Installation Instructions
WARNING DO NOT install the radio unit where it will interfere with
theproper operation of automatic collision protection devices(air bags).
1. Power Switch
The radio is turned on and off by pushing this control
WARNING DO NOT install the radio unit where it is likely to cause
injury in case of an accident.
2. Volume Control
The audio level from the speaker increases as this control
is rotated clockwise.
Note: this radio is NOT intended for operation in a positive ground
vehicle.
A. Select a location for the radio where you will be able to easily see
and reach all the controls and the microphone.
B. Using the radio mounting bracket as a template, mark the locations
were the bracket mounting screws will be placed.
Note: Before drilling hole in the vehicle, verify that there is nothing
that could be damaged or get in the way by drilling and putting screws
in this locations. Where possible use existing grommets to route
cables through the firewall, thus avoiding excessive drilling and
possible damage.
C. After drilling the holes for the mounting bracket, attach the bracket
to the mounting surface using the provided screws.
D. Attach the radio to the mounting bracket using the black thumb
screws. If it is necessary, connect the power cord and antenna before
mounting the radio.
E. Push the modular microphone connector into the microphone jack
until you hear a click.

3. Squelch Control
This controls the receiver silencing circuitry. To correctly
utilize this control, first select an unused channel, then rotate
the control counter clockwise until noise is heard in the speaker
and the green "BUSY" LED is lit. Now rotate the control clockwise
until the noise is squelched and the "BUSY" LED goes out on the
display. This is the most sensitive setting for this control.
Rotating this control further clockwise decreases the sensitivity
of the receiver. This can be handy in noisy conditions.

FCC Exposure Compliance Requirements for Occupational Use Only
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC), with its action in general
Docket 9362, November 7, 1997, has adopted a safety standard for
human exposure to Radio Frequency (RF) electromagnetic e energy
emitted by FCC regulated equipment. TAD Radio of Canada subscribes
to the same safety standard for the use of its products. Proper operation
of this radio will result in user exposure far below the Occupational
Safety and Health Act (OHSA) and Federal Communications
Commission limits.
Antennas used for this transmitter must not exceed an antenna gain
of 3 Bd. The radio must be used in vehicle-mount configurations with
a maximum operation duty factor not exceeding 50%, in typical push-to-talk
configurations. This radio is NOT approved for use by the general population
in an uncontrolled environment. This radio is restricted to occupational
use, work related operations only where radio operator must have the
knowledge to control the exposure conditions of its passengers and
bystanders by maintaining the minimum separation distance of 1.37
meters (4.5 feet) between any persons on the antenna. Failure to
abserve these restrictions will result in exceeding the FCC RF exposure
limits.
CAUTION DO NOT transmit for mote than 50% of total radio use
time (50% duty cycle). Transmitting more than 50% of the time can
cause FCC RF exposure compliance requirements to be exceeded. The
radio is transmitting when the "red" LED on the front of the radio is
illuminated. You can cause the radio to transmit by pressing the P-T-T
button on the radio's microphone.
CAUTION DO NOT operate the transmitter of the M11 when someone (bystanders) outside the vehicle is within 1.37 meters (4.5 feet) of
the antenna.
NOTE: This radio operates in FCC regulated frequency bands. All radios
must be licensed by the FCC before use. Because this radio contains
a transmitter, Federal law prohibits unauthorized use or adjustments
of this radio.

INTRODUCTION
The M11 is capable of 100 channels. Your dealer has the option
of designating different frequencies in each channel of the radio
for you. The M11 covers 138-174 MHz without having to be
retuned. It has a numeric display for the channel numbers. The
new configuration makes installing the M11 quicker. For information
on the M11 functions, please read this brochure in full.
You must purchase an antenna for proper operation of the radio. Consult
your radio communications dealer to determine which antenna is suitable,
and where is the best location for installing the antenna.
This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject
to the condition that this device does not cause harmful interference.
