Shakespeare Company, Inc. (Shakespeare) warrants your Cellular Amplifier for one year from the date of
original purchase against manufacturing defects in material and workmanship in accordance with the following
terms and conditions. This warranty applies to the original purchaser only and is not transferable.
During the warranty period, Shakespeare will repair or replace without charge valid defects in material and
workmanship. Warranty does not apply to products that have been damaged or have failed due to accident,
misuse, negligence, modification, alteration, abuse, improper installation, attempted repair by unauthorized
personnel or normal expected wear. Failure that is determined to be of this nature will be repaired at the
consumer’s expense.
Products which have had the serial number modified, defaced, or removed will not be eligible for repair
under this limited warranty.
Shakespeare will not be liable for damages consequential and otherwise arising from the use or inability to
use this product. Shakespeare’s liability is limited to the repair or replacement of the equipment during the
warranty period.
Repairs or adjustments covered under this warranty are to be determined by Shakespeare.
We require proof of original purchase date for warranty determination. A copy of the sales invoice or cancelled
check is satisfactory evidence. This procedure insures that you receive full-term warranty from the date of
original purchase so that the time the unit remains in dealer stock is not deducted.
After the first 30 days following the original date of purchase, all shipping charges to return units for repair
are the responsibility of the customer. Please pack the unit carefully to eliminate shipping damage. It is wise
to insure shipments against loss or damage. Return the unit to Shakespeare Company, Electronic Products
Group, 200 Business Park Blvd., Columbia, SC 29203, Attention: Warranty Repair Department. Please
include a detailed description of the problem you are experiencing along with proof of original purchase.
Shakespeare will return the repaired unit to you prepaid. Inquiries concerning the status of a warranty claim
may be sent to the address above or expedited by telephoning 803-227-1590 and asking for the Warranty
Service Department.
Thank you for choosing a Shakespeare product. Shakespeare works hard to build
reliability and durability into all of its products for maximum customer
satisfaction. Customer comments are welcome. Before installing, please study
the diagram and check parts supplied against those listed.
The Style CA-NEX is a dual band amplifier that operates on the Nextel
frequencies of 806-825, and 850-869 MHz. It will also operate on what is
generally referred to as the PCS cellular frequencies of 1850-1910, and 1930-1990
MHz. The CA-NEX has been specially designed for marine, RV, and general
land-vehicle applications. During operation, the Shakespeare amplifiers
automatically adjust to the operating frequency and protocol of the user's Nextel
or PCS phone system. No user intervention is required.
Supplied parts: One CA-NEX Amplifier with attached 6' DC power cable.
This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.
Prior to returning a unit, we encourage you to contact the Shakespeare Consumer Service Department by
telephone or letter to discuss the nature of the problem. Many times a satisfactory solution can be reached
without the need of returning the item.
The Consumer Service Department is also available for out of warranty service and to assist you with any
questions or problems associated with the Shakespeare product you purchase.

2 High-quality 18-gauge marine-grade butt-splice connectors
IMPORTANT: Please read all instructions before installing. Use of
cellular amplifiers with antennas having more than 7dBi is in
violation of FCC regulations.
WARNING: Do not power up the amplifier without a properly
connected dual-band cellular antenna having maximum 3dB (7dBi)
gain. Damage could result that is not covered by warranty.
Step 5: Connect 12/24 VDC Power
Step 1: Selecting a location for the CA-NEX
Be extremely careful that the polarity of your installation is correct and that
the amplifier’s RED lead connects to battery positive (+) and that the
amplifier’s BLACK lead connects to battery negative (-).
NOTICE: Directly wired vehicle antennas must be mounted a
minimum distance of 20 cm (7.87") away from the body of any user or
nearby persons and the antenna.
Choose a mounting location for the CA-NEX that is clean and dry, and away from
fuel vapors and excessive heat. The amplifier should be within 5' of the cell
phone, and not mounted on the outside of the boat or vehicle. Do not mount the
CA-NEX near the engine.
For safety, disconnect the electrical system before continuing by removing the
negative (-) lead.
The amplifier should be connected to a circuit that is powered down with the
vessel or vehicle. For vehicles, choose a circuit that is fused or circuit-breaker
protected and ignition-switched (often referred to as “accessory output”). For
boats, connect the amplifier to a circuit breaker or the power panel. It should not
be connected through the ignition circuits on boats.
After double-checking that polarity is correct, reconnect the electrical system
ground. The CA-NEX works with 12/24 volt systems only.
Step 2: Mounting the CA-NEX
Use machine screws, wood screws, etc., as appropriate to mount the amplifier
securely. Use caution to avoid drilling through or near fuel lines, fuel tanks,
hydraulic lines, or electrical wiring. Mount the CA-NEX so that it does not
interfere with safe operation of the vessel or vehicle. Do not apply DC power
before connecting the antenna.
WARNING: Use only a 3-amp replacement fuse. Use of a higher value fuse
will cause serious damage to the amplifier and/or your vessel’s or vehicle’s
electrical system and is not covered by warranty.

Step 3: Connect your cellular antenna
5412-P
Cellular antenna
For optimum performance and compatibility with cellular service provider
requirements, the CA-NEX requires a dual-band antenna of no more than 3dB
(7dBi) gain. Shakespeare’s Galaxy® series antennas (sold separately) offer
lengths and configurations for most application.
To meet the FCC exposure guidelines, the antenna should be
installed so there is at least 20 cm of separation between the body of
the user or nearby persons and the antenna
