"U UBIQUITF NETWORKS \\1, sllilXw Solar Gateway -" Model: SM-PICO QUICK START GUIDE Introduction Thank you for purchasing the Ubiquiti Networks® sunMAX” Solar Gateway Picom. This Quick Start Guide is designed to guide you through the installation and setup of this product, and also includes safety instructions and warranty terms. They are included to disconnect the AC connectors used in the sunMAX system. Hardware Overview Ports Ethernet Port RESEI‘ Button ! a v m in Er El . I Egg“ I i , Ethernet Port The Ethernet Port connects to the PoE port on the airGateway or PoE Adapter to power on the Solar Gateway Pico. Reset Button The Reset Button resets the Solar Gateway Pico. To restore the Solar Gateway Pico to factory defaults, press and hold the Reset Button for more than 10 seconds while the device is powered on. LEDs GOCD*Q Inverter Lights up steady green when all of the Microinverters are operating properly and communicating with the Solar Gateway Pico. Bluetooth Lights up steady green when the Microinverters are active and flashes when there is activity. Cloud Lights up steady green when the Solar Gateway Pico has established a connection to the cloud server. Network Lights up steady green when the Solar Gateway Pico establishes an Ethernet link. Boot Status Lights up steady green upon bootup and flashes during a firmware update or other system activity. Power Lights up steady green when the Solar Gateway Pico is powered on. Antenna Installation Connect the Antenna to the RP-SMA connector on the Solar Gateway Pico and rotate it clockwise until it stops. GL‘QD-'W Setting Up the Solar Gateway Pico The sunMAXInsta/l app allows you to set up the Solar Gateway Pico on your network to manage and gather real—time information about your solar array system. 1. On your mobile device, download the sunMAXInsta/I app for Android“ from the Google Play“ Store. 2. Launch the sunMAXInsta/I app and type your username and password into their corresponding fields. These credentials are created when you register online at https://account.ubnt.com/Iogin 3. Tap Sign In to sign in to the mobile app. MAX install 4. Tap a customer name from the list of sites installed. 5. When the Site Dashboard screen appears, tap Gateway. 6. When prompted for a connection type to your local network, tap Ethernet for a wired connection or airGateway to use Wi—Fi to connect to your LAN. Proceed to the section that corresponds to your selection. Ethernet 1. Connect the Solar Gateway Pico by performing steps a-c. Tap Next when done. a. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the PoE port on the PoEAdapter. Ensure that the PoEAdapter is plugged into a power source. c. Connect an Ethernet cable from your local area network to the LAN port on the PoEAdapter. 2. Tap Scan QR to pair the Solar Gateway Pico with the current customer site information. 3. Scan the Gateway QR code to complete the pairing process. 4. When the MAC address screen appears, tap Next to continue or Redo Scan if necessary. 5. The following screen appears while the Solar Gateway Pico is connecting to your network and being configured. 6. Tap Done to complete the installation. ‘u’fl'ur ”mm-m. Success' luv-mm m mm", Once the Solar Gateway Pico has been set up and connected to your home network, return to the Dashboard screen to verify that the Gateway status icon is solid blue. Setup is now complete. Note: It may take up to five minutes for the Solar Gateway Pico to register with the cloud and update the status of the Gateway. airGateway 1. Tap Scan QR to pair the Solar Gateway Pico with the current customer site information. 2. Scan the QR code on the Solar Gateway Pico to complete the pairing process. 3. When the MAC address screen appears, tap Next to continue or Redo Scan if necessary. 4. Connect the Ethernet port from the Solar Gateway Pico to the PoE port on the airGateway and connect the power cord. Tap Next when you are finished. \ nrmnm mummy Power me auGateway 7. Wait for a list of discovered wireless networks to appear and make your selection. ‘Sfllétl 3 Network NHGEAR! 3 8. Type your password in the Password field and tap Country to select your country. When you are finished, tap Connect. 