”U UBIQUITF NNNNNNNN Solar Gateway” Model: SM-SG QUICK START GUIDE Introduction Thank you for purchasing the Ubiquiti Networks® sunMAX‘M Solar Gateway”. This Quick Start Guide is designed to guide you through the installation and setup of this product. It also includes safety instructions and warranty terms. Package Contents ’»§ Q?” Solar AC Disconnect Unlock Quick Start Gateway Tool Tool Guide Hardware Overview Ports (u) Ethernet Port 3 ¢ ‘ R656? Button Ethernet Port This Ethernet port is used to connect the Solar Gateway to your network router or DHCP server. Reset Button This button resets the Solar Gateway back to factory defaults. Press and hold the Reset button for more than 10 seconds while the Solar Gateway is powered on. Power LED Network Activity LED InverterAcrivity LED Input (from Microin verter) LEDs (0-0) Output (to AC trunk cable) Power The Power LED will light steady green when the device is connected to a power source. The LED may change color during general system activity. Network Activity The Network Activity LED will light steady green when the network and cloud are connected. It will light red if a network connection cannot be established. Inverter Activity The InverterActivity LED will light steady green if all Microinverters are detected. It will light yellow if one or more of the Microinverters are missing and light red iferrors are detected on any of the Microinverters. Connectors The Solar Gateway has two external connectors. Input Connects the Solar Gateway to the Microinverter. Output Connects the AC trunk cable to the Solar Gateway. Solar Gateway Installation WARNING: Before installing this product, disconnect the solar system from the grid or any source of power to prevent shock or damage. 1. Tilt the Solar Gateway forward and attach it to the AC Module by hooking it underneath the outer edge and rotating it down until it sits firmly against the panel. Solar Gateway AC Module 2. Use the AC Disconnect Tool to disconnect the AC trunk cable from the Microinverter. AC Trunk Cable AC Disconnect Tool Microinverter 3. Connect the AC trunk cable (previously connected to the Microinverter) to the Output port on the Solar Gateway. 4. Connect the Input cable from the Solar Gateway to the four-prong connector on the Microinverter. Setting Up the Solar Gateway The sunMAXInsta/I app allows you to set up the Solar Gateway on your network to manage and gather real—time information about your solar array. 5. Download the sunMAX/nstall app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play” (Android). 6. Launch the sunMAXInsta/I app and type your username and password into their corresponding fields. (Note: These credentials are created when you register online at httpszllaccount.ubnt.com/Iogin.) 7. Tap Sign In to sign in to the mobile app. MAX Install l 8. Tap Install to select a customer site to View or install. 640—00201—04 9. When the Site Dashboard screen appears, tap Gateway. 10. When prompted for a connection type to your local network, tap Ethernet. Lmemel 11 rGatewAy‘ 1 1. Connect an Ethernet cable to your Solar Gateway by performing steps a-c and tap Next when finished. a. Remove the Port Cover from the Solar Gateway and remove the Cable Feed Plug from the Port Cover. Tap Scan QR to pair the Solar Gateway with the current customer site information. 14. The MAC address and serial number should appear. Tap Next to continue or Redo Scan if necessary. 15. Compliance is required with respect to voltage, frequency, and current requirements indicated on the manufacturer’s label. Connection to a different power source than those specified may result in improper operation, damage to the equipment or pose a fire hazard if the limitations are not followed. 2 There are no operator serviceable parts inside this equipment. Service should be provided only by a qualified service technician. Limited Warranty UBIQUITI NETWORKS, Inc (”UBIQUITI NETWORKS") warrants that the product(s) furnished hereunder (the ”Product(s)") shall be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date ofshipment by UBIQUITI NETWORKS under normal use and operation. UBIQUITI NETWORKS’ sole and exclusive obligation and liability under the foregoing warranty shall be for UBIQUITI NETWORKS, at its discretion, to repair or replace any Product that fails to conform to the above warranty during the above warranty period. The expense of removal and reinstallation of any Product is not included in this warranty. The warranty period ofany repaired or replaced Product shall not extend beyond its original term. Warranty Conditions The above warranty does not apply if the product: (I) has been modified and/or altered, or an addition made thereto, except by Ubiquiti Networks, or Ubiquiti Networks’ authorized representatives, or as approved by Ubiquiti Networks in writing; (II) has been painted, rebranded or physically modified in any way; (III) has been damaged due to errors or defects in cabling; (IV) has been subjected to misuse, abuse, negligence, abnormal physical, electromagnetic or electrical stress, including lightning strikes, or accident; (V) has been damaged or impaired as a result of using third party firmware; (VI) has no original Ubiquiti MAC label, or is missing any other original Ubiquiti Iabel(s); or (VII) has not been received by Ubiquiti within 30 days of issuance of the RMA. In addition, the above warranty shall apply only if: the product has been properly installed and used at all times in accordance, and in all material respects, with the applicable Product documentation; all Ethernet cabling runs use CATS (or above), and for outdoor installations, shielded Ethernet cabling is used, and for indoor installations, indoor cabling requirements are followed. Returns No Products will be accepted for replacement or repair without obtaining a Return Materials Authorization (RMA) number from UBIQUITI NETWORKS during the warranty period, and the Products being received at UBIQUITI NETWORKS’ facility freight prepaid in accordance with the RMA process of UBIQUITI NETWORKS. Products returned without an RMA number will not be processed and will be returned freight collect or subject to disposal. Information on the RMA process and obtaining an RMA number can be found at: www.ubnt.comlsupport/warranty.
