TROUBLESHOOTING
RESET YOUR MODLET
Hold the modlet button down (at least 5 seconds) until the
light starts spinning slowly.
RESET YOUR THERMOSTAT REMOTE
Hold the power button down (at least 10 seconds) until
a blinking X appears in the lower left corner of the display.
DURING SET UP
If you are having trouble setting up your modlet, then the
WiFi password entered is likely incorrect. Conrm that you
have the correct WiFi password, then follow the steps above
to reset your modlet and try again.

WARRANTYSPECIFICATIONS
LIMITED ONE (1) YEAR WARRANTY
Warranty: ThinkEco warrants that the modlet, modlet
BN, modlet USB receiver, modlet Gateway and smartAC
thermostat (collectively “TE Products”) will be free from
defects in material and workmanship and perform
to ThinkEco’s applicable published specications for
a period of one (1) year from date of delivery to you.
The liability of ThinkEco hereunder shall be limited
to replacing or repairing, at its option, any defective
TE Products which are returned F.O.B. ThinkEco’s
corporate address (or, at ThinkEco’s option, refunding
the purchase price of such TE Products). In no case
are TE Products to be returned without rst obtaining
permission and a return order number from ThinkEco.
You are responsible for the cost of shipment of the
defective TE Products to ThinkEco, and ThinkEco is
responsible for the cost of shipment of a replacement
TE Products to you. In the event you send TE Products
back to ThinkEco, and the TE Product is not defective,
ThinkEco reserves the right to charge you a fee associ-
ated with postage and handling of such TE Product.
Replacement TE Products: Replacement TE Products
are warranted by ThinkEco pursuant to the warranty
set forth above for the longer of (i) thirty (30) days; or (ii)
the remaining warranty period for the original Modlet.
The replacement TE Product may be refurbished and/
or contain refurbished parts.
The following are not covered by this warranty: (i) TE
Products which have been subject to abuse, misuse,
accident, alteration, neglect, unauthorized repair,
inspection or installation, Acts of God, power surge,
wear and tear, mishandling, misapplication, or other
causes unrelated to defective materials or workmanship;
and (ii) any damages and/or viruses caused by use of
a third party device in conjunction with the TE Products.
You are responsible for determining if a third party
device used in conjunction with any TE Product is
suitable for such use and ThinkEco is not liable, and
this warranty does not cover, any damages caused by,
or to, any third party device. ThinkEco will make the
nal determination as to the existence and cause of
any alleged defect. No warranty is made with respect
to any custom equipment or goods produced to your
specications except as specically stated in writing
by ThinkEco in the contract for such custom goods.

Thank you for purchasing your new smartAC WiFi Kit!
For more information and to learn about your product(s)
please read all user guide/manuals provided to you (in
both paper and electronic form) and all operating and
safety instructions. If you fail to do so the products
listed below may not function properly and may lead
to damage to the products and to other danger.
Specications
The kit you purchased may include one or more of the
following products:

• TE5020: Electrical rating 125V/15A/60Hz
• TE5021: Electrical rating 125V/20A/60Hz
• TE5023: Electrical rating 240V/20A/60Hz
• All versions: 13 inch cord either end (26 in total
for cords)
• All versions: WiFi (IEEE 802.11b/g/n) and either
Bluetooth or ZigBee wireless communication
smartAC thermostat TE1320:
• Bluetooth or ZigBee wireless communication
• Power source: 2 AAA Batteries - 2x 1.5V DC
Important Safety Information:
UL 916 listed. Use indoors in a dry location. Do not use
this product in connection with critical care equipment
(i.e. life-support systems). Contains non-user serviceable
parts; do not open. This is a live AC outlet, even when
the modlet is in an “o scheduled mode”. This product
is not a toy. Do not allow children to operate it.
The modlet TE5020 is not intended for use with loads
rated above 15 Amps. The modlet TE5021 and modlet
TE5023 are not intended for use with loads rated above
20 Amps. Do not “daisy-chain” the modlet. Only plug
the modlet into a grounded outlet or a grounded
extension cord with the same rating as your modlet.
In an over current condition or if the modlet is plugged
into an old and/or damaged socket the modlet and
socket temperature may increase substantially. In such
a case, unplug the modlet and appliances immediately
and discontinue use. You should contact a qualied
electrician to inspect and/or replace the outlet.
Connecting a modlet or a modlet BN to an improperly
grounded outlet will void all warranties.
Regulatory Information:
Installation and use of this device must be in strict
accordance with the instructions included in the user
documentation provided with the product or at
www.thinkeco.com. Any changes or modications made
to this device that are not expressly approved by the
manufacturer may void the user’s authority to operate
the equipment. ThinkEco will assume no liability for any
damage or violation of government regulations arising
from failing to comply with these guidelines.
RF Exposure Warning
This equipment complies with FCC radiation exposure
limits set for an uncontrolled environment. The modlet
BN (TE5020, TE5021, TE5023) should be installed and
operated with a minimum distance of 7.9 inches (20cm)
between the radiator and your body. The SmartAC
thermostat (TE1320) should be installed and operated
with a minimum distance of 0.2 inches (0.5cm) between
the radiator and your body. This transmitter must not
be co-located or operated in conjunction with any other
antenna or transmitter.

