3. OPERATION
3.1 ICONS on LCD
1) Roger On/Off indicator : Appears while Roger tone is in use.
2) Battery indicator : Indicates the battery status
3) Receive signal indicator : Appears when receiving signal or squelch noise is
existing.
4) Channel readout : Shows the current channel number.
5) SCAN indicator : Indicates that scan is enabled
6) VOX (Voice Activated Transmit) Indicator : Turning on the
power while pressing PTT button activates VOX function.
7) Receive indicator : when receiving an incoming signal.
8) Transmit indicator : when the PTT button is pressed.
3.2 Key Function
1) PTT/ CALL key : Pressing and holding this button will allow you to speak to
any transceiver that is set to the same channel setting as
yours. The PTT Button can also be used as a two-way call
ringer. Pressing the botton twice quickly will call another
party on the same channel.
2) Up key : In the standby mode, Pressing this button will increment the litening
volume. When in function edit mode this button will be used to adj
ust the unit’s setting.
3) Down key : In the stand by mode, Pressing this botton will decrement the
listening volume. When in function edit mode this button will be
used to adjust the unit’s settings.
4) Power/Scan key : This button is used to power on/off and scan on/off. To turn
the unit on, press and hold the power on/off button for at lest
2 seconds. You will hear a confirming melody to indicate
the unit is on. To turn the unit off, press and hold the button
for at lest 2 seconds. To turn the SCAN on, press and hold
the power on/off button for at least 1 second. You will hear
a confirming tone to indicate the SCAN on. To turn the
SCAN off, press and hold the button for at lest 1 second.
5) Mode (Function) key : This button is used to select the GMRS feature settings
such as Channel selection, Roger beep on/off and VOX
on/off. To set the channel and roger beep, press
the VOX /F button within 1 second, To enable the
VOX on/off, Press the VOX /F button for 2 seconds.
3.3 Function display
Transmit Indicator: Icon appears when the PTT button is pressed.
Receive Indicator: Icon appears when receiving an incoming signal.
Low Battery Indicator: Icon indicates the low battery.
Roger Beep Tone On/Off Indicator: Icon appears when the roger beep tone is
selected. Icon disappears when tone is off.
Segment Display: Indicates the channel number in use.
Scan Indicator: This function allows users to scan a channel to search for a valid
signal.
Voice Activated Transmission (VOX) Indicator: This function allows handsfree
conversation. The Icon appears when the VOX mode is activated.
3.4 SETTING AND OPERATION
In order to communicate with other GMRS/FRS units, both you and the
receiving party must be on the same channel.
GMRS-120 has 22channels indicated by the large digits on the
LCD display panel. Before trying to transmit on the selected channel.
1) On/Off & Volume control Switch
Radio ON : Press the power button at least for 2 seconds.You will hear
confirming melody to indicated the unit is on.
Radio OFF : Press the power button at least for 2 seconds.
Volume setting : Press up[
] or down[
] button to adjust a level that is
most comfortable for you while monitor is active.
2) Setting the Channel
GMRS-120 has 22 main channels.
* 22 Frequency channels
To select the channel
* Turn the radio on.
* Press MODE button once, [XX] digit will blink on the LCD. XX is a channel.
* Press up[
] or down[ ]button to choose the channel.
* Press the PTT button or MODE button to confirm.
3) VO X (Voice Operated Switching)
This option enables you to have hands-free conversation. You do not have to
operate the PTT button each time when you want to transmit.
You can also choose the VOX sensitivity so suit your environment of operation.
( Ex : noisy road, motor bike, factory etc. )
To Set the VOX mode
* Long Press the MODE button until the [Uo oF Or oN] appears.
* VO X icon will be appeared on the LCD.
4) Roger tone
This feature will give the tone signal to other parties when transmitting finished
(when PTT button is released.)
To activate or disable the Roger tone
* Press the Mode button until [rb on or oF] and the roger icon blink on the
LCD.
* Press the up[
]button or down [
]button.
* Press the PTT button or MODE button to confirm.

Transmitting
* Press and hold the PTT button, the
indicator ON.
* Speak slowly and clearly
* To Stop the transmission, release the PTT button.
* if there are no more receiving signal for 5 seconds, the unit will go into
power save mode.

Receiving
The Coding feature reduce the possibility of interference and provide enhanced
Communication. You can only listen to a call that has correct matching code.
*Upon
receiving a signal, the BUSY indicator ON.

Before transmitting or receiving to the other parties

Channel Scanning
This feature allows you to monitor all activated channels while scanning.
To activate the Scan
* Short Press the Power key button
* Radio will begin scanning.
* When in scan mode, the display will show each scanning channel.
* After an activated channel is scaned and received signal and then if there is
no more signal, the scan will resume automatically

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
Your wireless hand-held portable transceiver contains a radio frequency
transmitter. When the PTT button is pushed, the transmitter sends out RF
signals. The device is authorized to operate at a transmit duty factor not
exceeding 50% using alkaline “AAA” size batteries to comply with Federal
Communications Commissions (FCC) RF exposure safety level guidelines for
hand-held wireless devices.
This device has been tested for SAR (SPECIFIC ABSORBTION RATE) and has
been found to meet the requirements for body-worn transceiver. If you wear
the radio, always use the manufacturer -supplied belt clip. Use of nonmanufacturer-approved accessories may exceed the FCC RF exposure
guidelines. To maintain compliance with the FCC’S RF exposure guidelines,
hold the transceiver at least 1 inch (2.5 centimeters) from your face and speak
in a normal voice, with the antenna pointed up and away. Unauthorized
antennas, m odifications, or attachments could damage the transceiver and may
violate FCC regulations.
GMRS License :
Use of GRMS radios within the United States requires a FCC GMRS license.
An individual of 18 years of age or older, who is not a representative of a foreign
government is eligible to apply for a GMRS system license. You will need two
forms from the FCC - FCC FORM 159 and FCC Form 605 Main Form and
Schedule F.
