HID_C10_Safety.book Page 3 Monday, December 28, 2009 2:11 PM NOTIFICATION This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: • Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. • Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver. • Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. • Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help. CAUTION You are cautioned that any changes or modifications not expressly approved in this guide could void your authority to operate equipment. FCC Radiation Exposure The available scientific evidence does not show that any health problems are associated with using low power wireless devices. There is no proof, however, that these low power Wireless devices are absolutely safe. Low power wireless devices emit low levels of radio frequency energy (RF) in the microwave range while being used. Whereas high levels of RF can produce health effects (by heating tissue), exposure to low-level RF that does not produce heating effects causes no known adverse health effects. Many studies of low-level RF exposures have not found any biological effects. Some studies have suggested that some biological effects might occur, but such findings have not been confirmed by additional research. This device (HID-C10) has been tested and found to comply with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) guidelines on RF energy exposure. The maximum SAR level tested for the AK8HIDC10 has been shown to be 0.8 W/kg at Body. This transmitter must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter. Important Safety Instructions 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Read these instructions. Keep these instructions. Heed all warnings. Follow all instructions. Do not use this apparatus near water. Do not place the unit on a surface (a rug, a blanket, etc.) or near materials (a curtain) which might block the ventilation holes. • Should any solid object or liquid fall into the unit, unplug the unit and have it checked by qualified personnel before operating it any further. • To clean the casing, use a soft cloth dampened with a mild detergent solution. When cleaning, unplug the unit. If you have any questions or problems concerning your unit, please contact Sony customer support. Notes on LCD screen • The displayed image on the screen is not identical in picture quality and colors with the printed image because phosphor methods or profiles differ. Please regard the displayed image as just a reference. • Do not press against the LCD screen with excessive force. The screen may be discolored and that may cause a malfunction. • Exposing the LCD screen to direct sunlight for long periods may cause malfunction. • The LCD screen is manufactured using extremely high-precision technology, so over 99.99% of the pixels are operational for effective use. However, there may be some tiny black points and/or bright points (white, red, blue or green in color) that constantly appear on the LCD screen. These points are normal in the manufacturing process and do not affect the printing in any way. • Images may trail across on the LCD screen in a cold location. This is not a malfunction. HID_C10_Safety.book Page 9 Monday, December 28, 2009 2:11 PM Additional Information Wireless Network If unable to establish a reliable connection to the wireless router, please check the following items. • The wireless router is on. • You are connected to the Internet. • The network settings are correct. • The device is in a location with a strong wireless signal. Video quality • Poor picture - The quality of the video displayed on your unit depends on the quality of the video provided by the video content provider as well as your connected bandwidth. • Black frame appears around the video - Some videos are filmed in aspect ratios other than 16:9. Your unit will show these videos surrounded by a black frame. • Certain programs display a loss of detail, especially during fast motion or dark scenes. Video quality and picture size varies and is dependent upon broadband speed and delivery by content providers. • If you experience problems with the video or audio playback, move the unit and wireless router closer together. • Try using a different wireless channel. There are normally three choices: channel 1, 6, and 11. • Verify that both the wireless router and the unit are not in close proximity to a microwave oven. • Verify that both the wireless router and the unit are not in close proximity to a cordless phone. Please note that some 5.8GHz cordless phones can also operate at 2.4GHz frequencies. • Verify that both the wireless router and the unit are not in close proximity to a device using Bluetooth, such as cell phones, PCs, etc. HID_C10_Safety.book Page 11 Monday, December 28, 2009 2:11 PM No picture • Make sure the unit’s AC power adaptor cord is connected securely to the DC input jack. • Make sure the AC power adaptor cord is connected to the wall securely. • If a black screen appears, press the MENU/SNOOZE button to turn the LCD panel back on. • Check the video file you are playing is a supported video/container format. No sound/Poor sound • Good picture, no sound - Check the volume control. • Disconnect your headphones. • Quality depends on content provided by the video content provider as well as your connected bandwidth. • Due to the nature of Internet video, not all videos will contain sound. • Check the file you are playing is a supported audio format. General • In the event of a power failure the alarm functions will not work until the power is restored. • The unit’s indicator light is orange - Press MENU/SNOOZE button to turn the LCD panel on. • Video saved to My Video Links does not play - Videos removed by the video content provider may no longer be accessible. • The unit will not play music or video files that contain copy protection.
