Figure 2 AT&T Model SW-ATT-GB, Glass Break Detector Description The AT&T model number SW-ATT-GB Glass Break Detector is a fully supervised, tamper protected ceiling -or wall-mounted unit with a fifteen (15) foot maximum detection range, 360° maximum horizontal sensing angle, and dual-stage glass break detection. Installation/Mounting & Programming Guidelines To setup the glass break detector: 1. Hold the Glass Break Detector unit upside down and twist the base counter clockwise to remove the detector from the base. 2. Install the two CR123A batteries supplied with the unit paying careful attention to observe the correct battery polarity 3. Wait five (5) seconds for the power up delay. 4. Enter the programming mode on the Digital Life Controller (Information to be supplied by AT&T) 5. Enroll the Glass Break Detector by pressing and holding the tamper switch for a minimum of 2 seconds (See Figure 4) or per information supplied by AT&T. Mounting the Glass Break Detector 1. Place the Glass Break Detector base on the opposite wall or adjacent wall to the window being protected. 2. You may also mount the Glass Break Detector base on the ceiling. 3. Use the base as a template for locating the three mounting holes (See Figure 2) 4. Affix the base to the desired location utilizing the 3 long mounting screws and anchors supplied with the unit. NOTE: for wall mounting the test button should be oriented down nearest the floor (See Figure 1) 5. When attaching the detector to the base, match the alignment marks and twist clockwise. If batteries are not installed, the detector cannot be installed to its base. (See Figure 3) Figure 1
Figure 4 Figure 3 (CAUTION: make sure that the distance from the glass to be protected and the glass break detector does not exceed fifteen (15) feet.) Testing Walk Test 1. Push and hold the test button for two (2) seconds and then release it. The red LED will light while the button is pressed. The green LED will blink once to indicate that the unit is in auto test mode for the next 90 seconds (See Figure 1). 2. Activate a glass break simulator in the area of the window or windows that you are attempting to protect with the glass break detector. The Glass Break Detector should first acknowledge the detection of a thud sound by illuminating the green LED and then illuminate the red LED when the unit detects the crash portion of the glass breaking sound (See Figure 1). RF Test 1. Push and hold the test button for five (5) seconds and then release it. The red LED will light while the button is pressed. The green LED will blink twice to indicate that the unit is in RF test mode for the next 90 seconds (See Figure 1). Glass Type/Thickness Minimum size for all glass types is 11” x 11” (28 cm x 28 cm) square. Glass must be framed, in a wall of the room or mounted in a barrier of 36” (91 cm) minimum width. Glass Type Minimum to Maximum Thickness Plate 1/8 in. to 1/4 in. (3.2 mm to 6.4 mm) Tempered 1/8 in. to 1/4 in. (3.2 mm to 6.4 mm) Sealed, Insulating 1/8 in. to 1/4 in. (3.2 mm to 6.4 mm) Case Tamper Detection Removing the SW-ATT-GB sensor from its base will cause the integral transmitter to send a case tamper report to the Digital Life Controller. This tamper condition will remain on the system until the glass break sensor is
reinstalled and the integral transmitter sends a tamper restore to the Digital Life Controller. Battery Installation and Replacement The SW-ATT-GB sensor includes low battery detection capability. When the battery voltage reaches a pre-determined level the glass break detector will send a low battery report to the Digital Life Controller. When the system indicates that the sensor batteries are low, replace them immediately. Use the recommended replacement batteries (See specification) or contact AT&T technical support for more information. To install the battery, do the following: 1. Carefully remove the Glassbreak detector from its base by twisting counterclockwise. 2. Remove the depleted batteries and dispose of them as required by local laws. 3. Insert the replacement batteries paying careful attention to the batteries polarity. 6. Re-attach the glass break detector to its base. Match the alignment marks and twist clockwise. If batteries are not installed, the detector cannot be installed to its base. General Specifications Operating Temperature: 32° to 120° F (0° to 49° C) Operating Rel. AT&T radio controls provide a reliable communications link and fill an important need in portable wireless signaling. However, there are some limitations which must be observed.
2. For US installations only: the radios are required to comply with FCC rules and regulations including FCC part 15 devices. As such, they have limited transmitter power and therefore limited range. 3. A receiver cannot respond to more than one transmitted signal at a time and may be blocked by radio signals that occur on or near their operating frequencies regardless of code settings. 4. Changes or modifications to the device may void FCC compliance 5. Infrequently used radio links should be tested regularly to protect against undetected interference or fault. 6. RF signals can be affected by metal objects including metal doors or large mirrors. Care should be taken to avoid these objects during installation as they can interfere with proper operation. FCC compliance statement This device complies with FCC Rules and Regulations as Part 15 devices as well as Industry Canada Rules and Regulations. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: 1. This device may not cause harmful interference. 2. This device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. Add this statement about batteries WARNING: The polarity of the battery must be observed. Improper handling of lithium batteries may result in heat generation, explosion or fire which may lead to personal injuries. Replace only with the same or equivalent type of battery as recommended by the manufacturer. Batteries should not be recharged, disassembled or disposed of in fire. Disposal of used batteries must be made in accordance with the waste recovery and recycling regulations in your area.
