G850P Handset Manual        / 24  6 General Operation Keys Function The number and alphabet keys(0 - 9, ∗, #): The keys(0-9,*,#)use for dialing a phone,input password、name and SMS etc. z  Press and hold “ 0” 2 seconds to input “+”(for international dial); z  Press and hold “ 1” 2 seconds to call voice_mail_box; The communication control keys(Send, End/Power): Send     z  Answers incoming calls. z  Sends strings entered in idle/dedicated mode to the network z  Shows the list of the most recently dialled numbers;  z  Sends the ongoing calls to hold come back switch and multiparty functions. Short key presses: • End all active calls • Quit an edit screen • From any menu/sub-menu returns to the idle screen. • Rejects an incoming call. Long key presses: • Switches the phone on or off from the idle screen Up/Down/Left/Right(Navigation keys) and Soft keys     、 、 、 Up/Down • Press the Up key  enter theRecent Call list from the idle screens. • Press the Down key  enter the Contact list from the idle screens. • Moves the cursor up and down through menu items or lists. • In numeric or alphanumeric editor screens, moves the cursor left/right through the digits or text. • In SMS text editor when reading a message the cursor scrolls up/down line by line. Left/Right • Press the Left key   enter the Calendar  from the idle screens. • Raises or lowers the volume when in volume control screens. • In numeric or alphanumeric editor screens, moves the cursor left/right through the digits or text. • Used in the SMS editor when reading a message the cursor scrolls left . • Volume control during a call The hands-free key: It can let your hands free when you talk with your talker. Icons:The icons on the top row are only visible in the idle and active call screens. In menu, list or editing screens the icons on the top row are not displayed and the top line is used for an additional line of text.Some of the icons can have variants  MENU     :The Main Menu soft key. P-BOOK:   The  Phone Book soft key. SMS        :  The Messages soft key.       Cal          :    The  Calculator soft key Power on/off   To turn the phone ON, press   ,  To turn the phone off, press and hold   .  Unlock the phone After powering on, the phone may need to be unlocked before calls can be made or received. The user must enter the correct code and press the right softkey first then the * key. Once unlocked, the phone continues on to idle mode described above in 3.1.1. Decode If PIN1 must be entered the Enter PIN1 screen is displayed. The user will be given three attempts to enter PIN1 correctly, which is a security code between four and eight digits in length. On successful entry of PIN1 the ME will search for a network on which to provide full service.If the user fails to enter PIN1 correctly on all three attempts the user is requested to enter PUK1.

G850P Handset Manual        / 24  12Messages SMS messages are personal short text messages, of up to 160 characters long that the user can send to, or receive from, another GSM phone user. The messages are not sent directly to the other GSM phone but go via a Service center, which keeps the message while the destination phone is unreachable (within the validity period of the message). When an incoming message has arrived, the phone beeps and the message icon is displayed. The message is directly stored into the SIM if this one is not full. The user has, then, the choice to keep or delete it. When the SIM is full, the old messages are moved to  Phone. When  Phone is full too,   it blinks to alert the user he has to delete some messages in the SIM card or  Phone . If he wants to receive the new one.The sender can be informed when the destination phone receives the message if the phone has been configured to do it (SMS receipt function). Presss oft key> Messages  or Press   soft key Inbox A list menu is opened listing all received messages on the SIM, in chronological order. If no messages are available, “List Empty” is displayed for two seconds and the phone returns to the messages sub-menu.Pressing the left soft-key, “Select”  opens a window containing the date, sender and message body.  The left soft-key “Option” opens a further sub-menu containing the following options: • Delete: displays the information screen “Message Deleted” for two seconds, and deletes the message from the SIM.  • Reply:  reply a message to sender. • Edit: edit the message  • Forward: sent the message to others • Move: move the message record to SIM card or phone memory • Call : call number of the sender • Extract Number: The sender’s number and name displays and can be added to the phonebook. The left soft-key can get back to the tree menu. Outbox A list menu is opened listing all send messages on the SIM, in chronological order.  If no messages are available, “List Empty” is displayed for two seconds and the phone returns to the messages sub-menu.Pressing the left soft-key, “Select”  displays  listing all  the entries , Pressing “Select” opens a window again containing the date, receiver and message body.  The left soft-key “Option” opens a further sub-menu containing the following options: • Delete: displays the information screen “Message Deleted” for two seconds, and deletes the message from the SIM.  • Edit: edit the message • Forward: sent the message to others  • Move: move the message record to SIM card or phone memory The left soft-key can get back to the tree menu. Write SMS If this option is selected, but no message centre has been defined, the information screen “Set-up Message Centre Number” is displayed and the phone returns to the sub-menu. If a message centre is defined, an alphanumeric editor is opened. The user can enter up to 160 characters (or 1600 if concatenation is enabled) of text in the editor’s buffer. If the user attempts to enter more characters, the cursor is stop at this time.
