NLM-14 FM RADIO INSTRUKJTON MANUAL
Thank you for purchasing our NLM-14: “Tho Family Radio Service (FRS)” 2-wsy radio. FRS is a brand-new long
distance, two~way communication service system. NLM-14 is characterized by its long range. compact size, light in
weight and easy to carry.
Under the lrequency range provided, you can freely communicate with your family members and friends during various
kinds of outdoor activities

Batteries
(1) Installation
1. Turn the power off
2. Use 3 “AA" Alkaline battery for operation. Please remove the belt hook before inserting
batteries. Open the battery compartment by pulling down and insert batteries. Make sure
that both sides of the batteries are in the right position (the spring end is Negative end of battery)
3. Put battery cover back.
Notice:
1. Use new batteries of the required size and type.
2. Do not use & mix the old and new batteries, difierent types of batteries, alkaline or rechargeable batteries with different
capacity together.
Operation
1. Turn On
Turn the switch, Volume and Power OnIOft. clockwise and adiust the volume level to a suitable level after inserting batteries,
one can hear a “DO“ sound, which means the power supply is connected and the unit is ready to use and functions properly.
2. Channel Setting
Both the milling and receiving units must he set on the same channel. Select desired channel by pressing and releasing "A"
(UP) and "V" (DOWN) keys. Current channel will be shown on the LED display.
3. MON Button
To hear everything happening on a channel. including weak transmission and radios set to a dilferent quiet code, hold down
“MON" (monitor). The unit will be in a receiving mode. Release MON to tum auto»squelch back on.
4. Call
Simply press “Call" button to call other parties. Receiving panies will then hear a calling tone. After pressing “CaIr', the calling
unit will have a “DO” sound, which means it is now calling other parties. Release “Call”, one can hear “DO DO" sound after 3
seconds, it indicates that the calling comes to the end. it one wants to call again, please repeat the above procedures.
5. Communication
If one presses “PTI'”, one can talk to other parties. If rece‘wing parties want to talk, he/she has to wait until other parties have
finished talking. Helshe can talk by prssing “P‘I‘P' by then.
6. Mic and Earphone Jack
One can use Mic and Earphone Jack during communication, if necessary. Just insert the socket to the proper position. Please
note that ‘SPK" outlets and “MIC" are it 2.5mm.
7. Low Battery Indicator
it “L' is shown on the LED display, it indicates thatthe battery power is low. One has to replace batteries. Continuous operation
will lead to unsatisfactory and poor performance.
5. Turn Off
Volume level is decreased when turning the “VOLUME” knob anti-clockwise. Continue to turn the volume knob until the power is
cut.

> All functions of NLM-14 have been ore-set and comply with FCC before it sells in me market. So, one should not open the
case to replace circuits and parts, except changing batteries.
> The transmiued signals of this product are within the required frequency range. Any adjustment on the frequency range
may be illegal.
> Almost every electronic device is susceptible to electromagnetic interference (EMI) if inadequately shielded, or configured
for electromagnetic compatibility. Under working condition, NLM—14 may interfere with TV or radio signals. In order a;
check this. one can turn on the NLM-14 or press P'I'I' button when a TV set or radio is on. Quality of voice or image from
TV sets or radios might deteriorate, but voice and image will recover again after NLM-14 is turned off.
To avoid interference, one can take the following measures:
(a) Avoid using NLM-14 from nearTV set or radio signals receiving equipment.
(b) Ask our engineering department for technical support.
Care and Malnhnancg
1. Handle NLM-14 gently and carefully.
2. Avoid using it in hostile environment. such as dusty, humid and high wmperature environment.
3. To clean the radio, wipe with a soft cloth dampened with water. Do not use corrosive chemical solvents to clean the dust on
the surface. Battery contacts can be wiped with a dry, lint-free cloth.

violate FCC regulations.