9. Once the Solar Gateway Pico has connected to your network, tap Done to complete the installation. “mu;- ”mm-m. Success' “mm m mm,” Once the Solar Gateway Pico has been set up and connected to your home network, return to the Dashboard screen to verify that the Gateway status icon is solid blue. Note: It may take up to five minutes for the Solar Gateway Pico to register with the cloud and update the status of the Gateway. Mounting the Solar Gateway Pico Note: The Solar Gateway Pico must be installed within a 50—foot range of all Microinverters in your solar array. Wall Mount 1. Secure the mounting bracket vertically to a wall or flat surface using the two Screws. 2. Insert the Solar Gateway Pico into the mounting bracket and slide it down until it snaps into place. Pole Mount 1. Insert the Zip Tie through the bracket on the Solar Gateway Pico. 2. Place the Solar Gateway Pico against the pole at the desired height. 3. Fasten the Zip Tie to the pole until the Solar Gateway Pico is secure. ‘D Mounting the PoE Adapter (Optional) 1. Slide the PoEMounting Bracket down to remove it from the PoE Adapter. 2. Place the PoE Mounting Bracket at the desired location and use it as a template to mark the hole location for each mounting screw. Use both mounting screws to secure the PoE Mounting Bracket in place. i J 3. Line up the notches on the PoEAdapter with the tabs on the PoE Mounting Bracket. Push the PoE Adapter into place on the bracket and slide it down until it is secure. There may be a remote risk of electric shock from lightning. Electrical Safety Information 1. Compliance is required with respect to voltage, frequency, and current requirements indicated on the manufacturer’s label. Connection to a different power source than those specified may result in improper operation, damage to the equipment or pose a fire hazard if the limitations are not followed. There are no operator serviceable parts inside this equipment. Service should be provided only by a qualified service technician. This equipment is provided with a detachable power cord which has an integral safety ground wire intended for connection to a grounded safety outlet. a. Do not substitute the power cord with one that is not the provided approved type. Never use an adapter plug to connect to a 2—wire outlet as this will defeat the continuity of the grounding wire. The equipment requires the use of the ground wire as a part ofthe safety certification, modification or misuse can provide a shock hazard that can result in serious injury or death. Contact a qualified electrician or the manufacturer if there are questions about the installation prior to connecting the equipment. Protective earthing is provided by Listed AC adapter. Building installation shall provide appropriate short-circuit backup protection. Protective bonding must be installed in accordance with local national wiring rules and regulations. Limited Warranty UBIQUITI NETWORKS, Inc (”UBIQUITI NETWORKS”) warrants that the product(s) furnished hereunder (the ”Product(s)") shall be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of shipment by UBIQUITI NETWORKS under normal use and operation. UBIQUITI NETWORKS’ sole and exclusive obligation and liability under the foregoing warranty shall be for UBIQUITI NETWORKS, at its discretion, to repair or replace any Product that fails to conform to the above warranty during the above warranty period. The expense of removal and reinstallation of any Product is not included in this warranty. The warranty period ofany repaired or replaced Product shall not extend beyond its original term. Warranty Conditions The above warranty does not apply if the product: (I) has been modified and/or altered, or an addition made thereto, except by Ubiquiti Networks, or Ubiquiti Networks’ authorized representatives, or as approved by Ubiquiti Networks in writing; (II) has been painted, rebranded or physically modified in any way; (III) has been damaged due to errors or defects in cabling; (IV) has been subjected to misuse, abuse, negligence, abnormal physical, electromagnetic or electrical stress, including lightning strikes, or accident; (V) has been damaged or impaired as a result of using third party firmware; (VI) has no original Ubiquiti MAC label, or is missing any other original Ubiquiti Iabel(s); or (VII) has not been received by Ubiquiti within 30 days of issuance of the RMA. In addition, the above warranty shall apply only if: the product has been properly installed and used at all times in accordance, and in all material respects, with the applicable Product documentation; all Ethernet cabling runs use CATS (or above), and for outdoor installations, shielded Ethernet cabling is used, and for indoor installations, indoor cabling requirements are followed.
