Single ClearVid™ CMOS Sensor

Light entering through the lens is separated into the three RGB (red, green and blue) primary

colours via a filter.

Each pixel on the sensor is also divided into red, green and blue colours, allowing each pixel

to detect its respective colour element to process as image data.

Using a Single-Chip Imager System enables the optical system to be smaller, reducing the size

of the camcorder.

Smooth Slow Rec with Audio Recording^

The ability to capture video and audioˆ at four times the normal recording speed means quick motions and sounds too fast for human recognition

can now be recorded and experienced in smooth slow motion. This allows you to capture dramatic events such as action scenes with screeching tyres

or sports with the crack of a bat. On most models, a single 3-second clip can be recorded and then played back in smooth slow motion as a 12-second

video. For the HDR-FX7, a single 6-second clip can be recorded and then played back as a 24-second video.

6.1 Mega Pixels Still Image Capture

Capture high-quality still images of up to 6.1 Mega Pixels (2848 x 2136 / 4:3) right from your Handycam®camcorder! This enhanced double

functionality is realised by the combined power of the Enhanced Imaging Processor and ClearVid™CMOS Sensor working together to process huge

amounts of pixel data at high speed. With added sensitivity for high-resolution pictures even in low-light situations, your Handycam® camcorder will

produce the results of a high quality still image camera.

Dual Rec

This function allows you to capture beautiful still images of up to 4.6 Mega Pixels* even when recording in Movie mode. This is made possible by the

combination of the Enhanced Imaging Processor handling huge amounts of pixel information read by the ClearVid™ CMOS Sensor. Other conventional

image sensors could not offer this quality of still image recording nor in this mode.

Super SteadyShot (Optical)

With the Optical Active Lens Method, Super SteadyShot (Optical) uses a sensor to detect camera shake and a lens that is controlled to compensate for

any vibration during shooting. This optical method efficiently reduces camera-shake blur, allowing you to enjoy stable recording and superior image quality

for both videos and still images without loss of data quality obtained through the lens and with less distortion.

Extra Low Dispersion Glass

When light passes through an optical lens, it creates what is known

as “chromatic aberration”, leaving a blue colour fringing to the

edge of objects. This is especially noticeable in Tele or Zoom

modes. In order to reduce this effect, the HDR-FX7’s Carl Zeiss®

Vario-Sonnar T* Lens uses Extra Low Dispersion (ED) Glass.

This ED Glass is made especially to reduce this effect for clearer,

more precise images without distorted colour fringing.

AVCHD Format

The AVCHD format is a High Definition digital camcorder format for recording video signals by using highly efficient codec technologies.

It employs MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 codec for video compression, and Dolby® Digital or Linear PCM for audio codec. This promising recording

format technology is capable of compressing images at a higher efficiency than that of conventional image compressing formats, allowing

for much smaller recordings without loss of image quality. Choose your preferred recording media with either the built-in Hard Disk Drive

or 8cm DVD Disc media options to suit your preference. Both types of non-linear media allow you to enjoy random access with thumbnail

displays of recordings and without any worries about overwriting.

HDV Format

Under the HDV standard, the MPEG-2 format has been adopted to efficiently compress HD image data and record onto MiniDV tapes

at high density, while maintaining high picture quality. The MPEG-2 format is a standard compression method used for video media including

DVDs as well as satellite and terrestrial digital broadcasts. Under the HDV standard, there are 2 types of HD recording systems - namely

720p and 1080i. Sony has adopted the 1080i specifications for its range of HD camcorders.

videos to DVD format and make multiple disc copies in either format easily.
