Mounting the ST-412 Tag with the MB-412 Mounting Bracket
Tools and Materials
• Marking pencil
• Drill with #30 (.129) bit
• Three rivets (provided with mounting bracket)
• Hand-held rivet gun (recommended vendor: Pencom (distributor) PH: 1-650-573-1297 Marson P/N AB44CLD or Creative P/N BAS44-CE)
• One 3.6V lithium battery, size AA (provided with tag)
Savi Technology recommends using supplied rivets and recommended gun to install tag mounting bracket.
Customers use other installation methods at their own risk.
The tag mounting bracket is 5.01 inches long, 3.1 inches wide, and 1.69 inches high. The tag is 6.8 inches long, 2.8
inches wide, and 1.52 inches high.
1. Identify tag location: a flat, vertical space that can have a tag mounting bracket riveted to it. Place tags high
for good radio communication and where they are safe from impact (e.g. inside the ribs of a container). Place
tags vertically (labels upright), as shown below.
On shipping containers, Savi recommends placing tags on the container side approximately 1 foot from the
top corner of the container.
2. Drill three holes using the tag mounting bracket as a template to mark holes.
3. Push rivets through tag mounting bracket and mounting surface.
4. Use hand-held rivet gun to secure tag to mounting surface.
It could take up to 3 squeezes of the gun to successfully secure a rivet and sheer off excess pin.
1. Make sure the 3.6V lithium battery is installed properly in the tag (see other side).
2 Slide tag into mounting bracket (labels right-side up) until it locks in place.
3To enable tab, ensure that the On Designation can be seen through the window on the mounting
bracket. If successful, the tag should beep twice after inserted into the bracket. When removed from
the bracket, the tag will beep once before shutting off.
4 To disable tag, ensure that the Off Designation can be seen through the window on the mounting bracket. If
successful, the tag should not beep after being inserted into the bracket.Replacing the Battery
Tools and Materials
• Replacement 3.6V lithium battery, size AA
1.
Remove the battery cover:
push firmly against the grooved thumb plate to release the catch
and slide the cover slowly down as shown.
When removing the battery cover, hold it as it comes loose to prevent dropping it.
2. Remove the discharged battery from its compartment.
The lithium battery can be harmful to the environment. Please follow current procedures for safely

3.
Install AA 3.6V lithium battery, matching the negative (–) and positive (+) terminals to the
symbols shown in the battery compartment.
2. Replace the battery cover by sliding it into place until it fits flush with the tag case. Listen for the click as it
seats.
Make sure that the battery cover is completely
closed. You may need to open the rubber
plug covering the docking port, close the battery cover, and then close the rubber plug again.
2. Dispose of used battery according to local safety requirements.
The tag does not work if you install the battery in the wrong direction (reversed).
