If you encounter problems when installing this product, contact your service provider.Choose a Suitable LocationFor best reception, the EWS-150g shouldbe located as close as possible to awindow or an outside wall.A convenient power outlet is requiredwithin 6 feet of the unit, and the LANsource (your computer) must be reachablewith the supplied Ethernet cable (unlessyou purchase a longer cable).4Power On the UnitOn the front panel of the unit, there aretwo LED indicators:•SIGFor 802.11g wireless communication.•PWRIndicating that power is on.7PowerSignalPlug & PlayThe installation of your EWS-150g EdgeWireless System is complete. You mayverify correct operation using a computerconnected to the Ethernet LAN byopening your browser and connecting toa Web site.The EWS-150g comes with some basicfunctions that allow you to monitor theunit’s performance and make physicaladjustments to the antennas to maximizethe available wireless signal. If yourservice provider allows guest access tothe unit’s Web interface, log in then go toStep 9 to utilize these functions.Connect the Ethernet CableIf the unit will be connected to anEthernet LAN, then connect one end ofthe Ethernet cable to the Ethernet socketon the rear of the unit, then connect theother end to the LAN port on yourcomputer or router.5Ethernet cableConnect the Power SupplyPlug the power supply connector into thepower receptacle on the rear of the unit,then connect the power supply to thepower outlet.6Power connectorAfter applying power to the unit, thePower LED will flash for approximately 20seconds. Following that, the Power LEDshould remain lit without flashing, andthe Signal LED should flash intermittently.8
If you encounter problems when installing this product, contact your service provider.MonitoringThe EWS-150g is equipped with a variety of monitoring features and a troubleshooting aid, all of whichare available from the Monitor tab in the unit’s Web interface. In addition, there are several quick links onthe home page that will direct you to the key monitoring functions. The home page also includes anAntenna Aimer, which allows you to monitor signal strength while manually directing the unit’s antenna(this function is only available from the home page). Monitoring functions include:• Event Log•L2NAT• Troubleshooting• Wireless Neighbors• Statistics• Wireless HistoryBecause the EWS-150g monitors are intuitive and to avoid redundancy, this document does not provideexamples of all available monitors. It does, however, provide an example of the Troubleshooting windowand the Antenna Aimer.Where monitors are in tabular form the table can be sorted by column by simply clicking in the columnheader. For example, in Wireless Neighbors you may want to display the results sorted by RSSI value. Inthis case, click in the RSSI (dBm) column header. To reverse the displayed order (descending instead ofascending), click in the column header again.9

Toinitiate the troubleshooting tool, click on the Monitor tab then click on Troubleshooting to display theTroubleshooting window.Click on the Start Troubleshooting button to begin the process.Antenna AimerAvailable from the Home page, this tool is provided to assist you when attempting to find the optimumplacement for the EWS-150g. The process is dynamic and interactive, which means that when youreposition the unit or its antennas you are presented with a response indicating the received signalstrength.1011
