NetRouter 1100 Quick Start Guide
Thank you for selecting the NetRouter 1100, the easiest, most efficient small LAN router
available today!
The NetRouter 1100 has unique features that make it very easy to setup and manage. This
guide wull walk you through the EasySetup feature of the Netllouter 1100 and get you
connect quick-n-easy. This guide contains three parts, Connecting the NetRouter to the
LAN, Connecting a modem to the NetRouter, and Configuring the NetRouter using the
EasySetup Wizard.
Connecting the NetRouter to the LAN
To connect the NetRouter to the LAN a free port on you existing Ethernet hub and a
lobase‘l' cable Is all that IS needed. Just connect the cable to RJ’45 socket labeled LAN on
the back of the NetRouter and any available Ethernet socket on your hub.
Connecting a Modern to the NetRouter
The NetRouter 1100 is compatible with any standard analog modem. To hook the modem up
to the NetRouter use the R5232 cable provided. Connect one end of the cable to the port
labeled WAN and the other end of the cable to the serial port on a modem.
Configuring the NetRouter using the EasySetup Wizard
Once the NetRouter is connected to the LAN and a modem is attached you need to connect
the power supply to the back of the unit and turn it on. The NetRouter has an advanced
feature that Will monitor all IP address currently on your network and respond to any
address that is not already used, This allows the NetRouter to be setup via a web browser
Without the hassle of assigning it an IP address through a console or auxiliary port.
FCC ID: MZNNTRTR1100
To start the EasySetup feature, open up your browser and type any IP address not being
used on your network in the location box. After you hit enter you will see a dialog box
asking you for a user ID and a password, type netrouter as the user ID, and digital as the
password. You will then see the main Websetup page of the NetRouter, which will allow you
to have total control over all features. This quickstart guide will only cover the Easy Setup
Wizard which in most cases is all that is needed to get the NetRouter configured and up and
running.
To start the EosySetup feature of the Netkouter click on ” g Setup Wizard'l The
EasySetup Wizard main page will then be displayed Please read this page and click ”M"
to proceed with the setup. The next page displays the IP address you entered in the web
browser and the default mask of the NetRouter. If you would like to change either of
these settings do so and click "M".
The WAN applications page is now displayed. Here you will have to decide how you want the
NetRouter to be used. Your choices are: WAN disabled (LAN routing only), Branch office
to Headquarters (Remote LAN connection), Headquarters to Branch office (Main network to
remote LAN), Dynamic connection to ISP (ISP assigns a different IP address each time),
and Static connection to ISP (Your connection has the same IP address each time it
connects). Select the appropriate type of connection and click "Next".
The next page you will see is going to depend on the WAN selection type. If you selected
Headquarters to Branch office or Dynamic connection to ISP, you will have to enter an IP
address and possibly a mask. If you selected Branch office to Headquarters or static
connection to ISP you will have to enter a user ID and password. Click "Next" after you
have entered the appropriate data.
The WAN definition page is now displayed. Choose the type of connection being used,
either PPP Async or PPP Sync, and click "Next".
If you choose PPP Sync your EasySetup of the NetRouter is complete. Just select "liestart
and initialize". If you have chosen PPP async you must select the speed at which the
connection will be made. Note that these are DTE speeds and should be set to the highest
possible speed the modem will handle (Le. v.34 = 115200).
Now the characteristics of the WAN connection must now be determined. There are 4
types of connections available, "Leased Line" (used for a dedicated wire connection between
two points), "Manual" (user controls when connections are made and dropped), "@
demand"(the router senses WAN traffic and dials or hangs up appropriately), and
”Dedicated" (the router is always connected and will keep trying to connect if
disconnected). Select the type of connection that best fits you needs and click "fit
The telephone number or numbers must now be entered. Note that the Leased Line
connection does not require a telephone number since lines of this nature do not have
numbers or tone.

After you have entered the telephone number(s) and clicked "M" you will be on the final
page of the EasySetup Wizard. ThIS page gives you general recommendations and
procedures for final use of the NetRouter. It must be pointed out that after clicking
"Finished" you must wait for the NetRouter to be completely restarted and initialize before
beginning any changes to the canfiguration, Failure to do this will result in the loss of all
data entered previously. If settings made in the EasySetup Wizard need to be modified or
are not robust enough for you particular needs you can use "Advanced Configuration" to
make changes, There is also extenswe anline help it needed under the Help menus.