G850P Handset Manual        / 24  13If no characters are entered in the screen the right soft-key “Back”  returns to the previous screen. As soon as one or more characters are entered the soft key becomes “Delete”  , and is used to delete the character directly before the cursor.  Up/Down moves the cursor through the entered characters.  After finish inputting, the left soft-key “Option”  opens a further sub-menu containing the following options: • Send: To send the message, select Send   • Save: The message is saved in the SIM; otherwise save in phone memory, if space is available. If no space is available, the information screen “SIM full”is displayed and the phone returns to the sub-menu. • Clear: Clear the current content in write SMS • Discard: The phone returns to the messages sub-menu. The left soft-key can get back to the tree menu. Memory Status The screen display the current memory status when access it, including informations as below: SIM: x/y (there save x messages in SIM card, the capability of SIM is y) Phone: x/200 (there save x messages in phone, the capability of phone is 200) Delete all A confirmation screen “Delete all?” is displayed. The right soft-key “Back”  returns the phone to the messages sub-menu. The left soft-key “Ok”  displays the information screen “Deleted” and deletes all messages from the SIM card and phone. The phone then returns to the messages sub-menu. Setting Selecting “Settings” opens a sub-menu with the following options: • Service Centre: A numeric editor is opened. If a SMS service centre number is already stored on the SIM, this is copied to the editing buffer.The soft-key left “OK”  copies the number entered to the SIM card and then returns to the previous sub-menu.The soft-key right is “Delete”,   which returns the phone to the sub-menu. • Validity: The user can choose a period during which the message is still relevant .There is five choices can be selected: 1 Hour/12 Hours/24 Hours/1 Week/Maximum. • Status Report: This menu item allows the user to activate or not a message receipt to be informed when the message has been delivered. pages are supported.
G850P Handset Manual        / 24  14Voice Mail Selecting Voice Mail will immediately start to call the voice mail number stored on the SIM card (or phone memory - the SIM card having priority). If both phone and SIM voice mail fields are empty a numeric editor is opened and the user is prompted to enter the voice mail number. the VoiceMail can also be directly accessed by a long press of the “1”key from the idle screen.  Note: The voice mail number can be edited via the messages menu. Phone Book If a SIM is inserted into the phone that contains non GSM-string format names these entries will not be displayed.  The Contacts can be invoked from the full service idle screen using the soft key  or via the Main Menu by selecting the Contacts icon. Selecting “Contacts” displays the following menu: Search In standby mode, select Menu > Contacts > Search. Key in the first characters of the name you are looking for and select Search , Scroll  / to find the name you want. To perform a quick search, scroll  / in the standby mode and enter the first letter of the name. Scroll to the name that you want. The Contacts entries are displayed in alphabetical order. If the Contacts is empty then an information screen “Empty List” is displayed. Pressing Send immediately calls the highlighted number.  The left soft-key “Details”  opens a Contacts submenu containing the following items:  • Send Message:  If the user selects the ‘Send message’ option then the text editor is opened and initialised with soft key ‘Option’ and right soft key ‘Back’.    After  inputs a character,  the display turns to soft key ‘Send’ and right soft-key ‘Delete’. • Edit:  edit the number. • Call: Selecting the ‘Call Number’ option activates a mobile originated call to the selected number • Speed Dial:To assign a number to a speed-dialing key. • Copy:  Selecting the ‘Copy’ option opens a Contacts sub-menu containing the following items: • This Entry • Copy all   SIM • Copy all  Phone Selecting either option copies the entry/entries from the internal Contacts to the SIM Contacts. A pop up menu appears when the entry/entries have been stored . • Move:  Selecting the ‘Move’ option opens a Contacts sub-menu containing the following items: • This Entry • Move all SIM • Move all  Phone Selecting either option moves the entry/entries from the internal Contacts to the SIM Contacts. A pop up menu appears when the entry/entries have been moved. • Delete:  Selecting “delete” opens a conformation screen with the text “ Delete ”. The label of the left soft key is “yes” and the right soft key displays ‘No’. The confirmation screens times out after 10 seconds. The ‘yes’ key press return the phone to the previous sub-menu. Pressing the ‘yes’ key deletes the
