PTP1 Quick Guide
Thank you for purchasing PTP1. This manual explains basic
operations. Please see the PTP1 Users Guide for more
details.

Setting up to get started
Take out from box and prepare to use.
Prepare player, battery and power adapter.
Insert battery into player, and then plug in power adapter.
Procedure
Turn player over. Make sure
two small projections are up.
Push square button which is
bottom of player and put finger
of another hand on two lines
which are middle of player,
then press by both hands and
slide cover toward bottom side.
Remove the cover completely.
Have battery by left hand and
make sure two projections are
right side of battery and a small
projection is bottom of left side.
Put battery in player from right
side. If you are aiming to insert
battery from left side, battery
hits a part of player and battery
can not be inserted.
Close battery cover. Place
cover about 5mm lower than
closed position. Slide cover up.
Make sure cover is
automatically locked.
Turn player over, front side
becomes up. Plug power
adapter into connection which
is located left of bottom side.
To remove battery, please refer to User’s manual.
Insert/Remove SD card
<Insert SD card>
Insert SD card into card slot.
Front of SD card has smooth
surface and back has some
slits at edge. Have SD card
in hand and make sure cut
corner is right bottom. Insert
SD card to card slot which is
located left side and push it
completely.
<Remove SD card>
If SD card is pushed, card
comes out a few millimeters.
Pick it up and remove from
player.

Power ON/OFF
To turn on/off player, press and hold [Power key].
Procedure
1 Press and hold [Power key] to turn on. (hold key 0.5
second or longer)
2 Press and hold [Power key] again to turn off. (hold key
1.5 seconds or longer)*
*If key is released shorter than 1.5 seconds, it works as sleep
timer. Please hold the key.
Playback
Playback DAISY book, audio file, or text file in SD card. All
contents are stored in SD card in this case.
Procedure
1 Insert SD card and turn on.
2 Press [Title key] several times until “SD” is announced.
3 Select DAISY book, audio file or text file pressing
[Right key] or [Left key].
4 Press [Play/Stop key] to start playback.
5 Press [Play/Stop key] again to stop playback.
6 Press and hold [Power key] to turn off.
Recording
Record by built-in microphone.
Procedure
1 Confirm SD card is inserted.
2 Press [Recording key]. Player becomes test recording
mode.
3 Press [Recording key] to start recording.
4 Press [Recording key] to suspend recording.
5 Press [Recording key] again to resume recording.
6 Press [Play/Stop key] to stop recording.
Moving
Move by fast forward/rewind
Procedure
1 Select DAISY book.
2 Press [Play/Stop key] to start playback.
3 Press and hold [Right key] to fast forward or press and
hold [Left key] to rewind. Player announces 5 seconds,
10 seconds, 20 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, 5
minutes, 10 minutes, 20 minutes and so on. If the key
is released earlier than 10 minutes, playback starts at
the place key is released. If the key is released longer
than 10 minutes, FF/REW continues and press
[Play/Stop key] to stop.
Move by Up/Down keys
Procedure
1 Select DAISY book.
2 Press [Play/Stop key] to start playback.
3 Select navigation level by using up/down key.
4 Press [Right key] to forward or [Left key] to back.
*Navigation level of DAISY book is;
“Section (Level 1 to 6), group, page, phrase, bookmark”
Audio file;
“Album, track, bookmark
Text file;
“Level(HTML only), Page, paragraph, line, sentence, word,
character, bookmark”
Direct jump to page/heading
Example: Moving to page 20.
Procedure
1 Select DAISY book.
2 Press [Go to key]*
3 Input page number by [2],[0] keys.
4 Press [Play/stop key] or [Down key] to jump page 20.
Playback starts automatically.
*To move to heading, press [Go to key] twice.
Connect USB devices
To playback contents in USB flash or USB devices, use USB
cable (short). Turn off player. Plug in smaller connection to
player and plug in USB memory/devices to larger connection
of USB cable. And then turn on player. Please confirm if
“USB” announced when selecting media by [Title key].

Connect computer
Use USB cable (long) to connect computer. Data can be
transferred from computer.
Turn off player and insert SD card, connect small connection
of USB cable to player and connect larger connection to
computer. And then turn on player. Data a can be transferred
from computer.

Safety precautions
Incorrect use can result in serious injury or death, due to fire or electrical shock. Be sure to observe the
following precautions.

