Note If youre on a call when you leave the Nationwide PCS Network and enter an area
where roaming is available (whether digital or analog), your call is dropped. Hyour call is
dropped in an area where you think PCS Service is available, turn your phone off and on
., again to reormnect to the Nationwide PCS Network.
Setting Your Phone’s Roam Mode
Your PCS Phone allows you to control your ability to roam. By using the Roaming menu option,
you can determine which signals your phone accepts.
Set Mode
Choose from three different settings on your dual band/tri mode phone to control your roaming
experience?
1. Press MENU/OE to aooess the main menu

3. Select Roaming and press MENU/0K

Controlling Roaming Charges Using Call Guard
In addition to the roaming icon, Call Guard alerts you when roaming charges apply. This
feature makes it easy to manage your roaming charges by reminding you when you make or
receive roaming calls. It also requires you to take additional steps before pladng or answering a
roaming call. These additional steps are not required when you make or receive calls while on
the Nationwide PCS Network.

Navigating Through Menus
Menu Navigation
The navigation key on your PCS Phone allows you to scroll through menus quickly and easily.
To scroll bar at the right ofthe menu keeps track of your position in the menu at all fimes.
To navigate through a menu, simply press the navigation key up or down.
Menu Structure
Selecting Menu Items
As you navigate through a menu. the options are highlighted. Select an option by highlighting it
and pressing -
For example, if you want to View your last incoming call:

2. Select Call History and press fiNU/OK. (It may already be highlighted).
3. Press the navigation key down to highlight Incoming Calls and press MENU/0K.
If you have received any calls, they are displayed on the screen.

Managing Call History
Viewing History
You'll find your Call History invaluable. They are lists of the last 20 phone numbers or Conmcts
entries for each call you placed, accepted or missed. Call History makes redialing a number fast
and easy. It is continualb' updated as new numbers are added to the beginning of the list and
the oldest entries are removed from the bottom of the list.
Each entry contains the phone number (if it is available) and Contacts List entry name (if the
phone number is in your Contacts list). Duplicate malls (same number and type ofcall) may only
appear once on the list.

1. Press MENU/OE to access the main menu.
2. Select Call History and press-
3. Select Outgoing, Incoming or Missed and press MENU/ E
Call History Options
For additional information options on a particular call, highlight a Call History entry and press
Options (right sottkey).

0 Send Memage to send a text message.
O Save Phone# to save the phone number (if applicable). If the caller’s phone number is
already saved in your Contacts list, Go to Phone Book appears (See “Saving a Phone

0 Copy to Personal to copy the phone number to the Ready Link Personal List (Only

Making a Call from Call History

Saving a Phone Number From Call History
Your PCS Phone can store up to 300 Contacts entries Contacts entries can store up to a total of
500 phone numbers and each entry’s name can contain 16 characters.
Tb save a phone number from Call History to your Contacts list:

If you have already stored entries in the Contacts list you are prompted to select the

New Name to enter a name directly.
From PhBook to select a name from Contacts list.

Note: You cannot save phone numbers already in your Contacts list from calls identified as No
ID or Restricted. If the selected entry has already been stored in the Contacts list,
Go to Phone Book appears during step 3 above.
Prependjng a Phone Number From Call History
Ifyou need to make a call from Call History and you happen to be outside your local area code,
you can add the appropriate prefix by following these steps?

Managing the Scheduler
Calendar
Use the Calendar to remind you of events or important calls you need to make. You can
schedule up to 100 events, 15 CallAlarms and 20 113‘D0 Items.
Setting the Time/Date
In no service area or Analog service area, it’s nwessary to set actual time and date to use
Calendar fimction. Set the current Time/Date by using numeric keys and/or the navigation key
(right or lefii move cursor, up or down: change value). '1b display the time setting display, press
MENU/0K and select Tools/Emma and press MENU/OE, then select Calendar and
press MENU/OEr
It's available from lZmAM, Jan 1, 2000 to 11:59 PM. Dec 31, 2099.
Setting Holidays
You can set your personal holidays by displaying the data in red on the Calendar display The
default holidays displayed in red are Sundays and National holidays.
You can set holidays from Jan 1,2000 to Dec 31,2020.
1. Press NU/OK to access the main menu
2. Select’lhols/Ektrss andpress MENU/0K.
3. Select Calendar and press MENU/OK.
4. Select the day you want to set to the holiday by using the navigation key.
(right 1 next day, lefi 1 previous day, up 1 previous week, down: next week).
5. Press Options (right sofikey).
6. Select Holiday and press MENU/0K. -
7. Select Set Date or Set Weekly from the options, and press MENU! ,
Options!
Set Date sets the selected date to the holiday.
Set Weekly sets the weekly holidays.
Reset Date resets the holiday setting for the selected date.
Reset Weekly resets the weekly holiday setting.
ResetAll resets all the holiday settings and returns to the default settings.
H'you selected Set Weekly, Reset Weekly or Reset All, you'll be prompted to select Yes or
No.

Adding an Event to the Scheduler
Your Scheduler helps organize your time and reminds you of important events.

Select the day you want to add an event to by using the navigation key and press Options

Select Add Event and press MENU/0K.
Select Schedule and press MENU/0K.
Enter the description and press NU/OK (or press Mode [right sofikey] to select a
desa'iption from “From To Do List").
Select the menu under the following event details, and press MENU/OK.
Description Entering a description of your event (up to 14 characters).
From to scheduling the start time.
To to scheduling the end time.
Location to editing the location of your event (up to 14 characters).
Alarm to select your desired setting from On or 032
Alarm Time to editing the alarm time (number of hours or minutes before the event starts).
Default alarm times are 10 minutes
Repeat to repeating the event. Select None, Daih', Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly.
Press Save (lefi softkey) to add the event.
Tip: Press the navigation key up or down to scroll by week through the Scheduler calendar,
and the Side Volume key to scroll by month.
Event Alerts
There are several ways your PCS Phone alerts you of scheduled events:
By playing the alert tone. (Depends on the setting Alert and Key Volume.)
By blinking the LED.
By dis-playing event’ s description on the Main LCD when the clamshell is open.
By displaying event's description on the Sub LCD when the clamshell is closed.
By lighting hacklight of LCD. (Depends on the setting Backhght.)
Event Alert Menu
When your phone is turned on and you have an event alarm scheduled, your phone alerts you
and displays the event summary.

