The Operation Frequency for the RKE function is 315 MHz and will be used as a portable device. The RF transmitter is mechanically integrated into the Key Fob Housing. This transmitter is used to transmit information for locking or unlocking the vehicle by a unidirectional RF transmission line for normal remote operation by pressing a button. RF transmitter also provides passive entry functions for the vehicle. In general the following functions are provided: Lock the car Unlock the car Unlock the trunk of the car Panic Alarm Remote Start Cabin Pre-conditioner * Open Plug-in door* * Option only available with Chevy Volt vehicle which represents an electric platform. For Chevy Volt, remote start and open the trunk is replaced with open plug-in door and cabin pre-conditioner. The required functions work within a range of around 100m of the vehicle. 1.) To unlock doors Press and release the UNLOCK Button on the RF Transmitter once to unlock. 2.) Trunk Press and release the TRUNK Button on the RF Transmitter once to open the Trunk. 4.) Panic Alarm Press and release the PANIC Button on the RF Transmitter once to turn the Panic Alarm ON and OFF. 5.) Remote Start This button allows the user to remotely start the engine of the vehicle. 6.) This function will allow the user heat/cool the vehicle before entry. 7.) Opens the plug-in door Press and release to access the plug-in door, located on the outside of the vehicle. Notes: If any of the buttons are pressed and not released within 60 second duration the RF transmitter will stop transmitting and shut down to prevent the battery drainage. Power Supply: The RF transmitter is battery powered with 1 Lithium battery CR 2032, supplying +3V power, which is installed into the PCB battery holder facing + side down. The display in the instrument cluster of the vehicle will inform the user when the battery of the RF transmitter is getting low (weak). The battery indicator light in the instrument cluster flashes when the battery voltage level is decreasing to a lower than 2.3 V, the battery should be replaces. The minimum operating voltage is approximately 2.1 V. If the voltage drops below 2.1 V the RF transmitter will not operate and battery needs to be replaced. Remove the old battery carefully from the battery compartment. Replace the new battery +-side facing up. Avoid touching the new batteries with fingers, skin oils may cause battery deterioration. This hand-held radio transmitter is primarily used for vehicle remote locking/ unlocking (Key less entry) applications. It also provides passive entry functions in which the remote key buttons are not used at all. It must be kept away from the reach of children. In the event of RF Failure the key blade can be used to open the vehicle door or trunk. Page 8 of 8
