3BasicsAbout the EarcleThe Earcle is a personal sound amplification product (PSAP) to help you hear better. The Earcle amplifies the sound you hear and can also be used as a Bluetooth headphone. If you connect the Earcle to a mobile device via Bluetooth, you can answer calls and play music from the connected device. If you connect the Earcle to a mobile device via the Samsung Earcle app installed, you can configure the Earcle's sound settings.Do not use the Earcle to compensate for hearing impairments. The Earcle is intended to supplement what you hear by amplifying ambient sound and does not compensate for hearing loss or hearing difficulty. If you have a hearing impairment, consult a doctor or audiologist for treatment.Follow all posted warnings and directions from authorized personnel in areas where the use of wireless devices is restricted, such as airplanes and hospitals.Draft

8Inserting the battery and turning on the Earcle Insert a battery before using the Earcle for the first time or when the Earcle has been unused for extended periods.1 Open the battery cover.2 Use the magnet at the head of the brush to insert the battery into the slot.Draft
9•Use caution not to lose the battery.•Do not attempt to recharge the batteries supplied with the product, as they are not rechargeable.3 Close the battery cover tightly until you hear the click sound.Then, the Earcle will turn on and automatically enter Bluetooth pairing mode.Sleep modeIf you place the Earcle down and do not use it for a specified period, a sensor in the Earcle detects that there is no movement. 10Using the EarcleAttaching an ear dome to the receiverBefore wearing the Earcle, you should install the ear dome. An ear dome is a wax guard that protects the receiver.1 Select an ear dome that fits your ear.2 Ensure that the receiver is clean and firmly press the ear dome over the receiver.The following image shows how to attach the ear dome to the receiver.Ensure that the ear dome is securely attached to the receiver. If it is loose, the ear dome can detach in the ear canal while wearing the Earcle.Draft
11Wearing the EarcleEnsure that you have the proper Earcle for the intended ear. The Earcle L’s receiver is marked blue and the Earcle R’s receiver is marked red.1 Place the main body of the Earcle behind your ear.2 Put the receiver into your ear canal snugly.3 Tuck the anchor into your concha as shown in the image below.If necessary, adjust or trim the anchor for a more comfortable fit.Do not insert the anchor into your ear canal.Draft
12Adjusting the volumePress the Control button.There are five preset volume levels. Press the Control button to increase or decrease the volume of the Earcle. When the maximum volume level (level 5) is reached, pressing the Control button will decrease the volume to level 4. 14Connecting to a mobile deviceIf you connect the Earcle to a mobile device that has the Samsung Earcle app installed, you can configure detailed settings for the Earcle and access other features.The Earcle is compatible only with the Samsung GALAXY S6 and the Samsung GALAXY S6 Edge.BluetoothAbout BluetoothBluetooth is a wireless technology standard that uses a 2.4 GHz frequency to connect to various devices over short distances. It can connect and exchange data with other Bluetooth enabled devices, such as mobile devices, computers, printers, and other digital home appliances, without connecting via cables.Draft
15Notices for using Bluetooth•To avoid problems when connecting your Earcle to another device, place the devices close to each other.•Ensure that your Earcle and the other Bluetooth device are within the Bluetooth connection range (10 m). The distance may vary depending on the environment the devices are used in.•Ensure that there are no obstacles between the Earcle and a connected device, including human bodies, walls, corners, or fences.•Do not touch the Bluetooth antenna of a connected device.•Bluetooth uses the same frequency as some industrial, scientific, medical, and low power products and interference may occur when making connections near these types of products.•Some devices, especially those that are not tested or approved by the Bluetooth SIG, may be incompatible with the Earcle.•Do not use the Bluetooth feature for illegal purposes (for example, pirating copies of files or illegally tapping communications for commercial purposes).Draft
16Connecting to a mobile device via BluetoothYou can use your Earcle as a Bluetooth headset when it is connected to a mobile device via Bluetooth.1  Earcle  Insert the battery and close the battery cover. The Earcle turns on and enters Bluetooth pairing mode.2  Mobile device  Turn on the Bluetooth feature.For more information, refer to the mobile device’s user manual.3  Mobile device  Tap Earcle L or Earcle R in the list of detected devices.Connecting to a mobile device using the Samsung Earcle appInstall the Samsung Earcle app on the mobile device and connect the Earcle to the device.1  Earcle  Insert the battery and close the battery cover. 18Ending a Bluetooth connectionOn the Earcle, end the Bluetooth connection with the mobile device by removing the Earcle’s battery. Or, if the Earcle is not used for a specified period it enters sleep mode and the Bluetooth connection ends automatically.On the mobile device, deactivate the Bluetooth feature. Or, you can use the Samsung Earcle app if it is installed on your mobile device. Launch the app, tap  MORE → Settings → Manager Earcle, and then tap the connected Earcle to end the connection.Using features on the connected deviceAnswering callsWhen a call comes in, you can use the Earcle as a Bluetooth headphone.During the conversation you speak into the mobile device’s microphone and the caller’s voice will be heard via the Earcle’s speaker. 20Using the remote microphoneYou can listen to the specific sound more clearly by using the mobile device's microphone.This feature can be used in the following situations:•When you are sitting far from the speaker in a large auditorium.•When you want to hear conversations more clearly during a meeting.•When you want to reduce ambient noise and hear conversations more clearly during a meal.You can use this feature when the Earcle is connected to the mobile device via the Samsung Earcle app.1  Mobile device  On the Apps screen, tap Samsung Earcle.2  Mobile device  Tap the Remote MIC switch to activate it.3 Position your mobile device towards the source of the sound that you want to focus on.Draft
