address to the UniFi Server, or check the DHCP server for
its IP address.
3. Launch the web browser. In the address field, type https://
followed by the appropriate IP address and port number:
•
UniFi Controller Enter 8443 as the port number.
https://:8443
•
UniFi Video Enter 7443 as the port number.
4. Press enter (PC) or return (Mac). Follow the on-screen
instructions.
For information on configuring and using the UniFi Controller
or UniFi Video software, refer to the appropriate User Guide

Configuring the UniFi Server
Use SSH and standard Ubuntu commands to configure the
UniFi Server.
1. Ensure that your host system is on the same Layer-2
network as the UniFi Server.
2. The UniFi Server is set to DHCP by default, so it will try to
automatically obtain an IP address. Assign a specific IP
address to the UniFi Server, or check the DHCP server for
its IP address.
3. Use the appropriate SSH terminal client:
• Linux Built-in SSH terminal client
• Mac Applications > Utilities > Terminal
• Windows PuTTY or other third-party software
4. At the command prompt, type ssh followed by the
username and appropriate IP address in this format:
ssh @ and press enter/return.
Note: The default login of the UniFi Server is ubnt/ubnt.
5. A message will indicate that the UniFi Server’s host key is
not cached in the registry. Type yes and press enter/return
to have the client cache the host key as trusted.
6. At the prompt, type the password (no characters will
appear onscreen for security purposes). Press enter/return.
A command prompt displaying your username and device
name will indicate a successful connection. You can now use
standard Ubuntu commands to configure the UniFi Server.
