OWN E R ’S M A N U A L T hank you for your purchas e of TA IY O product. Important! Please read your Owner's M anual all the way through before operating your vehicle. Contains important information---keep for future reference. S a f e t y F ir s t - A dult s upervis ion is recom m ended, when the vehicle is operated. - To avoid danger, never drive the vehicle on s treets or in crowded place. W hen playing outdoors , choos e the place to play s afely. - W hen a thunder is heard while playing outdoors , im m ediately s top us ing the vehicle. Otherwis e lightning s trike m ay be induced. - Avoid rough handling s uch as letting the vehicle hit s om ething or waving the vehicle in the air. - W hen running the vehicle indoors , take due care not to break glas s or dam age furniture. - K eep away your fingers , hair and loos e clothing from the running tires while the product is s witched "ON ". - Avoid leaving the vehicle in a place with high tem perature s uch as the vicinity of a s tove. - Do not point the trans m itter antenna to s om ebody's head or anim als . Other wis e unexpected accident m ay res ult. - In order to race or operate two vehicles together, the vehicles s hould not be operated on the s am e frequency at the s am e tim e. - T he trans m itter allows eas ier trans m is s ion of radio wave when it is held at higher pos ition. If vehicle goes out of range, try lifting trans m itter high into air to increas e range. - R adio interference can be caus ed by the operation of your vehicle near HIG H V OLTA G E E LE CT R ICA L W IR E S , LA R G E S T E E L R E IN FOR CE D CON CR E T E B U ILDIN G S and PA S S IN G T R U CK S W IT H CB R A DIOS . B A T T E R Y C H A R G IN G /C A R E M is us e of the batteries can pos e s uch ris k as heat generation, explos ion and leakage. Only batteries of the s am e or equivalent type as recom m ended are to be us ed. B atteries are to be ins erted with the correct polarity. T he s upply term inals are not to be s hort-circuited. E xhaus ted batteries are to be rem oved from the vehicle. N ever im m ers e the battery in water or put into open flam e. A ls o never attem pt to dis as s em ble or s older the battery. - W hen the battery gets wet with water, s top us ing it im m ediately. - T he vehicle will not operate without the 6.0V rechargeable N iCd battery pack and 6.0V charger. - T his econom ical rechargeable system is the only battery pack and charger made to power the vehicle. - T he battery charger provided is to be regularly exam ined for dam age to enclos ure and other parts . In the event of dam age, the vehicle m us t not be us ed with the battery charger until the dam age has been repaired. - R echargeable batteries are only to be recharged under adult s upervis ion. - R echargeable batteries are to be rem oved from the vehicle before being charged. - N on-rechargeable batteries are not to be recharged. - Inferior quality battery packs will s horten running tim e and m ay void the warranty. - R echargeable up to 1000 tim es ! - T he vehicle is not to be connected to m ore than the recom m ended num ber of s upplies . RED L IG HT RELEA S E BUTTON Plug wall pack charger into s tandard 230 volt outlet. Click the battery pack into the charger. M ake certain the battery pack is s ecure in charger. To dis connect, pus h the red button on the s ide of charger and s im ultaneous ly s lide battery pack out. A fter charging for 4 hours , the battery will feel warm . T his condition is norm al for fully charged batteries . - N ew battery packs m us t be charged for 5 1/2 hours the firs t two tim es charged. S ubs equent charges will only require 4 hours . - U nlike alkaline batteries , where the power los s is gradual, a N iCd (nickel-cadm ium ) battery will s uddenly los e m uch of its power. W hen this happens it is tim e to recharge the battery pack. - A fter us e, the battery pack will be hot! W ait at leas t 20 m inutes until the battery pack cools before recharging. R echarging a warm or hot battery pack will greatly reduce the num ber of tim es your battery pack can be recharged. T HIS PR ODU CT U S E S A N ICK E L CA DM IU M B AT T E R Y. N i-Cd A323 " S m ar t Circuitry" Your precision vehicle is equipped with advanced circuitry designed to protect electronic components under extreme operating conditions. If vehicle stops running during use, sim ply allow the joysticks to return to their neutral positions for 15 to 20 seconds, then resume normal operation. 1 . B a t t e r y In s t a lla t io n • Trans m itter S lide open the battery door on back of Trans m itter, pull it toward the direction s hown in the figure while pres s ing lightly on its center. Ins ert fres h/new 9V (6LR 61) battery with the polarity ( / ) as s hown ins ide battery com partm ent. - V ehicle 1. Always use the fully charged 6.0V Ni-Cd battery pack. 2. A s preparation, turn the battery com partm ent latch in the bottom of the chas s is to the lateral pos ition. 3. Confirm that the m ain s witch is OFF. T hen s et the battery pack in the bottom of the chas s is while orienting it as s hown in the figure. Turn the battery latch 90 degrees to fix the battery pack. 4. A ttach the rider figure's feet as s hown. 2. A ttach the rider figure's hands as s hown. 3. You m ay want to s lide the firs t hand onto the hand grip, and s nap on the s econd hand. 4. Pus h the left s tick forward to drive s traight ahead. 3. " S creeching" S top W hile driving forward, quickly jam the left s tick back. Your vehicle will brake to a quick s top with one of its s ide s tabilizers on the ground. 4. G lide-S top W hile driving forward, releas e the s ticks . Your vehicle will glide to a s top with one of its s ide s tabilizers on the ground. 2. Launch-S tart Hold your vehicle s teady on the ground (keeping your fingers clear of the wheel hubs ). G ently guide your vehicle forward while pus hing the left s tick forward. A323 6 . R /C F a c t s 1. W hen your vehicle s tarts to los e power, it m ay los e functions or perform ance. It's tim e for fres h batteries (or a recharge). Y our vehicles 's running tim e m ay change depending on your driving s tyle. 2. R adio interference can m ake your vehicle run badly. Interference can be caus ed by other R /C vehicles running on the s am e frequency; electrical wires ; large buildings ; or CB radios . T ry to s tay away from thes e! 3. Point your trans m itter antenna up-not down toward your vehicle. If your vehicle gets too far away, it won't work properly. 4. Don't drive your vehicle in s and or through water or s now. If your vehicle does get wet, wipe with a towel and allow to dry com pletely overnight. 5. Don't s tore your vehicle near heat or in direct s unlight. A lways turn s witches OFF and rem ove all batteries for s torage. 7 . N ote The manufacturer is not responsible for any radio or TV interference caused by unauthorized modifications to this equipment. Such modifications could void the user's authority to operate the equipment. 8 . T r o u ble s h o o t in g P r o ble m - V ehicle runs s lowly or will not run. P r o ba ble C a u s e C o r r e c t io n - Loos e battery connection or vehicle s witch not ON . - W eak or uncharged rechargeable battery. - W eak trans m itter battery. - Check battery connector and vehicle s witch. - Charge battery or replace. - R eplace with fres h 9V (6LR 61) battery. - E rratic operation or only s hort range pos s ible. - R adio interference likely. - S hort battery life. - B attery not fully charged. - Change location (s ee point 2-R /C Facts ). - Hold trans m itter above wais t level, with antenna not touching other object. - R echarge N iCd battery pack. For m axim um running tim e, m ake s ure you give your battery pack a full charge. - V ehicle does n't work after going through water or s now. - W ater in the electronics area. - V ehicle will take s everal hours to dry. A llow to dry com pletely overnight before trying again. - Operate your vehicle in a dry area. A void driving in water and s now.
