If poor reception occurs, tryanother channel using the CHANNEL selector.Sending RF signals from the TransmitterThe transmitter starts sending the RF signalsautomatically, when it detects audio signals fromthe equipment connected. If it does not detect an audio signal for more thanapproximately 10 minutes, the transmitter willstop sending RF signals, and the power indicatorturns off. When the transmitter receives an audio signalagain, it starts sending the RF signals, and thepower indicator will light in red again. If the audio signal is very weak, the transmitterdoes not send RF signals. If the transmitter isconnected to a headphone jack, make sure thevolume of the equipment connected is set to 5 – 6or higher. You may not hear the beginning of the soundfrom the headphones until the transmitter startssending the RF signals after detecting an audiosignal.NoteIf the transmitter is connected to the headphones jack ofthe source equipment, set the volume of that equipmentas high as possible without distorting the audio signal. The headphones automatically turnoff when they are taken off– Auto power on/off functionDo not pull up the self-adjusting band when notin use, as this will consume the battery power.Notes•If hiss is hear, move closer to the transmitter.•You may hear some noise when you disconnect theAC power adaptor from the transmitter before takingoff the headphones. After listening to a programTake the headphones off and rest them away on thetransmitter, and recharge them.NoteDo not hang the headphones by the self adjusting band, otherwise, the self adjusting band will be pulled up andthe headphones will be switched on.VOL controlVOL controlTUNETUNETUNEbuttonTUNEcontrol
MDR-RF920RK/RF960RK_U [US,FR,ES]3-264-043-11(1)11GBThe effective areas ofthe transmitterThe optimum distance is up to approximately46 m (150 feet ) without the system picking upsome interference. However, the distance mayvary according to the surroundings andenvironment. If the system picks up some noisewhile using it within the above mentioneddistance, reduce the distance between thetransmitter unit and the headphones, or select theother channel.Notes•When you use the headphones inside the effectiveareas of the transmitter, the transmitter can be placedin any direction from the listener.• Even within the signal reception area, there are somespots (dead spot) where the RF signal can not bereceived. This is a characteristic inherent to RF signals, and does not indicate malfunction. By slightly movingthe transmitter, location of the dead spot can bechanged.Replacing the ear padsThe ear pads are replaceable. If the ear padsbecome dirty or worn out, replace them asillustrated below. The ear pad is not commercially available. Youcan order replacements from the store where youpurchased this system, or at your nearest Sonydealer.1Remove the old ear pad by pullingit out of the groove on the housing.2Place the new ear pad on the driverunit and insert the edge of the padinto the groove as illustrated.Make sure that the entire edge of the ear pad issecurely inserted into the groove.