> Press Snooze (lefl: sofikey) to repeat the alarm in ten minutes;

> Press Dismiss (right sofiskey) to dismiss the event and back to standby mode.
Note?
you press Dismiss (right sofikey), the event will he added to Unchecked Event list
and the list will appear when you access the calendar menu next time.

Adding a To Do List Item to the Schedule

Deleting Items from the To Do List
1. From 'lb Do List display, highlight the item you want to erase and press
Options (right sofikey).
2. Select your Erase Item, Erase Selections or EraseAll and press MENU/OK]
Erase Item erases an item from the Tb Do List
0 Erase Selection erases the selected To Do item at one time. Press MENU/OE to check the
box next to To Do Item and press Erase (left soflzkey) to erase. To check all boxes, press
Options (right sottkey), then Select CheckAll and press MENU/OK.
0 EraseAll erases the all To Do items.

Viewing Memory in Your Scheduler
To view aimilable memory space and options:

Select Alarm Clock and press MENU/Cg. (A caution appears on the display.)

To use this feature, follow these easy steps:

Enter numbers using your keypad Press ] (lefi: sofizkey) to insert a decimal point
Press the appropriate navigation key for an arithmetic option.
(up for addifion, down for subtraction, lelt fiat multiplicafion, right for division)
6. Enter numbers, and press NU/OK for the result.

Managing Call Memos
You can use your phone's Voice Services to record brief memos during a call.
Recording Call Memos
To record a conversation during a phone call:
During a mall, press Options (right sofikey) to display the options.
Select Tools/Extras and press MENU/OE.
Select Voice Services and press MENU/OK
Select Call Memo and press MENU/0K.
Select Mord and press NENU/OK.

To end the recording of your conversation

It also stops recording when the other party hangs up the call.
0 Memo recording is disabled while you are in roamingin analog service areas.
Note: Your phone can store up to 12 memos and the total available recording time is 72 seconds
(maximum of 18 seconds -er memo).

Setting Up Your Voioemail
All unanswered calls to your PCS Phone are automaticalh' transferred to voioemail, even if
your phone is in use or turned ofl'. Therefiore, you will want to set up your PCS voicemail box
and personal greeting as soon as your PCS Phone is activated.

Your phone may temporarily continue to display the icon afler you have checked your voice and
text messages.
To clear the icon from the display screen:

Using Caller ID
Caller 1D lets you know who’s calling by displaying the number of the person calling when your
phone rings. Similarly, if you all someone who has this feature, your phone number displays
on their phone. Ifthe caller’s name and number are already stored in your Contacts Directory,
the corresponding name appears with the number.
To block your phone number fiom being displayed for a specific outgoing all:
1. Press Lil 6 7 .
2 Enter the number you want to call
3. Press @.
0 To permanently block your number, call PCS Customer center.
Responding to Call Waiting
Call Wailing alerts you to incoming calls while you’re on a call by sounding beeps. The display
screen informs you that a call is coming in and shows the caller’s phone number (ifit is
available and you are in digital mode).
To respond to an incoming call while you’re on a call:
0 Press E (or press Opfionslright soflkey], highlight Flash and press MENU/OK .
This puts the first caller on hold and answers the sewnrl call.

1 Tip: For those cell where you don’t want to be interrupted, you can temporarily disable Call

Making a Three-Way Call
With Three-Way Calling, you can talk to two people at the same time. When using this feature,
thenormalairtimerateswillbechargedforeadxofthetwocalls.
To make a three-way call:
1. Enteranumberyouwishtocallandpress _- SPEAKE .
2. Once you have established the connection, press E (or press Optionslright sofikeyl,
highlight Three-Way Call, and press MENU/OK . This puts the first caller on hold and

Call Forwarding lets you forward all your incoming calls to another phone number —- even when
your phone is tuned 015 You can continue to make calls from your phone with Call Forwarding

2. Enter the area code and phone number to which your future calls should be forwarded.
3. Press Q. You will hear a tone to confirm the activation of Call Forwarding.

Now you can send and receive emails, picture mails, and text messages and parfidpate in
Web-based chatrooms right from your PCS Phone. Messaging allows you to stay mnnected to
friends, family, and coworkers 24 hours a day anywhere on the Nationwide PCS Network
Message Types
There are many types of text messaging available on your phone. These appear on your screen
as New Message and include numeric messages (pages), Messages, Updates, and Mail.
New Messages
When you receive a new Message, your phone alerts you and press View (left soil-key) to display
the message details.
Press Call (lefi sofikey) to dial the phone number
Press Reply (lefi scfikey) to reply the message.
Press Go (lefl; sottkey) to go to the web site.
Press Forward (lefi sofikey) to forward the message. (Appears only if there are no phone
\ numbers and URLs in the message.)
Press Options (right softkey) to display options.
Message Storage
Your PCS Phone can storeup to 200 received and 180 sent Messages. When the message
memory is full, a warning message prompts you to erase messages to obtain additional memory
space.
Sending a Message in the Outbox Folder
If a failure occurs when you try to send a message, the message goes to the Outbox folder.
To send the message:
