TASCAM’s DB-25
Pinout Standard
TASCAM developed the standard for multi-pin
DB-25 cables over 10 years ago, and most
of the pro audio industry has followed this
standard. This is the pinout found on TASCAM
mixers, recorders and their accessories, such
as the X-48, DM-3200 and DM-4800.
Analog DB-25 Connectors
AES/EBU DB-25 Connectors
Be sure to check that the cables you’re using
are rated for analog audio use. Many cables
look the same on the outside.
You may notice that the AES/EBU pinout
scheme follows the analog one closely. The
original AES/EBU pinout was indeed based
on the analog pinout, but using the fi rst four
balanced lines for AES/EBU in, and the last
four balanced lines for AES/EBU out.
While analog breakout cables will often work
for AES/EBU connection, note that AES/EBU
DB25 to DB25 connections require a different
pinout in the cable. Analog cables wire pin
1 to pin 1. AES/EBU must fl ip the connec-
tions so that pins 12, 24 and 25 will wind
up on the other end of the cable at pins 6,
18 and 19 respectively. (Digital out must
feed digital in.)
