlDBw to
make the speaker discoverable. The Bluetooth indicator
will slowly llash blue.
In the settings at your Bluetooth device, set it to “discover" ~ 5:13» ‘

From the Bluetooth device list. select the “Samson —’. __——_ ,‘—i

ll your device asks tor a passkey. enter digits 0000 (lour
zeros) and press OK. Some devices may also ask you to accept the connection.
The XPIOSw speaker indicates that pairing is complete when the indicator turns steady
olue. You can now stream audio trom your device to the XP108w speakers
With the volume control on your Bluetooth device turned up, play some music, and
slowly raise the XPlOSw BLUETOOTH VOLUME control until you have reached the
desired level.

Quick Start
The XPIOBW leature a 2-band equalizer
allowmg you to adjust the systems overall
high and low frequencies. The lrequericy
response is ilat when the knobs are in
the vertical or 12 o’clock position. Small
movements 0' the controls can make a
big difference. Turning the controls all
the way up can cause distortion. Use your
ears when adiusting the E0 to fit your
application. We have provided two example
settings to help you get started fine tuning
your system.
30. Setting the El] lar Music
If you are using the XP108w lor music playback. turn up the BASS and TREBLE
slightly to produce a "hi-ti" lrequency response that accentuates the low and high
ranges.
31. Setting the Ell tor Vocal
if you are using your XPlO8w with a microphone tor speech only, you can reduce the
BASS and raise the TREELE slightly, which will produce a frequency response that
accentuates the vocal range.

Charging the Battery
The xPlosw has an internal. rechargeable battery capable of up to 20 hours oi continuous
audio on a lull charge. Even though the system may have some charge when iirst taken out
of the box. we recommend fully charging your XF108w before first using the system. To
charge the battery:
1. Connect the XPlOBw to an AC power outlet using the
Included power cable.
2. Set the power swnch to the “RECHARGE” posmon.
While charging the CHARGING indicator will light red.
4. Keep the system plugged in until the CHARGlNG
indicator changes to green, indicating the battery is fully
charged.
The XPlOSw utilizes a sealed lead-acid gel cell battery. When
not in use. the battery will slowly self-discharge. If you are
planning not to use the XPlO8w for a long period of time.
it Is adinsed to iully charge the unit belore storing. It is also
important to charge the unit every six months when not used.
This will ensure a healthy battery and extend its llie. if the
battery is left with a very low charge tor an extended period
of time, it is possible to recharge the battery to working
condition. but the charge time can take up to 72 hours.
If you iind that the operation time of the XPIOBw becomes
noticeably decreased, even after lully charging, the battery
should be replaced. Contact Samson customer service or your
local distributor tor a replacement battery.

RECHARGE
Using the LINE OUT Jack
The XPlOSw LINE OUT lack allows you to connect the XPlOSw With any powered speaker to
expand your system or link two XPlOBw systems together to daisy chain the speakers.
Using a standard shielded 1/4" instrument cable, Connect the LINE OUT on the XPlOBw
to a line level Input 01 second powered speakert The XP108w WIII send a mix oi all inputs,
including Bluetooth® audio. Each channel VOLUME Wlll control corresponding output level
to the LINE OUT jack.
Using a Speaker Stand
The XP108w includes a 13/8" (35mm) pole mount receptacle on the
bottom of the cabinet. This tits a standard 1—3/ " (35mm) speaker
stand. For maximum coverage when using a speaker stand, the
speaker should he raised above the heads at the listening audience.
Take care when placmg me speaker on a stand, to ensure that it is on
a level, steady surface and will not tip over. Use a stand designed to
support a speaker With a minimum weight of 3OIb.

Microphone Holder

The Expedition XP108w includes a handheld microphone holder. To attach the microphone
holder. line up the two prongs oi the microphone holder With the center two round openings
on the side at the XP108w. Slide the microphone holder into the openings until it is flush
with the back ol the speaker cabinet.
Transporting the XP108w
The Expedition XP108w can be easily transported using the
telescopic handle and integrated rolling wheels.
Press button on the top handle to extend.
Grab the handle. tilt the speaker back and roll it away.
