Introducing the Mini Dock   1Introducing the Mini DockThe Mini Dock (SMD-750E(L)) is designed for some of Samsung portable computers.The Mini Dock will allow you to connect peripheral devices such as a monitor, a mouse, a printer, a MIDI device and so forth, to your portable computer. And it can be equipped with LAN(Local Area Network) for office use by Fast Ethernet Controller.The Mini Dock supports;•PCMCIA 2.1, CardBUS slot (two Type II, or one Type I)•1.5W Stereo, Line-In, Line-Out•Enhanced 10/100 Mbps PCI Ethernet LAN ControllerLAN Controller is optional feature, so that it may not be provided.Figure 1. Connecting the Mini Dock   3Connecting the Mini Dock This section gives you detailed information on connecting and disconnecting the Mini Dock with your Notebook PC. Turn off your computer or change the power management to REST Mode, before you connect or disconnect the Mini Dock, failing to do this may seriously damage your computer.To connect the Mini Dock:1. Turn off your computer or change the power management to REST Mode.2. Slide the inner door of your system open.3. Pull the “open latch” on the Mini Dock. (Figure 3)Figure 3. (Figure 5)Do not push the “open latch” too hard, it might damage the Mini Dock or your notebook PC. If the computer does not fit well with the Mini Dock, try steps again from step 2 .Figure 5. Connecting the Mini Dock   56. Connect peripheral devices to the Mini Dock according to Figure 2 on page 2.7. Connect the AC adapter to the power cord connector before turn the computer on or wake up from the REST Mode. (Figure 6)The Mini Dock does not operate properly if the AC adapter is not connected.Make sure that the AC adapter is connected to the Mini Dock power cord connector only. If you connect the AC adapter to the computer while the Mini Dock and the computer are connected, it can damage the computer or the Mini Dock.Figure 6.  Connecting the AC adapter

Installing Software   7Installing SoftwareThis part explains the installation method of connected devices’ software and usage.PC Card (PCMCIA card)If you connect the PCMCIA card for the first time to the Mini Dock, then Windows 98 operating system will detect the PC card and start installation automatically. Refer to the Notebook PC User’s Guide for detailed information about PC card. LAN Controller (optional)Network driver must be installed when the LAN cable is connected to the Mini Dock for the first time.
