Battery Installation
Press to increment to next channel, lnwementing from channel 3 will return the
unit to channel 1.
Press to initiate transmission of an alert tone to other F RS radios tuned to the
same channeL
(Press—to—Talk) Press and hold during transmission. Release to receive calls
During battery—save receive mode. the currently tuned channel LED will flash
approximately every I second. During transmit and call-receive modes, the
current channel LED will be on continuously.
This light indicates when the unit is transmitting
Rotate thumbwheel counter-clockwise to turn the unit on Continue counter-
clockwise rotation to increase listening volume Tum clockwise to reduce the
listening volume and continue until a “click“ is felt, indicating that power has
been turned off.
Insert an optimal Ear Bud speaker headset into the Headsetjack to listen to
received calls with the external speaker disabled.
1) Remove the battery compartment door by sliding it down from the lmit.
2) Install 3 AA-size alkaline batteries (not included) into the battery compartmmt. Be certain to
follow the + and A symbols in the oumpartmmt, Installing the batteries incorrectly vw'll prevent
the unit fi'om operating.
Belt Clip Installation and Removal
- To install the belt clip, line up the grooves on the clip with the grooves on the back of the unit
Place your thumb or index finger on the top of the clip and slide downwd imtil it snaps into
place.
0 To remove the belt clip, release the snap with your fingu or a tool while firmly pushing upward
on the clip.

Using Your Family Radio
l) Turn on power,
2) Set to desired channel
3) Adjust volume to a comfortable level.
Transmitting a call:
Press and hold the FIT button. The red transmit LED will light to indicate transmit mode. Speak in a
clear, normal voice about 2-3 inches away from the microphone To avoid cutting off the first part of your
transmission, pause slightly atter pressing the FIT button before you start talking Release the FIT button
then you are finished talking.
Receiving a call:
When a call is received, the currently tuned channel indicator will light continuously and the caller will be
heard through the speaker.
Transmitting a Call Alert Tone:
Press the Page button to initiate an Alert tone transmission The Alert tone will automatically be
transmitted for a fixed length of time and it is not necessary to hold the button down once it has started.
Changing Channels:
Press the Channel button to increment to the next channel. The channel may only be changed during
receive mode and cannot be changed during Call Ala't or P'l'T transmit mode.

0 Alkaline batteries are recommended for longer operation Carbon-zinc or nickel cadmium
rechargeable batteries can substantially reduce battay life
a If you are not going to use your radio for a month or more, be sure to remove the batteries because they
can leak and damage the unit.
