Hardware Setup
Step 1: Unlock the scanner
The scanner is locked with a knob at the top ofthe scanner to prevent the CCD module from
damages arising out ofthe improper delivery. To unlock the scanner, please turn the knob from
the position indicated “LOCK” to the position indicated “UNLOCK" before working with the
scanner.

The following illustrated description provides you with the tutorial on how to connect scanners
ofdifferent models including SCSI, EPP, and USB to your computer, Please take time to check
the description which is applicable to your scanner.

Step 2: Connecting the SCSI scanner to your computer
To connect the scanner to your computer, please install the SCSI card before setting up the
scanner. The scanner can be directly connected to your computer if it is eqLIipped with the
standard SCSI card (such as the Adaptee 2940), and you do not need the bundled interface card.
Ifyou would like to install the attached SCSI card such as DTC l6D32, please follow the
procedures below.

- When more then one devices are chained together (refer tO case 2 ), be sure to place the
SCSI scanner as the last device for connection. and lI|C standard SCSI card is required
because the scanner is equipped with Only one connector and the internal terminator.
- Thc bundled SCSI card which supports the scanner is for PC only.
- The scanner is equipped with the 25-25 cable. Ifyour computer Is equipped with a 50-pin
SCSI connector , please purchase a 25-50 pin cable
- In general. you do not need to set the SCSI ID. however, if another device is also set to
SCSI ID number 4, then you need to change the ID to resolve the conflict. The scanner has
8 SCSI ID switch located at the rear of the scanner. Each device on the SCSI chain must
have a unique SCSI ID number to enable tlte computer to identify and access each device.
Internal SCSI hard driver are usually set to SCSI ID number 0 and the computer (or SCSI
Interface Card) uses SCSI ID number 7. The scanner is preset to SCSI ID number 4.

Slep 2: Connecting the EPP scanner to your computer
To connect the EPP scanner to your [BM compatible PC, you can direclly connect the scanner
to the parallel port ofthe PC without lhe additional interface card. The connection is especially
suitable for the laptop users.
Case I: Directly connecting the Scanner tn the parallel port of the PC
Cast 2: When connecting the scanner and the printer together to work with the PC, the
scanner will act as the add—in device. Please follow the instructions belnw.
A. PC-Seanner connection : connect one end of the cable to the para/131 port of
the PC and the other end to the port of the scanner

Step 2: Connecting Ihc USB scanner to your computer
To cunnect the USB scanner to your IBM compatible PC, you can direclly connect the scanner
to the USB port of PC, or the USB device supporting the hub function. When connecting the
scanner to the PC, the system will ask you to install the driver first Please follow the
instructions on the screen to install the driver.

Beschédigungen. Zur Entriegelung des Scanners drchen Sie den Knopfmit Hilfe eines

Der EPP Scanner kann anjeden IBM kompatiblen PC angeschlossen warden, ohne eine
