1. FRS PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Family Radio Service ( FRS ) is the newest generation in personal two - way
communications. FRS radios operate in a license - free band, on one of 2 license -free
channels.
The FR-230 is a lightweight, palmsized two - way radio that you can carry almost
anywhere - use it at shopping malls, sporting events, amusement parks, or any other
activity where communications are needed for convenience or safety.
The radio provides about a 2miles range of communications - allowing you to keep in
touch with family, friends or a neighborhood watch group.
The FR-230 is 14 channels model. You can talk to another person using any FRS
radio, provided that you can on the same frequency with button.

2. CONTROLS AND FUNCTIONS
> Push-To Talk button - Permits radio transmissions
> Monitor button – Monitoring in the channel
> Power button - Used to turn the radio on/off
> Volume up/down button – Used to adjust the listening volume
> Call button – Used to send a call signal in emergency condition
> Mode button – for double purpose of volume up/down button to select other channel
> Red L.E.D – Lights in transmission
> Green L.E.D – Lights in low-battery
> Segment L.E.D – displays channel number.
> Antenna
> Belt Clip - Used to secure the radio to a belt, or another convenient location.
> Battery Compartment - Houses 4 AAA size batteries which provide power to the unit.(Located
on back of unit)

3. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
> Install 4 new AAA size batteries,
The (-) flat bottom of the battery rests on the (-) terminal of the battery compartment, and the (+) top
contacts the (+) terminal. Refer to drawing below for proper battery installation.
Note: Always release batteries if product will not be used for long periods of time.
> Replace the battery compartment door.
> Push the power button.
The radio will sound a melody tone.
> To transmit,
Hold the radio 2-3 inches from your mouth, Press the Push-To-Talk button on the radio side, and
speak clearly into the microphone area of the radio. For best quality, Speak slowly and to a normal
tone of voice. There is no need to speak loudly.
> When your transmission is complete,
Release the PTT button and listen for a reply.
> To send a call,
Press call button to page someone in special situation, then turn red L.E.D on and has audible ring signal
transmitted.
> Low battery indication
If battery cell voltage drop to fixed voltage(approximately 4V), green L.E.D is blinking..

> Channel selection
Press MODE button until channel no. is blinking in digit display, and then select wanting channel with
volume up / down key button. This radio has 14 channel.
> When not using the radio,
Conserve battery power by turning the unit off. Push the Power button.
