Communication Modules Cover    English: Installation Sheet Description The Advisor™ family of life-safety protection and comfort management systems detects situations, and provides control and information for homes and businesses. This document provides instructions on installing and programming the Advisor Cellular Modem (P/N AV-3G) for use with the AdvisorOne panel. Note: This instruction sheet does not provide instructions on how to install the antenna. Please refer to the Advisor One 3G Antenna Installation Sheet (P/N 466-4436) for more information. The Advisor Cellular Modem provides cellular communication for reporting, 2-way voice, remote maintenance, remote access, and firmware upgrade management to the Advisor system.
2 / 5    Advisor Cellular Modem Installation Sheet  Preparation and Installation Service Activation: Before installing the module, it must be activated on an existing dealer account. If you do not have a dealer account, please contact Interlogix support directly to initiate the account set-up procedure.  The activation process automatically activates the module within a few hours. If you already have a dealer account, you can activate and manage the module via our website address: https://login.uplink.com/interlogix/login.aspx. 1.  Enter your login name and password, then press Login. 2. Press Activate Unit on the left side of the page. 3.  Enter the serial number of the module from the label on the front of the unit (10-digit number preceded by S/N) and select Interlogix SMS Plan from the drop-down menu, then press Activate. 4.  Fill out the required information and select reporting options, then press Update. Preparing to Install the Advisor Cellular Modem: WARNING: Use caution when installing or removing the Power Supply to an outlet with a metal cover. 1.  Depending on the situation, it may be necessary to contact the central monitoring station before starting the installation. 2. If a power supply is present, remove the screw from the securement tab and unplug the power supply. 3.  Remove the screw securing the panel chassis. Open the panel by pressing down on the tabs and carefully swing the panel chassis open. CAUTION: Use static electricity precautions when handling electronic components. 4.  Release the battery strap (H in Figure 6). Disconnect the battery from the battery connector (I in Figure 6) by pressing down on the wire end of the battery clip. Remove the existing battery. 5.  To access the location of the Cellular module, remove the Communication Modules Cover (C in Figure 2) by pulling outward on the tabs (D in Figures 2 and 6) and then lifting upward when the tabs release. Installing the Advisor Cellular Modem: 1.  Remove adhesive backing from the Ground Shield. 2.  Install the Ground Shield (F in Figures 3 and 4) into the CELLULAR module location and on top of the ribbon cable (G in Figure 4), carefully aligning the guide holes in the shield with the with the two guide pins  inside the panel. 3.  Install SIM card in the Advisor Cellular Modem, if not already installed. 4.  Install the Advisor Cellular Modem  (A in Figures 1 and 5) on top of the ground shield and ribbon cable, carefully aligning the header of the Cellular module (B in Figures 1 and 5) with the pins on the circuit board. Press into place.  Note: The Advisor Cellular Modem must be installed in the designated cellular module slot (marked CELLULAR MODEM in the plastic). DO NOT force the module into place. 5.  Before replacing the Communication Modules Cover, remove the breakout (E in Figure 2) for the Advisor Cellular Modem. 6.  Reinstall the Communication Modules Cover by pressing the cover down until the tabs (D in Figures 2 and 6) snap into place.  Note: The Communication Modules Cover must be secured for proper operation. 7.  Reinstall the battery into the holder.  Note: Do not connect the battery connector and do not secure the battery strap at this time.  8.  Refer to the AdvisorOne 3G Antenna Installation Sheet (P/N 466-4436) for installing the antenna. 9.   Supply power to the panel as noted in Table 1. Table 1: Powering the Panel Installation Action Note US Plug the power supply into the outlet and secure with the supplied screw.  Canada Plug the power supply into the outlet. Do not use the securement tab and screw. All Other Installations  Follow regional requirements.
Advisor Cellular Modem Installation Sheet    3 / 5 Note: Connect the battery within 15 seconds of providing power from the power supply to reduce the potential for a low battery indication. 10.  Connect the battery to the battery connector on the panel (I in Figure 6). Note that the cable connector locks into place. 11.  Close the panel, making sure all tabs are engaged. Replace the screw securing the panel chassis.  Note: All three internal covers must be secured for proper operation. 12 . If the central monitoring station was notified, inform them this operation is complete. Module Configuration and Programming Module Configuration A CELLULAR module with a provisioned SIMM card will automatically configure to the Advisor panel and external service when the panel is powered up and a cellular connection is made. Note: No additional action is required, follow the steps below to verify the installation.   For un-provisioned module configuration, refer to the AdvisorOne Panel Install & Programming Manual (P/N 466-4405) for additional information. To Verify the Advisor Cellular Modem is Present and Configured Correctly: 1.  Press the Settings         icon located on lower left of the main screen. 2.  Press CONFIGURATION to enter module configuration and programming. 3.  Enter the installer access code, press CONTINUE. 4.  From the main Options screen, press COMMUNICATION, then press INTERFACES. 5.  Press EDIT next to CELLULAR.  6.  Press either CELLULAR VOICE or CELLULAR INTERNET.   7.  Verify that “Connected” is displayed.  If it is not and an error message is displayed, refer to the “Troubleshooting” section of this guide. Programming The Advisor Cellular Modem can be programmed for the following: reporting, two-way voice, remote maintenance (downloader), firmware management, and remote access (Smartphone).  Refer to the AdvisorOne Panel Install & Programming Manual (P/N 466-4405) for more information. If the module doesn’t automatically configure, see “Troubleshooting”. Troubleshooting  Error Description SIMM error Verify SIMM card is in place and positioned correctly. PIN error Contact Technical Support. Signal strength is low • Ensure an antenna is present and connected properly. • Re-orient the antenna or change the panel location. • Contact Interlogix for other antenna options. If more information is required, refer to the AdvisorOne Install & Programming Manual (P/N 466-4405) or contact Technical Support.
