Subject: Use of non-Scotsman Remote Condensers with Scotsman Remote
Condenser Ice Machines.
Note: This notice applies to the condenser only. All Eclipse systems require use of the Scotsman
CP component. No substitutions can be made for the Eclipse CP.
Some users or accounts may have an unused coil in their rack that could be used to connect to a remote ice
machine, and so avoid the cost of a separate Scotsman condenser. Because condenser application is critical
to the proper operation of an ice machine, prior written approval from Scotsman Engineering is required for
all applications connecting a Scotsman Remote Ice Machine to a Non-Scotsman Condenser. To apply for
approval, contact Scotsman Engineering with the information specified below.
All Commercial Ice Machines are designed with carefully balanced refrigeration systems to provide efficient
and reliable performance. Remote Ice Machines, particularly Remote Cubers, must be installed within the
Installation Instructions and Limitations. This includes a properly sized Remote Condenser and Head Pressure
Control (Head Master).
Improper Condenser sizing and/or lack of or use of the wrong Head Pressure Control may cause Ice Machine
performance issues and damage, which is not eligible for Manufacturer’s Limited Warranty coverage. Improper
Installation may result in suspension of Scotsman Warranty coverage until the Ice Machine is properly installed
and any related damage has been repaired.
Note: In additional to written approval for the Non-Scotsman Condenser connection, all other
Scotsman Remote Installation instructions and limitations must be followed as listed in the
appropriate User/Service Manuals.
The required information for Scotsman Engineering Approval of the Non-Scotsman Condenser includes:
1.

Internal Volume of the coil.

2.

BTUH capacity of the coil.

3.

Head Pressure Control (Head Master) requirement.

4.

Complete Ice Machine Model Number.
Note: A Head Pressure Control (Head Master) is the only acceptable high side management method
for Scotsman Remote Ice Machine installations. Use of Fan Controls, variable speed Fan Motors, or
any head pressure device other than a Scotsman specified Head Pressure Control (Head Master)
will not receive Scotsman Engineering Approval.