G850P Handset Manual        / 24  15entry and displays an information screen confirming the action and the phone returns to the phonebook list.  The left soft-key can get back to the tree menu . Add Entry Selecting the ‘Add’ option opens a Contacts sub-menu containing the following items: • SIM :    add  to SIM memory • Mobile:  add  to mobile memory Adding a new phone book Entry   To create a phonebook entry: 1. Press Menu > Phone Book in idle screen. 2. Scroll to [Add Entry] and press OK. 3. Input a number and press OK. 4. Input a name and press OK. 5. Select SIM or Phone depending on where you want to store the phone entry. 6. Press OK to complete the entry addition. A message Saved shows.  Speed Dials Assign a phone number to one of the speed-dialing keys, from 2 to 9, select Menu > Contacts > Speed dials, and scroll to the speed dialing number that you want. If a number has already been assigned to the key, select Select > Edit. then the number you want to assign. Memory Status This menu reports the Contacts location usage in an information screen. The figures indicate the number of used entries out of the total available on the SIM card and Phone. My Number Selecting the “My Number” option allows the list of own-numbers stored on the SIM to be viewed and edited. This opens a sub-menu with the following options. • Consult • Add New Entry Selecting “Consult” displays the first entry in the list of own numbers from the SIM card. This list is handled and presented exactly as that of the phonebook. If there is more than one entry the up and down arrows scroll through the list. If the list is empty the information screen “List Empty” is displayed for two seconds. Adding a new entry is exactly the same as adding an entry into the phonebook, except no location number is reported after the entry has been completed. If the SIM card does not support a list of own numbers, then one entry is provided and stored in the phone. Delete all  Selecting this option opens a Contacts sub-menu containing the following items: • SIM :     clear all contacts in the SIM memory • Mobile:  clear all contacts in the mobile memory
G850P Handset Manual        / 24  16Recent Calls The call register list contains information about the missed calls、 answered calls and outgoing calls and call timers.Each list contains a maximum of ten entries and when a list is full, and a new entry is added (by making/receiving a call) the oldest entry in the list is deleted. The list is displayed in chronological order with the last number dialled/received at the top. In the case where a calling party number was withheld or unavailable this information is not stored. The time and date of the call are stored with the calling party number. Each of the three lists is accessed via the “call register” menu. In addition the redial (Outgoing calls) list can also be accessed directly from the idle screen by pressing the Send key. Selecting an entry from the calls list and pressing the Send key starts a MO call, this approach allows a fast redial of the last number dialled by pressing the send key twice from the idle screen.  • If the ‘Unknown’ list entry is selected pressing the Send key displays the “Unavailable” information screen. • If the user tries to access the list and its empty a screen with “Empty List” is displayed for two seconds. • If a number in the list matches an entry in the Contacts the alpha-tag associated with the number is displayed – • If the number does not match, the number itself is displayed. Missed Calls The list contains a maximum of ten entries  of missed calls. When entering the lists the top item is highlighted.   Up/Down keys move through the list to highlight other entries. The right soft key takes the user back to the idle screen or menu. Select Details > Operate, open. Sub-menu with the following menu options: • Store number  Copies the number to the Contacts using the same procedure as storing a name in the Contacts, except that the information is copied first from the redial list to the number editing screens. You can chiose the number being saved in the SIM or phone . • Send message Copies the selected number into the SMS number editor and presents the user with the SMS text editor screen. The SMS message can be compiled and passed onto the message service centre. • Details Handset displays the time/date of the call. Using the following information/format left justified: Name (if number matched in phonebook) Time: hh:mm Date: dd/mm/yy If the number is too large for one line, the least significant digits preceded by “...” is displayed. If the time or date fields are not available or invalid, “unknown” is displayed instead of the date and/or time. • Delete Removes the entry from the list. The user then returns to the calls list with the subsequent entry highlighted. if available, or previous entry if not. If there are no more entries, the “Empty List” message is displayed. • Delete all Handset prompt “Entry deleted” after deleted all entries, the user then returns to the recent list menu screen. If access missed call agagin, the screen will prompt “List Empty”. Incoming Calls The list contains a maximum of ten entries  of received calls. Operations of the menu are same as “ Missed Calls” . Outgoing Calls The list contains a maximum of ten entries of outgoing calls.

