BELT CLIP INSTALLATIONAND REMOVAL• To install the belt clip, line up thegrooves on the clip with the grooves onthe back of the unit. Push downwarduntil it snaps into place.• To remove the belt clip, release thesnap with your finger or a tool whilefirmly pushing the clip upward.USING YOUR FAMILY RADIO1. Turn on power.2. Check the battery condition on the display.3. Set to desired channel.4. Adjust volume to comfortable level.TO TRANSMITPress the PTT (PUSH-TO-TALK) button.Speak slowly and clearly 2-3 inches fromthe microphone. To avoid cutting off thefirst part of your transmission, pauseslightly after pressing the PTT buttonbefore you start talking. The transmit icondisplays while the unit transmits.TO RECEIVEWhen your are finished talking, release thePTT (PUSH-TO-TALK) button to listen tothe incoming transmission.TRANSMITTING A CALLALERT TONEPress the PAGE button to initiate an Alerttone transmission. ON/OFF/VOLUME - Turn counterclockwiseto power ON and increase listening volume.Rotate clockwise to decrease volume andturn power OFF.2. PTT (Push to Talk) - press to transmit,release to receive.3. Remove the battery compartment door by sliding it downfrom the unit.2. Install 3 AA-size alkaline batteries (not included) into thebattery compartment. Make sure to follow the + and - symbolsin the compartment.  Installing the batteries incorrectly mayprevent the unit from operating or can damage the unit.NOTE: In order to maintain your user settings, make sure the unit isoff before removing the batteries. LCD displayPWR//MODE - Press and hold for 2 secondsto power the unit on.  Press and hold again for2 seconds to power the unit off.  Press andrelease to change the + and - keys fromvolume mode to channel mode.VOLUME/CHANNEL +    - While in volume mode,press to increase the speaker volume.  Thevolume setting from 1 to 8 will display on the LCD. If the unit is in channel mode (see 1. above), pressto increase to the next higher channel up tochannel 22.  If the current channel is 22, the nextchannel will be channel 1.VOLUME/CHANNEL -    - While in volume mode,press to decrease the speaker volume.  Thevolume setting from 1 to 8 will display on the LCD. If the unit is in channel mode (see 1. above), pressto decrease to the next lower channel.  If thecurrent channel is 1, the next channel will bechannel 22.Replace with 35822 battery installart (not provided)FRS/GMRSChanging Volume and Channel ModesAfter power-on, the unit is in volume mode.  Press thePWR/MODE key to change from volume mode tochannel mode.  Press again to change back to volumemode.  If no key is pressed wthin 10 seconds the unit willautomatically change back to volume mode.Replace withfigure 3 in IBfigure fileChanging VolumeAfter power-on, the unit is in volume mode.  Pressthe + key to increase the volume or press the - key todecrease the volume.
