DeWALT Tool Connect™

This DeWALT Tag is capable of connecting with mobile devices that support Bluetooth® Smart (or Bluetooth® 4.0) technology.

DeWALT Tool Connect™ is an application for your smart device (such as a smart phone or tablet) that can connect and control
your DeWALT Tag.
NOTE: The Tool Connect™ App is governed by separate terms and conditions available for viewing through the mobile
application.

Pairing and Activating the DeWALT Tag (Fig. A)
This instruction manual uses the following safety alert symbols and words to alert you to hazardous situations and your risk of
personal injury or property damage.





DANGER: Indicates an imminently hazardous situation which, if not avoided, will result in death or serious injury.

This device contains a factory-installed coin cell battery. It cannot be removed or replaced.
Chemical burn hazard. Keep out of reach of children.
Do not use in extreme hot or cold conditions. Keep between -30° F (-34° C) and 140° F (60° C).
Choking hazard. Keep out of reach of children.
This device contains a lithium button/coin cell battery. Do not force open the device as the battery can cause severe
internal burns and lead to death in as little as 2 hours if swallowed or enters the body. If the device is damaged in any
way, stop using the device and keep it away from children. If you think batteries may have been swallowed or entered the
body, seek immediate medical attention.
6. If battery contents come into contact with the skin, immediately wash area with mild soap and water. If battery liquid
gets into the eye, rinse water over the open eye for 15 minutes or until irritation ceases. If medical attention is needed, the
battery electrolyte is composed of an organic solvent and lithium salts.
7. Do not incinerate or dismantle this device.
8. Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the device. Avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with
water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or burns.
9. DO NOT dispose of device together with household waste material! Appliance that has reached the end of its life must be
collected separately and returned to an environmentally compatible recycling facility.

Step 1: Download the DeWALT Tool Connect™ application at:
Step 2: Follow the instructions in the app to create your Tool Connect™ account.
Step 3: Connect your DeWALT Tag with the DeWALT Tool Connect™ app first by pressing the button ( 1 ) on the front of the tag
until it begins to blink. Then go to the Home screen of the app and select "+ Tool." The tag can only be connected to one Tool
Connect™ account at a time.
Step 4: Once the connection is established, you will be prompted to give the product an individual name as well as confirm
that you would like to register the product on your DeWALT.com account.

Installing the DeWALT Tag




WARNING: Do not apply tag to product where it will become wet or exposed to flammable liquids or gases.
WARNING: Do not secure in such a way as to impede the safe use of the product to which the tag is attached.
WARNING: Before using screws or rivets to install, ensure the space behind the placement is clear.
WARNING: Do not pierce tag with screw, nail, drill bit, etc.
The DeWALT tag is designed to track tools and equipment using the Tool Connect™ app. It will not prevent theft from
happening. The tag can be installed in a variety of orientations. Consider installing the tag to prevent tampering.
The tag can be installed using the following attachment options:
• #6 Pan head self-tapping screw through one or both of the mounting holes ( 2 ).
• Glue or epoxy to back of tag. Be sure glue or epoxy is compatible with mounting surface.
• 5/32 diameter rivet through one or both of the mounting holes ( 2 ).
• Adhesive backing.
• Cable or zip tie through one or both of the mounting holes ( 2 ).

MAINTENANCE
Cleaning

WARNING: Never use solvents or other harsh chemicals for cleaning the tag. These chemicals may weaken the plastic
materials used in these parts. Use a cloth dampened only with water and mild soap. Never let any liquid get inside the tag;
never immerse into a liquid.
Storage Recommendations
Repairs
The best storage place is one that is cool and dry, away from direct sunlight and excess heat or cold.
The tag is not serviceable, though its button cell battery can be replaced at a DeWALT authorized service center.
WARNING: To assure product SAFETY and RELIABILITY, repairs, maintenance and adjustment (including brush inspection
and replacement, when applicable) should be performed by a DeWALT factory service center or a DeWALT authorized
service center. Always use identical replacement parts.

When traveling on airlines, be sure to comply with the airline restrictions on usage of personal electronic devices and
Bluetooth®.
• The out of range alert feature has been designed to act as an aid to warn against products getting misplaced or stolen. It is not
a security system.
• The connectivity range is up to 100 feet (30.5 meters) depending on environment and location.
• The shortwave radio frequency signals of a Bluetooth® device may impair the operation of other electronic and medical devices
(such as pacemakers or hearing aids).
• This device is CAN ICES-3(B)/NMB-3(B) compliant.
• This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC rules and Industry Canada License-exempt RSS standard(s). Operation is subject to