Incoming Timer                                                                               To view the total timer of incoming calls. Outgoing Timer To view the total timer of outgoing calls. Reset all Timer Clear all the timers to zero.    Sound Settings Call Ringer A list of available ringer tones is displayed and the first melody played at the currently selected volume. The  up/down key moves through the list – as the user moves to a new melody, that melody is played. Alarm Ringer After select one of these seven clock sort , select Activate and set the alarm time. When selecting the week clock, set the time and choose the day.  Then select Alarm ring. Customize the alarm ring by selecting from MIDI sound. SMS Ringer The sms ring selection is the same as for call ring . Volume Select the Receiver、Ringer and Keypad Volume. Receiver Volume: To adjust the Receiver Volume in communication. Ringer Volume: To adjust the Ringer Volume when incoming calls. Keypad Volume: To adjust the Keypad tone Volume when pressing any key. Alert Tone Call Connection: To set the Call Connection ring on or off. 1 Minute Timer: To set the 1 Minute Timer ring on or off.
G850P Handset Manual        / 24  18Out of Service: To set the Out of Service ring on or off. Battery low Alert: To set the Battery low Alert ring on or off. Organizer Time & Date This option allows the time and date to be set. A screen is opened with a prompt to enter the date.  Pressing the left soft-key, “Ok”,  which appears once a valid date is entered will program the clock – the time entry screen is then entered. Pressing the right soft-key, ”Back”,  will return the phone to the clock sub-menu.The time entry screen contains a prompt to enter the time. The soft-keys operate in the same manner as for date entry. The “:” and “/” are automatically inserted in times/date respective. Note: when entering the date or the time, the mobile will only offer the “Set” soft-key option once it recognises a valid entry. eg. it is impossible to enter 25:96 as a time. If an invalid time is entered a “Not Allowed” screen is displayed. Alarm Clock A sub-menu is opened with the following options: • Single Clock(Include Single clock 1, clock 2, clock 3 ,clock 4 and clock 5) • Week Clock (Include week clock 1 and clock 2) After select one of these seven clock sort , select Activate and set the alarm time. When selecting the week clock, set the time and choose the day.  Then select Alarm ring. Customize the alarm ring by selecting from MIDI sound. Calculator The calculator feature offers the user a simple calculator supporting basic mathematical operations Addition, Subtraction, Division and Multiplication.      Calendar To view the calendar, the current day is indicated by a frame. Time Zone To select the time zone.   Network  Services Network   Select     On power-up, the phone starts a automatic network search. If a network is found, the phone will enter an emergency call only mode until the mobile has performed a location update.  Selection of “Network Sel” menu opens a sub-menu: •  Automatic
G850P Handset Manual        / 24  19The phone will attempt to camp-on to the home network, a network listed in the preferred list of the SIM, or any other available network in that order. During this period the phone displays the message “Search For Networks”.  On location-update failure to the last available/attempted network, one of the following messages will be displayed, according to the reason for location-update failure: • Card is not valid – IMSI rejected by network  • Phone rejected – IMEI rejected by network  The phone will then display “No network” in place of the operator name in the idle screen.  • Manual If manual selection is chosen the phone will only attempt to register on the network that the user had previously selected (in last session). If this fails the mobile will display “[network name] Not Available” in the idle screen.  Selection of manual network selection displays the information screen “Search for Networks” whilst the phone builds a list of available networks.  The list is then displayed and the user can select one of the available networks. When a network is selected “Search for Networks” is displayed while the mobile attempts to register on the network. If the registration procedure fails, the failure response is displayed in the same way as for automatic network selection. The list of available networks is then re-displayed and the user may re-select.  Call  forward This option allows the user to transfer calls to another number upon particular conditions.  Selection of the “Call Divert” menu opens a sub-menu containing the following list of the divert types: • All Calls • If unreachable • If Busy • If No Answer  Selecting one of the five divert options (All Calls、If unreachable、If Busy、If No Replay、Fax、Data)opens a further sub-menu containing the following interrogation/setting options: • Status An information screen “Requesting” is displayed whilst the phone interrogates the status of the selected divert on the network. If no response is received, “Failed” is displayed for two seconds and the phone returns to the Divert sub-menu. If the number does not fit on the last line, the up/down keys scroll through the information; If all unavailable diverts were checked the up down keys scroll through the divert types.  The left soft-key is “OK” and returns the phone to the previous sub-menu.  • Activate A numeric editor with the prompt “Enter number:” is opened. The left soft-key “OK” sends the request to the network. The right soft-key “Contacts” opens the Contacts and allows an entry to be selected.  An information screen “Requesting” is displayed until the network accepts or rejects the request.  • Deactivate An information screen “Deactivated” is displayed whilst the phone sends the cancel request for the selected service to the network. When the phone receives the response the appropriate public MMI information screen is displayed and the phone returns to the divert menu.  Selecting “Cancel All” cancels all sort of divert . Operations of  the menu are same as “Call Divert” above.
