The refrigerator must be grounded.

You must ground the refrigerator to prevent any power
leakages or electric shocks caused by current leakage

You should use only the power adaptor which is provided with the
I.C.E. PAD.
- Otherwise, it may cause malfunction and the risk of fire.
Do not heat the I.C.E. PAD and do not place it inside in the refrigerator.

Do not connect between charging terminals of I.C.E. PAD bottom side.

This can cause reduced battery life, malfunction, explosion and electric shock.
When you use your I.C.E. PAD, it should be used in the open area for
proper ventilation.
Do not disassemble or repair the I.C.E. PAD by yourself.

When you use your I.C.E. PAD, keep your body in a comfortable and
relaxed position.
As the electromagnetic wave, the user should be using the distance
over the 7.9 inches(20cm) between the user and the transmitter.
Improper use of the ground plug can result in a risk of electric shock.
If it is necessary to use an extension cord, use only a 3-wire exten-
sion cord that has a 3-blade ground plug and a 3-slot receptacle that
will accept the plug on the appliance. The marked rating of the

If the refrigerator is not to be used for a long
period of time, pull out the power plug.
• Deterioration in the insulation may cause fire.
Do not use a wet or damp cloth when cleaning the
plug. Remove any foreign matter or dust from the

• If the refrigerator is disconnected from the power
supply, you should wait for at least five minutes
before plugging it back in.

I.C.E. PAD is designed only for household use.
• Do not operate outside.
• If you use the I.C.E. PAD outside, wireless communication
between the I.C.E. PAD and Transmitter may fail.
Do not drop the I.C.E. PAD.
• Adult supervision should be maintained when children are
operating the unit.
• It may cause malfunction and personal injury.
Do not try to remove or reattach the I.C.E. PAD without first
reading the owner
s manual.
• You need to connect to the adapter or put the I.C.E. PAD in the
docking station of the refrigerator door when the low battery
signal comes on. Otherwise, you may lose unsaved data.
Do not use sharp material (Pencil, nail, etc.) to touch the LCD.
• It may easily damage the touch screen.You should use the sty-
lus pen which is provided with the I.C.E. PAD product.
The LCD screen may appear different.
•
It is not a malfunction, but due to viewing the screen from differ-
ent angles, different amounts of light, and ambient temperatures.
To clean the I.C.E. PAD screen, wipe with a smooth and dry cloth.
• Do not spray water or detergent directly on the monitor.

MAJOR FEATURES
Twin Cooling System
•
The refrigerator and the freezer have two evaporators. Given this inde-
pendent system, the freezer and the refrigerator are cooled individual-
ly and are, therefore, more efficient. Food odor from the refrigerator
does not affect food in the freezer due to separate air flow circulation.
Multi-Flow System
•
Cool air circulates through multiple vents on every shelf level. This pro-
vides even distribution of cooling inside cabinets to keep your food
fresh longer.
Xtra SpaceTM
• Vertical room next to the ice maker in the freezer provides space for
pizza etc.
Door Alarm
•
Beeper reminds you that the door is open.
Xtra FreshTM
• Optimized humidity control keeps vegetables & fruits fresh.
Deodorizer
• Reusable deodorizer keeps the refrigerator air fresh and odor free.
CoolSelect ZoneTM Drawer
• You can select Quick Cool, Thaw and Select buttons to quickly chill,
thaw and cool items. Select Soft Freeze, Cool or Chill to control the
temperature of drawer.
SETTING UP THE REFRIGERATOR
Once you have performed the following steps, your refrigerator should be fully operational. If not, check
the power supply and electricity source. If you have any questions, contact your SAMSUNG
service center.
Set the temperature control to the coldest
temperature and wait for an hour. The
freezer should get slightly chilled and the
motor should run smoothly.
Place the refrigerator in an appropriate
location with reasonable clearance
between the wall and the refrigerator.
(refer to installation instructions in this
manual)
Once the refrigerator temperature is suffi-
ciently low, you can store food in the
refrigerator. After starting the refrigerator, it
takes a few hours to reach the appropriate
temperature.
When the refrigerator is plugged in,
the interior light should come on when
you open the doors.

CONTROL PANEL
FREEZER BUTTON
To set the freezer temperature, press this
button repeatedly to change the set tem-
perature in sequence between
8°F and -14°F.
FRIDGE BUTTON
To set the fridge temperature, press this button
repeatedly to change the set temperature in
sequence between 34°F and 46°F.
POWER COOL
Speeds up the cooling process in the
refrigerator
POWER FREEZE BUTTON
Speeds up the freezing process in the freezer.
CHILD LOCK BUTTON
When this button is pressed for 3 sec., the Power Freeze,
Power Cool, Freezer Temp. and Fridge Temp. are locked and
can not be modified. The Water and Ice dispensers are not
locked and can still be used. To cancel this function, press the
Child Lock button again.
COOLING OFF
Cooling off stops cooling in both the freezer and refrig-
erator compartments but does not shut off electrical
power to the refrigerator. To use this feature, press the
freeze and power freeze buttons simultaneously for 3
seconds until a "beep" sounds. To cancel this mode,
press the same buttons again for 3 seconds.
ICE TYPE BUTTON
Use this button to choose Cubed or
Crushed Ice or Ice off.