This symbol denotes that bodily injury or damage to property may result from improper use.
(Emergency)
! DANGER
If the equipment smokes or gives off a strange smell, immediately turn off the power, disconnect the
power plug from the power outlet, remove the battery and contact your dealer. Be careful burn injury
because the equipment and battery may still be high-temperature.
(Battery)
! WARNING
If the battery pack leaks, immediately remove it from power outlet and fire, and contact your dealer. The
vapors from leaking battery pack fluid may ignite or explode. If battery fluid gets into your eyes, wash
them with water and consult a physician immediately. If the fluid of battery contacts your skin or clothes,
immediately flush the contacted area thoroughly with clean water.
! WARNING
Do not throw the equipment or battery pack into the fire. Do not put the equipment or battery pack into
the microwave ovens or other heating appliance. Otherwise, it may cause fire, electric shock or
malfunction.
! WARNING
Do not give hard shock to it or drop it from high place. Otherwise, it may cause fire, electric shock or
malfunction.
! WARNING
If not using extended period, disconnect the power plug from the power outlet and remove the battery.
Otherwise, it may cause the battery pack to leak.
(Do not insert foreign objects)
! WARNING
Do not insert liquids or foreign objects. Do not allow liquids or foreign objects to come in contact with the
PLEXTALK. Otherwise, it may cause fire, electric shock or malfunction. If liquids or foreign object
should enter the PLEXTALK, turn off the power immediately, disconnect the power plug from the power
outlet, remove the battery and contact your dealer.
Especially be careful the followings.
- Do not use in a bath room, in a rain or under moist conditions.
- Do not spill liquids into the equipment.
- When you clean the equipment, do not spill or spray the detergent liquid.
- Do not put a metal piece into the inside of SD card slot or battery housing.
- Do not use the SD card which is stuck with labels or stickers.
(Power)
! WARNING
Only use the specified battery, specified AC adaptor and specified power cable that was supplied with
your PLEXTALK. Otherwise, it may cause fire, electric shock or malfunction.
! WARNING
Do not connect with the unspecified power source and voltage. Specification is AC100-240V 50/60Hz.
Otherwise, it may cause fire, electric shock or malfunction.
! WARNING
Do not insert or remove the power plug with wet hands. Otherwise electrical shock may occur.
! WARNING
Do not damage the power cable. Do not remove the power cable with pulling the adapter cable or do
not place heavy object on the adapter cable and power cable. If the cable get damaged, it may cause
fire or electric shock.
! WARNING
Make sure that the PLEXTALK, mains adapter and mains plug are securely connected. Otherwise, it
may cause fire or electric shock.
! WARNING
Wipe off any dust that accumulates on the power plug regularly. When wiping, disconnect the power
plug from the power outlet. Otherwise, it may cause fire or electric shock.
! WARNING
If thunder is coming, disconnect the power plug from the power outlet. When the lightning strikes, it
may cause fire or electric shock.
(Repair)
! WARNING
Don't disassemble, repair or remodel the equipment. Otherwise, it may cause fire, electric shock or
malfunction. Ask your dealer for the repair.
! WARNING
If the equipment broken down, turn off the power immediately and contact your dealer. It may cause fire
or electric shock if you continue to use.
(Environment)
! WARNING
Do not use, store, or leave the equipment in high-temperature environment. Otherwise, it may cause
fire, electric shock or malfunction.
Do not leave in areas under strong direct sunlight. Do not leave in sun-heated vehicle. Do not leave in
hot areas such as near fire or appliance which emits high heat.
! CAUTION
Don't use the equipment in extremely humid, dusty or hot areas. Otherwise, it may cause malfunction.
(Electric wave / Electromagnetic wave)
! WARNING
Do not use the PLEXTALK near wearers of pacemaker.
! WARNING
If the medical facility or airplane has specified zones where use or possession of signals of mobile
devices is prohibited, do not use the PLEXTALK.
! CAUTION
Do not use the PLEXTALK near machinery occurring with a strong electromagnetic wave.
(Adverse effect on human body)
! CAUTION
When you use the equipment for a long time or while you charge the equipment, the equipment might
rise in temperature. Do not keep the equipment in touch with the same place of the skin for a long time
because there is fear of the low temperature burn.
! CAUTION
The USB cable terminal has sharp edge. Be careful when you touch the sharp edge. It may cause
injury.
(Cleaning)
! WARNING
Before cleaning, turn off the power and then remove the AC adaptor and the USB cable from the
PLEXTALK. Otherwise, it may cause fire, electric shock or malfunction
! WARNING
Do not spray solvent directly onto the PLEXTALK. Otherwise, it may cause fire, electric shock or
malfunction
! CAUTION
Wipe dust and dirt from the PLEXTALK with a soft cloth dampened slightly with a diluted neutral
detergent, then wipe dry with a cloth. If you wipe the equipment with alcohol, paint thinner or benzine,
the surface of the equipment may be worn or torn.
(Other malfunction factors)
! CAUTION
The PLEXTALK's SD card slot is only compatible with SD or SDHC cards. Inserting other memory card
will cause malfunction.
! CAUTION
Insert the SD card in the right direction. Do not use excessive force. Otherwise, it may cause
malfunction.
(Disposal)
! WARNING
Dispose the equipment and the battery pack following the disposal method which local government
established.
CE Warning
1. CAUTION RISK OF EXPLOSION IF BATTERY IS REPLACED BY AN INCORRECT TYPE.
DISPOSE OF USED BATTERIES ACCORDING TO THE INSTRUCTIONS.
2. Due to the used enclosure material, the product shall only be connected to a USB interface of
version 2.0 or higher. The connection to so called power USB is prohibited.
3. Power is so low that no RF exposure calculation is needed.
4. The charger type is S012WV0500180, output voltage/current is 5Vdc/1.8A. The plug considered as
disconnect device of adapter.
5. The maximum operating ambient temperature of the equipment declared by the manufacturer is
󰜁.
6. When charging, please place the device in an environment that has a normal room temperature and
good ventilation. It is recommended to charge the device in an environment with a temperature that
ranges from 0~25.
7. Excessive sound pressure from earphones and headphones can cause hearing loss.
