It is important to be aware of these safety instructions. Install the device according to these instructions and keep this guide for future reference. • Do not use this device in a humid space, in the rain, or near splashing water. • Do not install during thunder or lightening storms. • Do not cover any ventilation openings in the device case. • Do not place the device near heat sources such as radiators or stoves. • Clean the device only with a clean, dry cloth. Do not use liquid or chemical cleaners. • Avoid static discharge when touching the device by first touching the coaxial connector of the coaxial cable. • The cable distribution system must be grounded in accordance with ANSI/NFPA 70 and the National Electrical Code (NEC), in particular section 802.93,
2 Grounding of the Outer Conductive Shield of a Coaxial Cable. ◆ Installation Instructions Use the following guidelines to install the device. Place the device near an outlet so the power supply can be plugged in directly to the wall outlet without an extension. Observe the maximum load of the electrical outlet. Use the power supply provided with the device. To install the device: Connect the device according to the following instructions and Figure 1. 1. Connect one end of the RF coaxial cable (not included) to the RF port on the device. Connect the other end to the cable wall outlet or a cable splitter. (Use a cable splitter, not included, to connect the device and a television to the same cable wall outlet.) Be sure not to bend or over tighten the cables as this may strain the connector and cause damage. Figure 1 – Connection Diagram 2. Connect one end of the Ethernet cable (included) to one of the Ethernet ports (ETH1 – ETH4) on the device. Connect the other end to the Ethernet port on a PC. Note: Use Category 5e or 6 cables with RJ45 connectors when connecting Ethernet devices to the LAN ports. This ensures Gigabit Ethernet speeds when the computer supports it. 3. Connect the power supply to the POWER port on the device. Plug the other end of the power supply into the AC wall outlet. Important: Use only the power supply provided with this device.
3 ◆ Additional Rear Panel Buttons • RESET button: Resets the device to the factory defaults. To reset, insert a small object into the reset opening and hold for more than 10 seconds. The device resets to factory defaults and reboots. Note: Not all parameters are reset to factory defaults. Refer to the user guide for more information. • USB Port: Provides one USB port with host controller. • WPS (on top of the device): Provides the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) method used to connect PIN-protected Wi-Fi equipment to this device. ◆ LEDs on Front Panel The following table describes LED behavior. LEDs are white. LED DESCRIPTION Power On when device has completed internal power‐on tests successfully. Blinks if power‐on test fails. US/DS Upstream/downstream connectivity. Blinks when ranging is in process, On when ranging is complete. Off when scanning for DS channel. Online On when device is online. Blinks when obtaining IP address and configuration file. Off when device is offline. WiFi On when Wi-Fi is enabled. Blinks when traffic is passed. Off when Wi-Fi is disabled. Figure 2 – Front Panel