DIGITAL PANEL
•This light goes on when you press the Power Cool button.
Press this button to quickly return the refrigerator to its set temperature.
•Press this button again to cancel the Power Cool mode.
Power Cool
Freezer indicates the current freezer temperature.
Fridge indicates the current
refrigerator
temperature.
Quick Cool, Thaw, and Select show the status of the CoolSelect ZoneTM Drawer
•This light goes on when you press the Power Freeze button.
Press this button to quickly return the freezer to its set temperature.
•This feature enables you to get ice faster.
•Press the button again to cancel the Power Freeze mode.
If you use this function, energy consumption will increase.
Power Freeze
•
Press the Ice Type button in sequence to choose
Cubed Ice, Crushed Ice or Ice Off to stop making ice.
•
Lit icon indicates the ice type currently chosen.
Cubed Ice, Crushed Ice and Ice Off
•
Change filter every 6 months. If indicator is orange, the filter has 1 month left.
If indicator is red, quick replacement is strongly recommended.
•
When the water filter is replaced, reset the indicator by pressing the Ice Type
button and the Child Lock buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds.
•
To turn this indicator off, press the Ice Type and Child Lock buttons simultane-
ously and hold for 5 seconds.

TEMPERATURE CONTROL
Freezer
•
The freezer temperature can be set between
8°F and -14°F.
•
Press the Freezer. button repeatedly until the desired
set temperature is shown in the temperature display.
•
The temperature display changes in sequence
between 8°F and -14°F. When the display reaches
8°F, it returns to -14°F.
•
After five seconds, the display reverts to the actual
freezer temperature. The unit will then work to adjust to
the new desired temperature.
Refrigerator
•
The refrigerator temperature can be set between
46°F and 34°F.
•
Press the Fridge. button repeatedly until the desired
temperature is shown in the temperature display.
•
The temperature display changes in sequence and
reverts in the same way as the freezer.
•
When ice cream is stored at a temperature above 4°F in freezer, it may melt.
•
The temperature of the freezer or the refrigerator rises from frequent door opening
and warm food. This may cause the digital display to blink. The digital display will stop
blinking when the freezer and refrigerator return to normal temperature.
WARNING
If the temperature control does not reset the temp, unplug the refrigerator, wait 9 min, then plug it back in.
ICE and COLD WATER DISPENSER
Water Dispenser
The capacity of the water tank is approximately 0.3
gal.
Cold Water
•
Push the water dispenser lever with a cup.
•
If you have just installed the refrigerator or
installed a new water filter, throw away the first
six glassfuls of water or until water flows cleanly
to flush out impurities in the water supply sys-
tem.
If there will be a long period of time (long
vacation or business trip) where you won’t
use the water or ice dispensers, close the
water valve and shut off the water supply
to the refrigerator. Otherwise, water leak-
age may occur.

Push the ice dispenser lever with a cup.
•Place a cup in line with the dispenser to prevent

form and is crushed when the Crushed

wrapped securely using foil or other suitable wrapping materials
or containers.

to store cheese, meat, poultry, fish or any other foods used quickly.

WATER FILTER
The water “Filter Indicator” light
•
“Filter Indicator” light lets you know when it is time to change your water filter cartridge. The light
will change from green to orange. This tells you that it is almost time to change the current cartridge.
It is recommended that you replace the cartridge when the light changes to red.
(see “Install the water filter” section for more information)
•
If you install the water filter, throw away the first six glassfulls of water filter, or until water flows clearly
to flush impurities in the water supply system.
Using the dispenser without the water filter
•
You can not use the water and ice dispenser without a water filter cartridge because the water line
blocks at the water supply.

CHECKING THE WATER DISPENSER LINE
1) In order to operate the ice maker properly, water pressure of 20 ~125 psi is required.
In this range a 170 cc (5.74 ounces) paper cup can be filled in 10 secs.
2) The water filter removes particles. It does not sterilize or destroy any micro-organisms.
3) If the refrigerator is installed in an area with low water pressure (below 20psi), you should install a
booster pump to compensate.
4) Ensure the water storage tank inside the refrigerator is properly filled initially. Push the water dis-
penser lever until the water runs from the outlet.
NOTE
A Water line installation kit is available at extra cost from your dealer. Samsung recommends
using a water supply kit containing copper tubing.

