P/N MAN-0698/01.01 P/N MAN-0698/01.01Safety recommendationsCarefully read all of the cautions and warnings before using theradio:•Do not use the radio equipment for uses different thanthose indicated in the manual.•For a correct use of the radio equipment, read whatis listed in this user's guide.•Protect the radio from sprinklings of water and/or otherliquids and from dust.•Be careful not to damage the vehicular radio whencleaning the vehicle.•Do not place the audio accessories above the airbagsor in their area of action. If the airbag is activated, itmay not swell correctly and/or hurl the audio acces-sories, with great force, inside the passenger compart-ment where the vehicle occupants are located.•Do not use the vehicular radio if the antenna and/or theantenna cable are damaged.•The electronic devices are sensitive to electromagne-tic interference (EMI) if not adequately shielded, desi-gned or configured differently for electromagnetic fieldsimmunity. If electromedical equipment (ex. pace-makers, acou-stical equipment, etc.) is used together with the vehi-cular radio, make sure that it is adequately shieldedfrom external electromagnetic fields.•Install the vehicular radio following the instructionsgiven in the installation guide. The mounting screwscan damage cables and wires that run under somemounting surfaces in the vehicle. Be careful to avoidmounting the bracket above these locations. The equi-pment must be installed in such a way that it complieswith the national regulations in effect.•Carry out the maintenance interventions on the vehi-cular radio following the instructions given in the tech-nical handbook.•Follow all accident prevention standards when car-rying out maintenance/installation interventions on thevehicular equipment and use the proper tools (span-ners, screwdrivers).•First and second maintenance level interventions onthe equipment are to be carried out by authorizedtechnicians only.Third maintenance level interventions are to be carriedout by SELEX technicians only. The maintenance le-vels are defined in the technical manual.WARNINGThis equipment is markedAccording to the requirements specified in the R&TTE directive1999/5/EC and the Commission Decision 6th April 2000, theEC marking is accompanied by the Class II equipment classidentifier. The equipment (in the 380÷430 MHz and 410÷470 MHzversions) is intended for sell and use in AT, BE, CY, CZ, DK, EE,FI, FR, DE, GR, HU, IE, IT, LV, LT, LU, MT, NL, PL, PT, SK, SI, ES,SE, GB.This equipment requires authorization or license for use. This equipment operates on frequency bands non-harmonisedin the EU.This equipment can also be used worldwide where theequipment is approved for use.FCC APPROVALFor US owners onlyFCC approvalVS3000 GTW/806-870 vehicular equipment complies withPart 15 of the FCC/Federal Communication Commissionregulations.Operation is governed by the following:FCC ID: X5Y774-0850FCC ID: X5Y774-0850NBThese devices comply with part 15 of the FCC Rules.Operation is subject to the following two conditions:- these devices may not cause harmful interference, and- these devices must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.Any unauthorized modifications or changes to thesedevices could void the user's authority to operate thesedevices.Note:FCC ID X5Y774-0850 and FCC ID X5Y774-0850NB apply toVS3000 GTW/806-870 versions only.
P/N MAN-0698/01.01 P/N MAN-0698/01.01•Use only original accessories and spare parts, orapproved by the manufacturer, suitable for the vehicu-lar radio. The use of different accessories and/or spare parts(earphone, antenna, etc.) makes the safety andelectromagnetic compatibility certifications to be validno more and it could lower the user safety level and/or generate electromagnetic fields that exceed theaccepted limits.•The emergency call is a priority type call. The vehicular radio, like all mobile telephony equip-ment, operates with radio frequency signals, therefore, the forwarding of the call depends on the networkcoverage at the moment of the call.•If you need send an emergency call, keep pressed theemergency button for at least 2 seconds, when theradio is switched on.Relating to the radio setting (from PRP), two casesmay occur if the transmission is inhibit: a) the emergency call is not sent; it is necessary todisable the Tx Inhibit function from radio menu toforward a call (even if the call is an emergencycall). b) the emergency call is sent and automatically the TxInhibit function is disabled; from radio menu it ispossible to recover the Tx Inhibit function again.•The E-WHERE is only suitable for vehicles with thenegative pole of the battery earthed to bodywork. In-stallation on other vehicles can cause faults and dama-ge/fire to cables.• Do not take the radio into environments that have apotentially explosive atmosphere (ex. fuel storage si-tes, filling stations, etc.).•After the radio has been trasmitting for a long period,it may reach high temperatures: in such a case avoidtouching the radio shell. The radio complies with all product specifications and greatcare is taken by the manufacturer so that user safety, as faras the effects of electromagnetic waves on health are concer-ned, is guaranteed within the limits established by the interna-tional specifications.WARNINGWARNINGTo comply with FCC RF exposure compliance require-ments, a separation distance of at least 72 cm must bemaintained between the antenna of this device and allpersons. This device must not be co-located or ope-rating in conjunction with any other antenna or tran-smitter.”
