Your wireless phone is a radio transmitter and receiver. Itis designed to not exceed the limits* of exposure to radiofrequency (RF) energy set by governmental authorities. Theselimits establish permitted levels of RF energy for the generalpopulation. The guidelines are based on standards that weredeveloped by international scientific organizations throughperiodic and thorough evaluation of scientific studies. Thestandards include a safety margin designed to assure the safetyof all individuals, regardless of age and health.The radio wave exposure guidelines employ a unit ofmeasurement known as the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR).Tests for SAR are conducted using standardized methods withthe phone transmitting at its highest certified power level in allused frequency bands. While there may be differences betweenthe SAR levels of various phone models, they are all designed tomeet the relevant guidelines for exposure to radio waves. Formore information on SAR, please refer to the safe and efficientuse chapter in the User Guide.The highest SAR value as reported to the authorities for thisphone model when tested for use by the ear is 1.22 W/kg*, andwhen worn on the body is 0.97 W/kg* for speech and1.24 W/kg* for data calls. For body-worn operation, the phonehas been tested when positioned a minimum of 15 mm from thebody without any metal parts in the vicinity of the phone or whenproperly used with an appropriate Sony accessory and worn onthe body. For devices which include “WiFi hotspot” functionality, SAR measurements for the device operating in WiFi hotspot mode were taken using a separation distance of 10mm.2