ALIGN THE INDICATION MARK
WITH LOCK POSITION.
1) The water filter is located in the upper right hand corner of the
refrigerator. Remove the fixed cap (A) as shown. The fixed cap
separates from the Water Filter Compartment by rotating it coun-
terclockwise.
Remove the water filter from the box and put a month indicator
stick on the filter as shown.
2) If the water filter was installed in March, put on the "SEP" sticker.
3) Remove the Red protective cap from the filter, then position and
insert the filter as shown.
4) Slowly turn the water filter clockwise 90º to align
the indication mark on the cover, locking the filter in
position. Do not overtighten.
Please check that the indication line aligns with the lock position.
Install the water filter.
NOTE
Connect the water line to the refrigerator.
Keep the cap(A) in a safe place for recapping, when you
don’t need to use the filter.

Water line must be connected to drinkable water only.

If the water level is too low,
the ice cubes will be small.

Press the power button on the front of the I.C.E. PAD.
In power on mode, power lamp will be on.
Power off mode
- In order to shut down the I.C.E. PAD, press
the I.C.E. PAD power button for about three
seconds.
- In power off mode, press the power button to
restart the system.
Power saving mode
- In order to turn off the I.C.E. PAD screen,
press the I.C.E. PAD power button for about
one second.
- The I.C.E. PAD screen turns off, but the I.C.E.
PAD system remains on.
- Press the power button to turn on the I.C.E.
PAD screen.
- The power saving mode can be set up
in the Settings function menu. See
page 51.
- The power saving mode does not
work in TV, Radio and Family mes-
sage mode.
In order to use the TV and radio functions of the I.C.E. PAD, the Transmitter must be
turned on.

How to connect an adapter.
Battery Management.

Connect an adapter to the I.C.E. PAD.
Connect the adapter's AC plug to a wall outlet.
The amount of battery power remaining will be displayed with an icon( ) in the upper part of the
screen.
- Full ( )

- Very low( ) : The I.C.E. PAD power will turn off within 10 minutes.
Recharge the battery immediately. The warning message will appear
one minute before the battery runs out and the unit shuts down. Save
your data and recharge a battery with the AC adapter or the docking
station of the refrigerator.
Battery consumption increases in TV and Radio mode.
- The battery is an expendable resource. If you repeatedly recharge and discharge it, the
lifetime of the battery will be shortened.
- If the battery life becomes too short to use, it needs to be replaced.
Do not connect an adapter to earphone port.
- It may cause malfunction.
CAUTION
Use your battery for its intended purpose only.
You must never use a battery that is dam-
aged in any way or worn out.
- It may cause an explosion.
Do not drop the battery or subject them to
physical shocks.
- It may cause a malfunction and/or fire risk.
Do not disassemble the battery pack.
- There are no user-serviceable parts inside it.
Do not open or puncture the battery.
- The released electrolyte is corrosive and may
cause damage to the eyes and skin, and can

- Repeat as the '+" mark moves on the screen. (refer to screen)
- After finishing touch point setting, touch a screen within 30 seconds in order to apply setting.
The Touch point setting will be run when you press the reset
button, or you can select the "Touchpoint" calibration in the
Settings function(refer to 51-How to calibrate touch point)

- "D-Day" means the expiration date of food.
6. [Monthly calendar] Choose the desired date in the monthly calendar.

- You can change a year and month using the direction button( ).
7. [Create new mode] Choose the "Save" button( ) after entering all the information or choose the
"Cancel" button( ) to cancel.
- If you choose the "Save" button without entering a D-Day, today's date will be inputted automatically.
- Food lists stored in a freezer are marked with an asterisk( ).
- Food lists that pass their expiration date are marked with yellow ( ).

2. Hold the pen softly and press down lightly on the center of the
"+"mark. Repeat as the "+" mark moves on the screen.
3. To save the new calibration data, touch the LCD screen within 30
seconds.
- To keep the current setting, wait for 30 seconds.
How to set power saving time.
- In this mode, you can set a time for the screen to shut off after the
last button press. This helps to save power.
1. Press the "Change" button ( ), and then a pop up window is
displayed.
2. Choose the desired time. (After 1hr, After 30min, After 10min, After
5min, After 3min, Always on, Midnight off)
- The default setting is always on.

How to connect the AM Antenna.
The AM antenna can be :
- Placed on a stable surface.
- Fixed to the wall/base/floor, etc. (you must first remove/clean the base)
To assemble the AM loop antenna.
To connect the AM loop antenna cords.
- Connect black cord to the black terminal, and the white cord to the white terminal.
To avoid noise interference.
- Check that electronic equipment and DC adapter do not run close to the antenna wires. Always keep
them at least 20 inches (50cm) away.
How to connect the FM Antenna.
- Connect a 75() antenna to the FM antenna terminal.

Plug the connector on the FM antenna supplied into the
coaxial socket (75)) marked FM on the rear of the system.