G850P Handset Manual        / 24  20 Call barring Call barring is a network feature which, when activated, can disable some outgoing/Reveived calls to/from phone. This feature requires a network code supplied by the service provider when the user subscribes to this service.  On selection of call barring, the phone requests the user enter the Call barring network password. The password is validated by the network and not by the mobile.  The following barring options are listed in a barring sub-menu: • Outgoing Calls • Incoming Calls • Change Password.  Selecting one of the seven barring options,opens a further sub-menu options: • Status • Activate • Dractivate  If “Status” is selected an information screen “Requesting” is displayed whilst the phone interrogates the status of the bar on the network. If no response is received, “Failed Subs Violation” is displayed for two seconds and the phone returns to the Barring sub-menu.  If “Activate” is selected an information screen “Requesting” is displayed until the network accepts or rejects the request. The phone returns to the bar menu.  If “Dractivate” is selected an information screen “Please wait” is displayed whilst the phone sends the cancel request to the network. When the phone receives the response the appropriate public MMI information screen is displayed and the phone returns to the bar menu. Call Waiting If call waiting was actived , a new incoming call will be notified without ending the call at that moments.  A sub-menu with the following options is displayed: • Status • Activate • Deactivate  Selecting “Check Status” displays an information screen “Requesting” followed by an information screen showing the status of voice activation.   If “Activate” is selected a requesting information screen is displayed followed by a confirmation information screen.  If “Deactivate” is selected a confirmation information screen is displayed and call waitting is inactive. Select Line If your SIM card and service provider support the Alter Line Service, you can select the service line. Whether you select Line 1 or Line 2, the calls can income from Line 1 or Line 2. Line1: If the Line 1 is selected, the outgoing calls go through Line 1. Line2: If the Line 2 is selected, the outgoing calls go through Line 2.

Auto keypad Lock You can lock the keypad to prevent the keys from being accidentally pressed.  We can choose time of the auto matic lock keyboard, There are six choices can be selected : None/5 Seconds/10 Seconds /30 Seconds /1minute/5minute . Phone Lock    The phone will request the security code whenever a new SIM card is inserted into the phone. • Status        • Activate        • Deactivate        • Change The Phone password was edited if select “change” , and the old Phone password will replace with new Phone password PIN  Lock The PIN must be input after power on handset if the function was activated, contains four options:        • Status        • Activate        • Deactivate        • Change The PIN code was edited if select “change” , and the old PIN code will replace with new PIN code. Fixed Names The default of fixed names is no. And also contains three options:        • Yes        • No        • FDN Numbers The function of FDN numbers is set the fixed number, and other items is activated or deactivated the function. Version Info You can see the phones software edition. Default Reset Selecting factory reset opens a confirmation screen “Press OK to confirm ” with ‘OK’ and ‘Back’ soft-key options. If the user presses the right soft-key ‘Back’ or ‘End’ key the user returns to the previous screen with no change to the settings. If the user confirms by pressing the left-soft key, all of the user configurable parameters in the mobile are reset to their default values. If the SIM does not provide a menu name, “SIM Toolkit” will be used as default.  SAT Class 3 is supported.   The detailed fuctions of the sub-menu depends on SIM card (or the telecom service provider).   Predictive Text Input The standard predictive input engine is used for English text input.  It is available in many text input fields, such as: SMS, phonebook name entry, SIM Toolkit applications.  When English language selected, there are 3 input modes: <EN>, <123>, <@&$>. Pressing # key can change the text input modes: • <EN> mode  When you press on the keys that the English characters are printed, the handset screen displays a completed word.  You can continue completing the word by entering more characters, or you can press ‘#’ to change capital or lowercase. The left softkey validates the word shown in the window. Pressing “*” can enter the symbol list. • <123> mode The numeric characters 0-9 can be input by pressing the number-keys. Pressing “*” can enter the symbol list. • <@&$> mode The symbol in common use will be displayed. Pressing Up/Down key select previous/next pages.  Pressing Left/Right key select the the symbols.

MPE limit for RF exposure at prediction frequency is 0.558mW/cm2 for GSM850MHz and1mW/cm2 for GSM1900MHz. The MPE for GSM850MHz is 0.078 mW/cm2 and 0.031mW/cm2 for GSM1900MHz.
