www.telular.comTelular SX7PFor your safety03For Your safetyThe SX7P functions as both a radio transmitter and receiver. When it is ON, the SX7P receives and sends out radio frequency (RF) energy. The SX7P GSM 900/1800 unit operates in the frequency ranges of 890 MHz to 960 MHz and 1710 MHz to 1880 MHz. The SX7P 850/1900 unit operates in the frequency range of 824MHz to 894MHz and 1850 MHz to 1990 MHz. Both units employ commonly used phase/frequency modulation techniques. When you use the SX7P, the cellular system handling your call controls the power level at which the unit transmits. Safe Operation RequirementThe SX7P must be either wall mounted or desk mounted and should not be operated when any person is within 200 mm (8 inches) of the phone.Temperature EnvironmentOperating Temperature: From -10°C to +50°C ; Up to 95% relative humidity (non-condensing).Storage Temperature: From -40°C to +60°C; Up to 95% relative humidity (non-condensing)..Driving

Some jurisdic-tions prohibit your using a cellular device while driving a vehicle. Even if your juris-diction does not have such a law, we strongly suggest that, for safety reasons, the driver use extreme caution when operating the cellular device while the vehicle is in motion. Always obey the law.Electronic DevicesMost modern electronic equipment is shielded from RF energy. However, RF energy from cellular devices may affect inadequately shielded electronic equipment.RF energy may affect improperly installed or inadequately shielded electronic operating and entertainment systems in motor vehicles. Check with the manufacturer or its representative to determine if these systems are adequately shielded from external RF energy. You should also check with the manufacturer of any equip-ment that has been added to your vehicle. Consult the manufacturer of any personal medical devices (such as pacemakers, hearing aids,etc.) to determine if they are adequately shielded from external RF energy.Turn your SX7P OFF in health care facilities when any regulations posted in the areas instruct you to do so. Hospitals or health care facilities may be using equipment that could be sensitive to external RF energy.Aircraft• Turn OFF your SX7P before boarding any aircraft.• Use it on the ground only with crew permission.• Do not use it in the air.To prevent possible interference with aircraft systems, U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations require you to have permission from a crew member to use your cellular phone (or any other cellular prod-uct) while the plane is on the ground. To prevent interference with cellular networks, FCC regulations prohibit using your cellular device while the plane is in the air.

Therefore, to avoid interfering with blasting operations, turn your SX7P OFF when in a “blasting area” or in areas posted: “Turn off two-way radio.”Turn your SX7P OFF when in any area with a potentially explosive atmosphere. It is rare, but your SX7P or its accessories could generate sparks. Sparks in such areas could cause an explosion or fi re resulting in bodily injury or even death. Areas with a potentially explosive atmosphere are often, but not always, clearly marked. They include fueling areas such as gas stations; below deck on boats; fuel or chemical transfer or storage facilities; areas where the air contains chemicals or particles, such as grain, dust, or metal powders; and any other area where you would normally be advised to turn off your vehicle engine.Do not transport or store fl ammable gas, liquid or explosives in the area of your SX7P or accessories.Vehicles using liquefi ed petroleum gas (such as propane or butane) must comply with the National Fire Pro-tection Standard (FPA-58). The service provider supplies the SIM card, which carries the account information needed to operate the SX7P. The SIM compartment is on the back of the SX7P.NOTE: If you don’t have a SIM card, contact your network service pro-vider.(1). Make sure the unit is off and the power supply disconnected before removing or installing a SIM Card.(2). Remove the Battery/SIM compartment cover by pushing the latch.(3). www.telular.comTelular SX7P 113. Charging the BatteryThe SX7P phone is equipped with a rechargeable sealed Ni-MH battery. New batteries are shipped partially charged and should be cycled for best performance. “Cycling” is fully discharging and then fully charging the battery to obtain full capacity.1.To fully discharge the battery, turn the phone on without connecting AC power and use until “Low Battery” is indicated in the display.2.Connect AC power, Refer to Page 15, section 6. Connect the SX7P to AC Power for instructions on connecting power.3.Charge battery for at least 24 hours before using SX7P on battery power the fi rst time. The battery icon will fl ash while battery is charging. 4.The power supply can stay connected to the phone after charging has completed. The phone will recharge the battery when necessary.The display will show “Full Charge” and the battery icon will stop fl ashing when charging has completed. Note: If you experience frequent power outages, a recharge cycle can be interrupted leaving the battery in a state of partial charge. It is recom-mended to follow steps above to restore the optimum performance of the battery if this should occur.Getting started

