2. Installatiun and Puwer On
First, plug the AC adapter at the back oi the oeyice, then plug the AC adapter to a pnwer
outlet/socket,
To turn on the devree, move the switen button leaned on hack/bottom side oi the device

3. Introduction to the Main User Interface

You can navigate the menus using the remote Control or the buttons located behind the
device on the right slde.
When the slide show is playing, to quit the slide show and go back to the main menu press
the Back ‘3 button or the Menu bunon twice.
When the main menu is displayed on the Pinstar’s screen, select the menu you want to
enter using the up and DOWN buttons then press the n / OK button to enter in

4 Wi-Fi and Internet Setup
4t! Connect the device to a Wi-Fi wireless network
Each unit has a dedicated email address, which makes it possible ior the device to receive
pictures directly irorn the internet, To receive pictures, the device rnust be connected to
the internet through a wm gateway,
Here is how to connect your photo irame to a local wrrr netwark:
1, Access the Main Menu lli you are playing a slideshow, press slowly the button Menu

1. Scroll to CHANGE SEWINGS and press “ n ,, to enter it
Scroll to Wi-Fi and press ‘ MI The devrce will automatically start a scanning
process to discover available wireless networks.
4. Using the up and DOWN keys to navrgate the intervace and select the Wl-Fl
network you want to connect to.
5. Press the NI button to connect to the selected networh.
Ii the networh has its security enabled, the devrce wlll automatically pop up a Window
where you can enter the security key. All other parameters are AUTOMATICALLY
configured by your PixVSLar.
After you enter the security key in the interiace using the vlrlual heyboard, press
CONFIRM (hen press JOIN, it will start (he Wir '(onneclinn pracess.
Note 1; A DHCP server must be running on your network in order to automatically assign
an IP address to your device. Most personal WY'FY networks run a DHCP server.
Note 1: Connection to Public Holspols or to a network that requires an authentication
with user narne and password through a web page (HTML) are NOT supported by this
product lthere is no browser in the devicei. Ii you use a router with a “guest" access that
uses this web page authentication made please connect to the “mam" access instead.
42 Register and Manage the Device an the WEB
Firstrlime users should register their irame online by iollowme these instructions: 60
to the www.pix-star,coni weopage and click on the “Register a new Pix-Star"
button.
Complete the iorrn, choose a password and an email address you want to assign to your
device, and your device Will be ready to use!
You can find the device ID (serial number also called “MAC ADDRESS") by accessing the
CHANGE SETTINGS menu then the ABOUT menu which gives all the iniormation on your
device.
5. Receive Pictures by Email Directly an the Device
To add a picture to your deyice, simply send an email with a picture attachment directly
to your device’s email address. Your plXcsLar email address is something like
“xxxxx@mypixstartcom" where “xxxxx” is the leit part oi the email address that you
chose when registering the unit.
Note 1: You can send several pictures in the same email.
Note 2: Vau can coniigure FILTERS on incoming emails to select which person is allowed to
send photo-mails to your Pix-Start To manage the iiltering options, log into your account
at pinstarxom.
0n the irame, by going to the CHANGE SETTINGS menu, then PHOTO-MAIL menu, you can
configure the way FinSLar handles incoming pholarmails. You have the iollowing choices:
. Manually Confirm idefault configuration)
in this mode, when a new pimmrmail arrives, your PinStar displays an icon
(“em/atone") on top oi the slide show and a message on the main menu. You can
manually open the pholcrmail by pressing the E. button at the bottom oi the
remote control or by selecting "You have a new message" that appears in the Main
Menu. It opens a window that displays photos individually, and provides the
sender’s email address, date and time (GMT iormat) and the suoiect of the email.
Moreover, you can decide which photos you want to KEEP or DELETE.
The “manual confirm" mode is very convenient ior providing iull control oi
incoming photo-mails.
. Accept Autoashow
in this mode the device AUTOMATICALLY accepts photo-mails. Photo-mails open
one by one and the attached pictures are displayed for 10 seconds then
automatically stored in the local memory oi your device.
This mode is particularly suited ior users who want simplicity, as it does not
require much interaction With the device.
- Accept Automatically
This mode is the same as “Accept Auto a Show" except that the device
AuToMATchLtv accepts photo-mails WITHOUT previeyving them on the screen for
10 seconds (photomails are added locally without any preview). The reception oi a
new Dnulofllall is not notiiied.
This mode is particularly suited ior users who want simplicity, as it does not
require any interaction With the device.
Note 1: Once accepted, the photos arriving by email are stored in the “MY LOCAL
PlCTuRES" menu then “PIXSTAR” and “max" subcmenus.
Note 2: it you delete a photo renewed by email on the frame, you still have a copy or it
online in your personal Pix Star account
6. Share Pictures with Friends Directly on the Device
The deVice allows you to easily share your pictures with your friends. To do so, press the
i4: button while the picture you want to share is being displayed, A menu will show up
which will include the following options:
.5end to a new contac This option allows you to send the picture to another deince or an
email address by entering it using the keyboard.
- Select a contact from the tenant USE: This item is linked to your contact List, as stored
on the www.plXcsLar.com website. You can quickly send pictures to all your friends or
friends' photo frames by selecting them. it you want to modify your contact list, you need
to log in to the web site. The email address truth which you received pictures on your
irame are automatically added to your contact list.
7. Manage and View Online Albums
7. 1 Upland Pictures on your personnal account online.
The deyice can display a slide show oi pictures you stored online we the www.mx-
star,com web site. You can upload pictures «mm 1 diiierent sources: your computer and
online external proViders.
-How to upload pictures from your computer?
In order to do so, you need to create a “PixrstarAlbum” first:
1. Log in to your personal area on the wwwtplx-slarxcm web site
2. choose the “My web albums" menu on the leit, then the “View my web album"
subcmenu
3. Select “Create a new album" and lolluw the online instructions to upload
pictures you store in your computer
Aiter you create your “FlXVSLar album" you can manage it irom the online subcmenu “My
web album" lln this subrmenu, you can also remotely change the displayed slide show on
your irame). Pictures uploaded to the web site will sync automatically to the irame aiter
a iew minutes, please wait,

You can access picrures slored m your online albums irom a large variety or providers such
as Picasa, Facebuok, Smugmue, shulserlly, Google Plus, Drupbox, Onedrwe, FlickR, Pholo
