Section 1: lnslallalion Signal Strength Indicator Press the [SIGNAL] function key, The display shows the strength of the signal. from B {BAD} to G (GOOD), The number In brackets represents the signa/ strenglh numerically, from a minimum of i (BAD), to 7 (GOOD), Posnion your GET-10 so that you recelve signal strength cl 4 to 7. You may have to rotate the antenna, or unplug and move the phone to a different location, If after performing the above actions. the signal strength |s still insufficient, contact the Service Center. ._n GET-10 Dlgital Radio-Telephone ‘, Activating Your GET-10 for the First Time To activate your GET-10 for the first tlme. just follow these srmple steps. Contact the Customer Service Center. For rnstructluns on how to dial. see “Placrng a volce call" on section 2, below. A Customer Service Center representative W|ll request some information, and assrgn you your new Telephone Number. Write your Telephone Number down on the tag of the GET-10 baseY underneath the Handset. To do this you need two»wire interconnectlon cable with RJ‘11 plugs. Connecting a Fax or Modern Unit A single fax or modem unit can be connected to your GET-10 by using a two-wire interconnection cable only with RJ-11 plugs. N‘ ., Muting the Microphone You can mute the mlcrophone on the handset so that the f caller Will not hear your discussions with people |n your vicinity. To mute the microphone, press the [MUTE] button. Press again when you want your caller to hear you, Placing a Fax or Modern Call To dial a tax or modem data call with your GET-10, you must precede the telephone number W|th three asterisks (~--) in order to identify it as a data call. When dialing a tax or modem call, the display shows “DIAL/N6“. When the data call is connected, the display shows “DATA CONNECT". . Answering a Fax or Modern Call It the call is Clel’lg into yourlax or modem machine, you do not need to do anything on the GET-10. I! you dld not do so then. you can order these servrces by calling the Customer Service Center. Message Center When the [MSG] lamp is lit, this means you have vorce messages in the Message Center. lt is recommended to program the [MSG] key as the speed dial key for the Message Center. Answering a waiting call It a call comes while you are already speaking on your GET-10, you heara beep, You may put your caller on hold without disconnecting the call, and answer the Incomrng walling call. You may then return to your first caller, To answer an incoming waiting call 1v Press the [FLASH] key to put your first call on hold 2. Speak to the new caller 3. Press the [FLASH] key again to return to the first caller. 12 Section 2: Operation Forwarding calls You can have your incoming calls ring at another telephone. When your telephone lS set to call forwarding, you will be able to make calls from it Incoming calls wtll ring at the telephone whose number you entered as the call forward number. Lift the handset. Making a Three Party Conference Call You may conduct a conference call, With three different people, including yourseltt on the line, To place a three-party call 1, Place a regular two-party voice call as explained in the tirsl page of this section 2. Press [FLASH] again: All three people will be on the fine, 13 CET<10 Digiial Radio-Telephone Programming Your GET-10 You can program your GET-10 Dlgnal Fledio Telephone in order to: ' Save numbers in the Speed Dial memories; ' Activate Call Blocking; ' Sei the default ringer, audio and data srgna! levels: Set the display language Your CET-mcornes preprogrammed on English These programmrng procedures are described in the following sectrons, Note that ii you wrsh lo anon programmlng before acknowledging or to exii quickly, you may do so by lilting the handset or by pressing the [SPKR] key, Programming the Speed Dial Memories The CET—10Telepncne has l2 Speed Dial keys You may program numbers into me Speed Dial keys. You may also program the [MSG] key and Dial Fad keys 0 to 9. You may program up to 32 digits, including pound signs [ii], in each Speed Dial memory. 14 Section 2: Operation To program the Speed Dial Memories Press the [FROG] function a key f The display shows: "7 SPD 2 BLOCK“ G 2. Press [1]. 3. Press the Speed Dial key or Dial Pad key you want to pro- gram. If a number was previous/y stored in the memory, it appears in the display. 4. Enter the telephone number (up to 32 digits or pound signs 4 it »). if you have made a mistake or Wish to abort programming, lift the handset or press [SPKR]. 5. Press [FROG] to store the number. 6. Press [FROG] again to exit programming mode. or repeat steps 2 to 5 to program another number Note It a number is too long to be displayed in its en- tirety, you can scroll the display using the volume up, volume down [VA] key, Programming Call Blocking Call blocking allows you to restrict people lrom making international or long distance calls on your telephone. Call blocking is achieved by limiting the number of digits that may be entered in yourlelephone to place a call. You may program your GET-10 Telephone in order to: 0 Activate or deactivate call blocking; “_ 0 Set call number length; 15 GET-10 Digital Radio-Telephone 0 Change your call blocking password. These call blocking programming procedures are explained in the next three sections. Activating and Deactivating Call Blocking To activate call blocking ' 1 Press the [FROG] function key. The display shows: “1 SPD 2 BLOCK“ 2 Press [2]. The display shows: "ENTER PASSWORD". 5. Enter the password (your CET—1Dis preprogrammed with the password 12345; you may modify it as described in “Changing your Cali Blocking Password", below). 4. Press [FROG]. The display shows: "1 DN\OFF 2 MAX D/ALING 3 USER PSW“ 5. Press [1]. The display shows: “BLOCK/NS 1 ON ZOFF". 5. Press [1] to activate call blocking. 7. Press [FROG] three times to accept and exit. To deactivate call blocking, follow steps 1 through 5 described above. but press [2] in step 6. 16 Section 2: Operation Changing the Blocked Number Size You can set and change the maximum number of digits that are permmed. lf you Wlsh to prevent long distance calls lrom your GET-1D, Just lollow the steps below To change the blocked number size Press the [FROG] luncticn key, The display shows: “1 SPD ZBLOCK”, Press {2}. The display shows "ENTER PASS WORD”. 3. Enter your 5-digit password. 4. Press [FROG]. The display shows: "BLOCK: 1 ONlOFF2 MAX DIAL/NS 3 USEFI PSW“ 5. Press [2]. The drsplay shows Z the default dial length 6. Enter a new value, from O to 32 (0 means “all calls blocked“). 7. Enter the default password, or a prevrous password you pro- grammed. 4. Press [FROG]. The display shows: "BLOCK: 1 ON/OFF 2 MAX DIAL/N6 3 USER PSW“ 5. Press [3] 6. Enter a new five-dlglt password. 7. Press [PHOG] three times to accept and em. Press [PROG] three times to accept and exlt programming mode. 20 Section 2: Operation Checking the Battery Status The backup battery, when ttu charged< tests apprcxrmatety eight hours. When the telephone ts worktng m battery mode, the letter "B“ appears on the fight hand side at the second fine of the display When the battery charge ts low the "B" starts flashing. It is recommended that you check the backup battery status periodicafly‘ To check the backup battery status 1. Press the [FEAT] key: The display indicates the function choices. 2, Press {2} for battery. The asterisk’s posit/on shows the re/at/ve amount of charge remaining m the battery from “B" {HAD} to “G" (GOOD). Maintenance Cleaning Your Telephone Troubleshooting The telephone does not work after installation ' Make sure that the power outlet is altve and that the power supply has not been interrupted. O Check that the AC cord tram the Power Pack is connected to the wall outlet. 0 Check that the DC plug lrorn the Power Pack ts connected to the telephone. The telephone display shows “SELF TESTFAIL” “SELF TESTFA/L" indicates that your GET-10 is faulty. 0 Contact your Service Center. The telephone display shows “NO SERVICE" “NO SERVICE” indicates elther that there ls an antenna problem or that there is “No Line".