Plug the AC power cube into the wall socket.(3). Press and hold the ON/OFF button for 3 to 5 seconds.(4). Check the cellular signal strength and move the unit until the best sig-nal possible is achieved. After a few seconds, the greeting and mobile carrier will display.If service is available, the antenna icon will display indicator bars. The number and height of the indicator bars increases as the signal grows stronger (the more bars, the better the signal).• No ServiceWhen no service is available, the antenna icon will not display any bars. Contact your service provider to verify cellular service is activated. No calls can be made in this condition.• Limited ServiceIf there is a signal, but full service with the system is blocked, only emergency calls will be allowed. Contact your service provider for more information.• Network RegistrationIf the home network is unavailable, but there is another network available (either another frequency or system), the SX7P will attempt to register to that system. If there is more than onesystem, a list of available systems will display.1. Use the arrow keys to highlight a network from the list.2. Press the Select. www.telular.comTelular SX7P1. Making Calls • Pick up the handset or press the Speaker button. The SX7P is now “off-hook.” • Listen for dial tone. • Dial the phone number. The dialed number will be displayed. The name will also be displayed if it is stored in the phonebook. Correct Dialing Errors • To erase one digit, press Delete (right soft key) once. • To erase all digits, press and hold down Delete (right soft key) until all digits are erased, or press the On/Off button momentarily. • To insert numbers, use the left and right arrow (Navigation) buttons. Redial the Last Telephone Number Dialed • Pick up the handset or press the Speaker button. The SX7P is now “off-hook.” • Press the Redial key. Placing International Calls This feature enables you to place an international call from most coun-tries without entering the local international access code. • Pick up the handset or press the Speaker button. • Listen for dial tone. • Press and hold the “ “ for two seconds and the “ + “ will appear in the display. Note: The network translates the “ + “ into the appropriate international access code needed to place the call. • Enter the country code, city code, or area code (as needed), and phone number.2. www.telular.comTelular SX7PWhen there is an incoming call, the SX7P rings, an incoming call notifi ca-tion displays the call type and Caller ID information (if available).• Pick up the handset or press the Speaker button.• Begin talking.Note: Press the Reject to refuse the call. The phone will stop ringing and the calling party will be disconnected or placed into voice mail if activated by your service provider. Receive a Call When Caller ID is Activated The Caller ID feature displays the caller’s number when the SX7P rings. If the caller’s name and number are stored together in the SX7P phone-book, the caller’s name and number will be displayed. Contact your ser-vice provider to activate this feature. Note: If there are missed calls (calls not answered), “Missed Calls” will be displayed with the number of calls missed. See the Call Logs section of this manual for more information.3. Ending CallsHang up the phone by either placing the handset back onto the SX7P cradle or press the Speaker button if using the speakerphone.Note: If the called/caller end disconnects the SX7P will generate a ROH tone after approximately 60 seconds. Place the handset back in the cradle or if using speaker phone press the speaker button to hang up.4. In-Call Functions Mute a Call • While in a call, press Mute (right soft key) or Mute button. Phone displays “Muted” on the screen in the place of the caller ID information. • Press the Mute button again or Unmute (right soft key) to un-mute the Call functions23

Place a Call on Hold • While in a call, press Flash button, or press Option (left soft key) and select Hold. • The display will change from A(activated) to H(Held). • To reactivate the call, press Flash button again. or press Option (left soft key) and select Unhold. Adjust Volume While in a call, press the left or right navigation buttons to lower or raise the handset/speakerphone volume.5. Conference CallingConference Calling allows connection to several calls simultaneously. Contact your service provider to activate Conference Calling. Engage a Conference Call • While in a call, put the call on hold. • Dial a second number, then press the Flash button, or Call (left soft key) to connect the call. • When the second call is answered, press the Flash button or Menu and then select Conference. This will connect all parties. • Select the desired option. Add to conference: Join the active call with the held Conference call. Hold: Place Conference call on hold. Private Call: Hold a private call with one party in a Conference call. Other parties are put on hold. End All: End all active and held calls. End Conference: It ends the last call added to exclude it from the 24
www.telular.comTelular SX7Pconference. Swap: Change the selected party being placed on hold in the call, the caller on hold will be displayed. Phone book: Using this option, user can perform the phone book operations including: access to the list of contacts, addnew entries, copy or delete, etc. While in a Conference Call: I. To place parties of a conference call on hold, press the Flash button or Options, select Hold (the callers on hold will be displayed.) • To join all parties, press Flash button or Options, select Unhold (the active calls will be displayed) II. To hold a private call with one party of a conference call Press Options, select Private Call (the caller on hold will be displayed) • To change the party selected for the private call, press Options, select Swap (the selected party will be displayed), or press the Flash button. • To join all parties, press Options, select Add to Conference (the ac-tive calls will be displayed)Note: Options available depend on the status of the call or calls. For example, if only one other person is in the call, only the End All option will display, or if all the calls have been joined, the Add to Conference option will not display.6. Using the HeadsetI. Making a call:Connect the 2.5mm headset plug into the headset jack located on the right side of the phone. (See illustration on page 16.) Lift the handset from the phone and dial the number to make the all. The headset is 25

To switch back to the handset, unplug the headset from the headset jack.Note: When making a call using the Speaker button, connect the Head-set after the Speaker button has been pressed and call initiated. If the Headset is already connected, the Headset audio will not be active when a call is originated in Speaker mode.II. Receiving a call:If the Headset is already plugged in, when a call comes in, the ring tonewill be heard in both the speaker and the headset. To connect the phonecall on the Headset, press the Headset button or lift the handsetfrom the phone. To switch back to the handset, unplug the Headset from the headset jack.When connecting a call through the speaker, press the Speaker button. Note: When receiving a call using the Speaker button, connect the Head-set after the Speaker button has been pressed to connect the call. If the Headset is already connected, Headset audio will not be active when a call is originated in Speaker mode.III. During a call:During a call on the handset, keep the handset off the phone and plugin the Headset. To switch back to normal handset mode unplug the Head-set. When the call is on speaker, plug in the Headset. The Speaker but-ton is still lighted. To switch back to Speaker mode, unplug the headset.IV. Ending a call:To end the call when using the handset, place the handset on hook or press the Headset button located on the headset.When a call is connected using the Speaker button, press the Speaker button again or press the Headset button to end the call.