RETURN POLICY
If you purchased your modlet from a third-party
retail store, you must return the modlet to that
same retailer and comply with such retailer’s return
policy. Please contact the store for additional details
on completing your return. All refunds will be net of any
rebate and/or discount that you received in connection
with any promotion. The failure to abide by this policy
will result in substantial delays to any refund request.

If you did not purchase your TE Products, but received
the TE Products as part of a utility or third party
program, then the terms of conditions of that program
will apply and supersede these terms with respect to
the warranty, repair and return of your TE Products.
Operation is subject to the following two conditions:

This device must accept any interference, including
interference that may cause undesired operation
of this device.

SLOW SPIN
The modlet light spins slowly (one rotation every two
seconds) when the modlet is ready to be set up.
FAST SPIN
The modlet light spins quickly (two rotations every one
second) when the modlet is connecting to the WiFi network.
OFF
The modlet is operating normally.
SOLID ON
The overload protection circuit has tripped. Press the modlet
button to restore power. The connected appliance draws
too much power and should not be used with the modlet.

Download the ThinkEco smartAC app from
the iTunes App Store or Google Play.
Create an account to set up.
If you are part of a utility program, you must
use the same email address you registered with.
Unplug your air conditioner and plug your
modlet BN WiFi into the wall outlet.
The modlet light should spin slowly (once every two seconds).
Open any browser and go to mymodlet.com.
Click “sign me up!” to create an account. If you
were not prompted to set up a modlet, go to
the Devices tab to add a modlet.
If you are part of a utility program, you must
use the same email address you registered with.
Leave the smartAC app and go to
your Settings app. Connect to the modlet’s
WiFi network in your WiFi settings.
It will be listed as modletBN_WiFi_XXXXXX, where the last 6
characters will be a combination of numbers and letters.
Unplug your air conditioner and plug your
modletBN WiFi into the wall outlet.
The modlet light should spin slowly (once every two seconds).
Return to the ThinkEco smartAC app.
Follow the on screen instructions to open
your computer’s WiFi settings and connect
to the modlet’s WiFi network.
It will be listed as modletBN_WiFi_XXXXXX, where the last 6
characters will be a combination of numbers and letters.
Enter your home WiFi network password and
wait for your modlet to join your WiFi network.
Important! Make sure you use the correct password
or you will have to start over from Step 4.
Select “Scan Available Networks” and
choose your home WiFi network.
Choose your home WiFi network
from the list of networks.
If your home network is not on the list, then pull down
the list to refresh it.
Your browser will automatically redirect to your
WiFi modlet’s set up page. If it does not, check to
make sure your computer is still connected to the
modlet’s WiFi network. Reconnect to the network
if necessary.
When your modlet has connected successfully,
the light will turn o. Name your device to help
you distinguish it from other connected ACs.
Enter the password for your WiFi network
and select “Join Network”.
Important! Make sure you use the correct password
or you will have to start over from Step 3.
To pair your thermostat remote, insert the
batteries. You should see a blinking X in the
bottom left-hand corner of the screen.
When your modlet has connected successfully,
the light will turn o. Open your computer’s
WiFi settings and conrm you have rejoined
your home network.
Congratulations! You are all set up. Plug in
yourAC and turn it to the coldest setting. You
will now be able to change the temperature
and turn it on/o with your smartphone and
thermostat remote.

In your browser, a page titled “Almost Done”
will display. Click “Search”. Name your device
to help you distinguish it from other
connected ACs.
To pair your thermostat remote, insert the
batteries. You should see a blinking X in the
bottom left-hand corner of the screen.

Welcome to your new smartAC WiFi Kit.
The modlet BN WiFi and thermostat remote allow
you to track your plugged-in AC’s energy use.
You can conveniently turn it on/o or change the
temperature from your smartphone or any browser.
You can set up via your smartphone with the
ThinkEco smartAC app or with a WiFi connected
computer via www.mymodlet.com.
NOTE: You will need a WiFi connection in order to use your smartAC WiFi
Kit. Please make sure you know your WiFi password before continuing.
