 Suunto  User guide   3(18) 2  GETTING STARTED Starting your Suunto Kailash for the first time is quick and simple. Time, date and location are automatically set if you have good satellite reception.  To start the watch: 1. Wake up the watch by keeping the 7R button pressed until the display turns on. 2. Select language and confirm. 3. Set units format and confirm. 4. Set time foramat and confirm  5. Wait for statelite reception to update time, date and location.  After start up, charge your watch until the battery indicator shows 100%. 2.1 Adjust settings All watch settings can be adjusted under the options menu. To adjust a setting: 1. Keep the middle button pressed to enter the options menu. 2. Scroll up and down through menus with the 7R button and lower button. 3. Enter a setting by pressing the middle button. 4. Adjust the setting value with the 7R button and lower button. 5. Confirm the new setting value by pressing the middle button. 6. Exit by keeping the middle button pressed.  2.2 Displays and views Suunto Kailash has thre main displays: time, navigation, and the 7R logbook. Change between time and navigation by pressing the middle button.
 Suunto  User guide   4(18) The time display has several different views in the bottom row which you can scroll through with the lower button. Enter the 7R logbook by pressing the 7R button.  Suunto  User guide   6(18) 3  FEATURES 3.1 7R lobgook Press the 7R button to see your latest adventure stats. This summary statistics include: • Cities visited • Countries visited • Total time in current city • Travel days for the year • Total distance travelled • Flights for the year • Furthest distance from home • Average daily steps • Average speed over last 30 days  7R notifications In addition to the summary statistics, your Suunto Kailash notifies you of significant events such as arriving at a new city for thfirst time or reaching a new highest altitude (flying excluded). 3.2 Alarm clock You can set one daily alarm. When an alarm time is defined, the alarm appears on the timeline.  To set the alarm: 1. Keep the middle button pressed to enter the options menu. 2. Press the middle button to enter Time & Date. 3. Press the middle button to enter the alarm setting. 4. Turn the alarm on and confirm. 5. Set the hour and minutes and confirm. 6. Exit by keeping the middle button pressed.
 Suunto  User guide   7(18)  3.3 Battery When the battery level reaches 20%, you get a popup notying you of the low level.  When the battery level gets very low, you can a recharge notification.  At this point, a blinking battery icon is shown in the bottom row of the time view. Navigation and connectivity features are automatically turned off until the watch is recharged. Recharge the watch by attaching the supplied cable to the watch and plugging the USB end into a computer or wall charger. <picture here>  3.4 Backlight The Suunto Kailash has two lights: and normal backlight and an extra bright backlight which can be used as a flashlight. To activate the backlight, keep the 7R button pressed until the backlight turns on. To activate the flashlight, continue to keep the button pressed a few seconds until the brighter backlight comes on. You can also activate the backlight by firmly tapping twice in the center of the display.
 Suunto  User guide   8(18) The backlight has three different modes which can be changed in the options mnu under GENERAL >> Backlight >> Backlight mode. • Buttons: Any button press activates backlight for 8 seconds • Normal (default): Long 7R button press activates backlight for 8 seconds • Toggle: Long 7R button press activates backlight and stays on until 7R button is pressed again The backlight brightness level can also be adjusted in the options menu under GENERAL >> Backlight >> Brightness 3.5 Countdown timer The countdown timer can be activated from the options menu. To activate the countdown timer: 1. Keep the middle button pressed to enter the options menu. 2. Press the middle button to enter Time & Date. 3. Scroll to Countdown and press the middle button. 4. Set hours and minutes and confirm. 5. Exit by keeping the middle button pressed.  Start and stop the timer by pressing the 7R button. While the timer is running, you can skip to the next minute (zero the seconds) by pressing the lower button.
 Suunto  User guide   9(18)   When the timer is expired, you can return to the main time display by pressing the 7R button.  3.6 Time You can use Suunto Kailash to keep track of three different times: local time, home time, and world time. Local time is time at your current location. Home time is the time at your primary residence which you can define with home location setting.  Suunto  User guide  10(18) 3.6.6 Sunrise/sunset 3.6.7 Date 3.6.8 GPS time 3.6.9 DST  3.7 Mobile app Pair your Suunto Kailash with your smartphone to get notifications on your watch, customize watch settings, as well as upload and share your adventures. 3.7.1 Pairing If you have not paired your watch with the app, you are asked to pair the first time you enter the Connectivity menu. To pair the watch and app: 1. Download and install Suunto 7R App on your compatible Apple device from the iTunes App Store. The app description includes the latest compatibility information. 2. Start the app and turn on Bluetooth if it is not on already. Leave the app running in the foreground on your mobile device. 3. On your watch, keep the middle button pressed to enter the options menu. 4. Scroll to CONNECTIVITY with the lower button and select with the middle button. 5. Select “Yes” to the “Pair MobileApp” question. 6. Enter the passkey shown on your watch display into the paring request field on your mobile device and tap PAIR. 3.7.2  Bluetooth Bluetooth is on by default in Suunto Kailash. It is used to send and receive information with your mobile device when you have paired your watch with the Suunto 7R app. However, if you are not using the app, or otherwise do not want to have Bluetooth on all the time, you can turn it off under the CONNECTIVITY menu. To turn Bluetooth on/off: 1. Keep the middle button pressed to enter the options menu. 2. Scroll to CONNECTIVITY with the lower button and select with the middle button.

Suunto does not warrant that the operation of the Product or accessory will be uninterrupted or error free, or that the Product or accessory will work with any hardware or software provided by a third party. This Limited Warranty is not enforceable if the Product or accessory: 1. has been opened beyond intended use; 2. has been repaired using unauthorized spare parts; modified or repaired by unauthorized Service Center; 3. serial number has been removed, altered or made illegible in any way, as determined at the sole discretion of Suunto; or 4. has been exposed to chemicals including but not limited to sunscreen and mosquito repellents.
