HANDLING INFORMATION
Make it Last
Your tablet is a complex electronic device; think of it
as a mini-computer. Here are a few tips to help you
extend the life of your new tablet.
Do not get your tablet wet. Even a small amount of
moisture can damage your tablet and accessories.
Protect your tablet’s screen. Your tablet’s screen is
delicate. To keep it looking and working great, clean
the touchscreen and turn off the display when you are
not using the device.
Use the original manufacturer’s batteries
and accessories. Non-approved batteries and
accessories can harm and damage your device.
Do not use damaged accessories. If any of your
accessories are damaged, replace them and do not
attempt to use them. Doing so may damage your
device or may result in a fire hazard.
PRIVACY INFORMATION

regulations of your jurisdiction or other jurisdiction(s)
where you will use your mobile device regarding
taking photographs and recording sounds with your
mobile device. Pursuant to such laws and regulations,
it may be strictly forbidden to take photographs and/
or to record the voices of other people or any of their
personal attributes, and reproduce or distribute them,
as this may be considered to be an invasion of privacy.
It is the user’s sole responsibility to ensure that prior
authorization be obtained, if necessary, in order to
record private or confidential conversations or take
a photograph of another person; the manufacturer,
the seller or vendor of your mobile device (including

Radio Waves
THIS MOBILE DEVICE MEETS THE GOVERNMENT’S
REQUIREMENTS FOR EXPOSURE TO RADIO
WAVES.
Your mobile device is a radio transmitter and receiver.
It is designed and manufactured not to exceed
the emission limits for exposure to radio-frequency
(RF) energy. These limits are part of comprehensive
guidelines and establish permitted levels of RF
energy for the general population. The guidelines
are based on standards that were developed by
independent scientific organizations through
periodic and thorough evaluation of scientific
studies. These guidelines include a substantial safety
margin designed to ensure the safety of all persons,
regardless of age and health.
The exposure standard for mobile devices employs
a unit of measurement known as the Specific
Absorption Rate, or SAR. The SAR limit set by public
authorities such as the Federal Communications
Commission of the US Government (FCC), or by
Industry Canada, is 1.6 W/kg averaged over 1 gram
of body tissue. Tests for SAR are conducted using
30
standard operating positions with the mobile device
transmitting at its highest certified power level in all
tested frequency bands.
The FCC has granted an Equipment Authorization
for this model device with all reported SAR levels
evaluated as in compliance with the FCC RF
exposure guidelines. SAR information on this model
device is on file with the FCC and can be found under
the Display Grant section of HYPERLINK “http://www.
fcc.gov/oet/ea/fccid” www.fcc.gov/oet/ea/fccid after
searching on FCC ID:2ACCJBT01.
Although the SAR is determined at the highest
certified power level, the actual SAR level of the
mobile device while operating can be well below the
maximum value. This is because the mobile device
is designed to operate at multiple power levels
so as to use only the power required to reach the
network. In general, the closer you are to a wireless
base station antenna, the lower the power output
of the mobile device. Before a mobile device model
is available for sale to the public, compliance with
national regulations and standards must be shown.
The highest SAR value for this model mobile device
when tested is1.47 W/Kg for use close to the body.
31
While there may be differences between the SAR
levels of various mobile devices and at various
positions, they all meet the government requirement
for RF exposure. For body-worn operation, the device
has been tested when positioned a minimum of 0 mm
from the body without any metal parts in the vicinity of
the device or when properly used with an appropriate
accessory and worn on the body. Use of other
accessories may not ensure compliance with FCC RF
exposure guidelines. Additional information on SAR
can be found on the Cellular Telecommunications
& Internet Association (CTIA) Web site: http://www.
phonefacts.net
The World Health Organization (WHO) considers
that present scientific information does not indicate
the need for any special precautions for use of
mobile devices. If individuals are concerned, they
might choose to limit their own or their children’s
RF exposure by limiting the length of calls, or
using “hands-free” devices to keep mobile devices
away from the head and body. (fact sheet n°193).
Additional WHO information about electromagnetic
fields and public health are available on the following
website: http://www.who.int/peh-emf.
32

and receiver.
• Connect the equipment into an outlet on a
circuit different from that to which the receiver is
connected.
• Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV
technician for help.
• Changes or modifications not expressly approved
by the party responsible for compliance could
void the user’s authority to operate the equipment.

If you have a pacemaker, check with your doctor to
make sure it’s safe for you to use a tablet. In some
cases, cellular radio frequencies can disrupt the
performance of other electronic equipment. If you
have questions about the interaction between your
tablet and any other piece of electronic equipment,
ask the equipment manufacturer.
