CONTENTSThis appliance must be grounded. In the event of an electricalshort circuit, grounding reduces the risk of electric shock byproviding an escape wire for the electrical current. This appli-ance is equipped with a cord that includes a grounding wireand a grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into an outletthat is properly installed and grounded. Plug the three-prongpower cord into a properly grounded outlet of standard 115-120voltage, 60 Hz. Your oven should be the only appliance on thiscircuit.WARNINGImproper use of the grounding plug can result in a riskof electric shock. Consult a qualified electrician or ser-vicer if you do not understand the grounding instruc-tions or if you are not sure if the appliance is properlygrounded.Due to potential safety hazards, we strongly recommendagainst the use of an adapter plug. However, if you still elect touse an adapter, where local codes may permit, a TEMPORARYCONNECTION may be made to a properly grounded two-prongwall receptacle by the use of a UL-listed adapter, which isavailable at most hardware stores.Use of Extension Cords A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risk ofbecoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. Longercord sets or extension cords are available and may be used ifcare is exercised in their use. If a long cord or extension cordis used:1. The marked electrical rating of the cord set or extensioncord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of theappliance.2. The extension cord must be a grounding-type 3-wire cordand it must be plugged into a 3-slot outlet. 3. The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drapeover the counter top or tabletop where it can be pulled on bychildren or tripped over accidentally. If you use an extensioncord, the interior light may flicker and the blower may varywhen the microwave oven is on. Cooking times may be longer, too.