Follow the instructions to tune into a radio station, and deter-
mine the best position for the antenna.
How to improve the Radio reception.
You can improve the quality of radio reception by :

Spread the AM/FM antenna out and attach the ends to a wall, in the position providing the best reception.

If reception is poor (e.g. distance from transmitter too close, walls blocking the radio waves, etc.), install an outdoor antenna.
- AM/FM Radio reception quality will depend on your location and the broadcast conditions.
NOTE
1. Extend the FM antenna.
2. Fasten it up in the position which gives you the best reception,
then fix it on the wall, etc.

If reception is poor, you may need to install an outdoor antenna.
To do so, connect an outdoor FM antenna to the FM socket on
the rear of the system using a 75coaxial cable(not supplied).

How to watch TV.
1. Press the "TV" button on the I.C.E. PAD, and then the default TV mode will
be shown.
2. In the default TV mode, a small TV screen and TV control section will be dis-
played. The TV control section offers basic TV functions including channel
control, input selection, picture control and sound control.
3. If you press the small TV screen, the full TV screen will be displayed. Press
the screen again to return to the small screen.
4. Control the volume and channel using the "VOL- / VOL+" and "CH/ CH"
button on the I.C.E. PAD.

- Choose "Movie" when viewing a movie.
- Choose "Custom" if you want to adjust the settings according to personal preference.
Fine Tune ( ) : Select to manually adjust a particular channel for optimal reception conditions.
Air/Cable ( ) : Press repeatedly to select "AIR" or "CABLE".
MUTE ( ) : Select to temporarily cut off the sound.
Pre-Ch ( ) : Use to select the previous channel.
Source ( ) : Press to select a signal source.
- When you connect equipment to the Transmitter, you can choose between the following modes :
TV, External Input 1 and External Input 2 (refer to page 56).
Fullscreen( ) : Press to change to the full TV screen.
If the wireless communication condition is poor, channel scanning will stop automatically.

- To watch TV, you have to turn on the Transmitter and connect the TV antenna cable(sup-
plied) to the ANT_IN port of the Transmitter and the other end to an Antenna/Cable TV.
- If the TV cable is connected through external equipment (such as a set-top box), you can-
not change channels. In this situation, change channels with the external equipment's
remote control.
- If the wireless communication condition is poor or the transmitter power is off, the following
message will be displayed on the TV screen.
- When the tv signal is weak and noisy, sometimes a black screen will appear. If this occurs,
please fine tune the channels or run Ch. scan again.
The condition of the wireless communications is poor or the
receiver is not turned on.
How to watch external device (DVD, VCR...).
1. Connect the A/V cables between the external1 or external2 input jacks on the Transmitter and
AUDIO/VIDEO output jacks on the DVD/VCR.
2. Turn on the Transmitter power.
3. Turn on the DVD/VCR power and press play.
4. Press the TV button on the front of the I.C.E. PAD.
5. Press "Source" ( ) located on the upper right of the TV mode display.
- If you connected A/V cable from an external source to the external1 jack, select external1
using the Source button.
NOTE
- If the TV cable is connected through external equipment (such as a set-top box), you cannot
change channels.
In this situation, change channels with the external equipment's remote control.
- The I.C.E. PAD passed the SAR(Specific Absorption Rate) requirement of the FCC.

When you put I.C.E. PAD in the docking station of the refrigerator,
make sure the I.C.E. PAD screen faces front.
Do not drop the I.C.E. PAD.
It may cause malfunction and personal injury.
After extensive use,the surface of the I.C.E pad may be hot. Be
careful when touching the I.C.E pad and when detaching it from the
docking station or AC adapter.

"Battery is low. Please connect external power supply."

Save your data and recharge the battery with the AC adapter or the docking station of the
refrigerator.
When the following message is displayed.
"Memory is full. you cannot record any more."

Delete unnecessary voice messages from family message lists, and then retry recording.
When Radio and TV functions do not work.
•
Make sure the Transmitter power is turned on.
•
Make sure A/V cables, TV cable and AM/FM antenna cables are connected on the Transmitter correctly.
When the I.C.E. PAD functions do not work.
•
Press the I.C.E. PAD power button for about three seconds to shut down the I.C.E. PAD, and then
press the power button to restart the system.
When the I.C.E. PAD turns off automatically.

Make sure power saving mode is set up.
•If ambient temperature of the I.C.E. PAD rises abnormally, the I.C.E. PAD's power turns off automatically to
prevent it from overheating. Once the temperature of the I.C.E. PAD returns to normal, you can turn the unit
back on.
There is noise on FM/AM broadcasts.
•
Check the antenna is connected to the correct port.
•
Install a FM/AM outdoor antenna in a direction with good reception sensitivity.
TV function,When TV image do not display. (TV audio is normal.)

Change the chnnel, and then return to the previous channel, TV function will be displayed normal.
